Major Carey of Virginia asked if I did not feel myself bound by my constitutional obligations to deliver up fugitives under the fugitive slave act. To this I replied that the Fugitive Slave act did not affect a foreign country, which Virginia claimed to be, and she must reckon it one of the infelicities of her position that insofar at least she was taken at her word

A lot of people have a lot of things to say about the Israeli strike on Iranian Nuke sites but rather than get deeply into this let me just state the obvious:

  • Iran has openly spent years developing a nuclear program with the intent to destroy Israel.
  • Iran has openly spent considerable effort to make war on Israel through proxies.
  • Iran has publicly stated for decades their intent to destroy Israel, exterminate the Jews and has openly advanced that position worldwide at every opportunity.

Yesterday Israel gave a response to these forthright and open declarations by Iran that can be summed up in three simple words:

We believe you.

Israel’s utter decimation of Hezbollah in Lebanon has confirmed that they have reached the “That’s All I Can Stands I Can’t Stands no More!” stage of existence. In the absence of US leadership Bibi and company has decided to act in their own best interest and take out the trash rather than sit back and appease western governments afraid of angry Arabs.

With Tanks now at the border of Lebanon and the entire command structure of Lebanon gone suddenly the Lebanese is suggesting they will enforce UN resolutions to restrain what’s left of Hezbollah but Israel seems to have decided to take the John Wayne approach from True Grit on rats deciding to kill them rather than let them be.

If I was Iran I’d be damn scared right now.

Speaking of Israel I don’t know what is more embarrassing to me as an American.

  1. That a few days after the Houti’s attacks a group of US warships without any response from us Israel took out their entire oil and fuel reserves at Al Hudaydah port in retaliation for a ballistic Missile strike they conducted against them while they were busy in the north.
  2. That Joe Biden the president when asked about this strike into Yemen strike said this:

This is the man who just over three months ago the entire news media INSISTED was sharp as a tack and anyone who said otherwise was speaking “disinformation”

If you want to understand the difference between a champion and a good player look no further than this exchange when Tom Brady was asked about comments made by the current Tampa Bay quarterback Baker Mayfield concerning how the players wanted him to bring “the joy back to Football” lessening the strees they had during the Brady years.

Brady answered thus:

In fairness to Mayfield he has not done bad in Tampa Bay leading them to one playoff win and having a good start this year. When he manages that first Super Bowl Ring then he can talk.

Let me tell you fans in New England are learning the stress of no Super Bowl Rings these days

Some People are shocked that Hillary Clinton is demanding the MSM attack Donald Trump more which given the level they have hit him so far doesn’t seem possible.

I’m not

She is simply claiming the right to treat her slaves as she wishes.

Finally the Chicago White Sox managed to avoid the worst kind of history winning 5 of their final six to finish 41-121 with a .253 winning percentage. While they did set the record for most losses in a season at 121 which beats the 1962 Mets 160 their 41 wins means their winning percentage is .253 as opposed to the Mets .250 meaning that the Mets remain in a class by themselves.

It’s an even bigger accomplishment when you figure that by taking two of three from the Tigers they forced them into the 6th seed in the playoffs when a single win would have given them home field advantage vs the Royals so they had something to play for.

As the Monty Python crew sings, always look at the bright side of life

One of the reasons why the Catholic Church has a 3 year readings cycle for Sunday Masses and a two year reading cycle for daily Masses is that you have to speak and repeat things for them to sink in.

Likewise you have to state the obvious aloud a few times for people to acknowledge it. It’s not enough that “everybody knows” it, it’s that people are unafraid to say the truth right in front of them.

National review did this when opining on the Iranian attempts to murder President Donald Trump noting:

Yes, well, we can reasonably infer that Tehran has a horse in this race insofar as it is trying to kill one of the candidates. And no one, including the Post’s reporters, disputes Western intelligence and security agencies’ assessment that Iran’s motive is vengeance for the 2020 strike on its IRGC commander. Moreover, the report makes note of the corroborating evidence that Iran is implicated in multiple hacks of Trump campaign email accounts, in which its agents absconded with campaign secrets and retailed them to both U.S. media outlets and the Biden campaign itself. A rather lopsided pattern has emerged.

Or as John Sexton put it:

if there are two candidates and Iran is trying to kill one of them, that would seem to indicate a clear preference in the race.

This would be the same Iran who is aiding Russia in their war against Ukraine.

Now think about this for a second. If you are Putin and you think that Trump is the favorable candidate, wouldn’t you be putting pressure on Iran to leave him alone, or wouldn’t you instead be putting pressure on them to try to knock off Harris? I mean if Harris winning means we’re all in on Ukraine wouldn’t the Russians want to stop that?

In politics and real life look at what people do rather than their rhetoric. The actions of Iran and Russia and China for that matter tell us who our enemies want to see in the White House and that someone is Kamala Harris. They also tell us who they want to see in the grave and that person is Donald Trump.

It speaks volumes as to what the left has become that so many leftists want that as well.

Clarification: When I mentioned not paying attention to a candidate’s “rhetoric” I was being kind to Vice President Harris as it would be a huge stretch to elevate the standard Harris word salad anywhere near to the level of “rhetoric”.

Chicken Run and Some Good Advice

If you are living in a face/shame culture like Hezbollah these stories must really cut deep.

One Kuwaiti user named Fahed uploaded a picture of a dead chicken, adding cynically: “Allahu Akbar! Hassan Nasrallah’s response! Hezbollah’s response! The number of chicken injuries rose to 27 chickens, 5 of them are critically injured, with first-degree burns to the wings and beak, after the chicken pen was targeted in response to the assassination of Fouad Shukr. He says ‘Our missiles are accurate!’”

A parody account named after Syrian tyrant Bashar Al-Assad wrote “A video showing the result of Hezbollah’s response to Israel, where dozens of Israeli chickens were killed and wounded. Is it reasonable that my ally Hezbollah would respond to the assassination of the party’s top military commander by killing chickens?

This one is my favorite:

The chicken massacre was not a coincidence, but a strategic plan! The goal? To prevent the opponents and enemies of the “resistance” from gloating after every bombing and saying “They didn’t even hurt a chicken.” Hezbollah finished off the chickens and chicks with premeditation and deliberation, in order to deprive us of the pleasure of joking and mocking its response and missiles! 😅🐔

All of that must cut deep but in the end there are a lot of resources being used to defend Israel here and I think Lindsey Graham gives the best advice when it comes to stopping this. Start worrying about the puppeteer rather than the puppets:

I’d include a demand concerning the attacks on the north but you get the picture.
