Liberal Bloggers discover Economics

My mother had business for many years and in those halicon days before everyone had credit cards she gave this advice:

“Don’t be so fast to give credit, because when the people have cash they will go to people who demand cash and when they don’t they will go to you.”

My father being very soft hearted didn’t take that advice as much as she would have liked.

Well it looks like our liberal blogger friends have discovered the joys of this economic truth:

Welcome to a little place I like to call Reality.

Why should a group pay her to say what she was going to say anyway?

She complained about Americans United for Change and American Association of Retired Persons.

I’ve seen ads for Americans United for Change and AARP on Fox News. Those groups know that they have to pay to get their messages to Fox News viewers unfiltered.

Why should they pay Hamsher to do what she was going to do anyway for free?

Hey I thought these guys were true believers that they were doing this for the cause? Oliver and Andrew are making an actual living on this via time and media matters. If these guys want a paycheck for this don’t they have to produce a product that someone wants to pay for?

However there is a case to made:

The behind-the-scenes tensions go to the heart of the role these bloggers have created for themselves in Democratic politics — they’re basically advocates and operatives with big platforms — and their future role, too. They argue that their efforts and fundraising helped drive the Democratic ascendancy. Yet even the Dem party committees are reluctant to advertise with them, raising the question of whether the party will ever be willing to seriously invest long-term in this new media infrastructure.

“We don’t invest in the future, and Republicans do,” says John Aravosis, the founder of AMERICAblog. “The party committees really get that we can be effective as their partners and that we’re happy to help, and they take advantage of that. But even so, very little ad money comes from them. It’s more than just wanting to share in the spoils. We are small business-people who are fighting to survive economically in a really bad year.”

Blogging is nice but there is this thing called life that takes precedence. Anger sustained people for a while but you can’t stay outraged all the time. The only reason why the Answer crowd manages it is because they do it for a living.

It will be interesting to see what kind of response beyond some inexpensive ads this produces. This is why a blog like Instapundit that is not just a political machine is more favored.

…and Tina Browns folks too

I guess the daily beast is trying the Kos methods to increase traffic.

Or maybe Journolist has spoken!

All over the net this weekend the Markos “Screw Them”™ Moulitsas line trying to link conservative opinion to a murder of police in Pittsburgh and the left’s sudden conclusion that killing police is not cause for celebration. (See Oakland March, Bill Ayers, Muma et/al) has either defended if you work for media matters or condemned if you are on the right.

Am I outraged? No. Why should I be? Why is this any different than what we have seen on the left on subjects such as Israel? How is it different that supporting our troops when they shoot their officers? It’s only been a little over a decade since Limbaugh was blamed for OHC, In the 80’s and even now they concluded Apartheid was all Reagan’s fault and it was the west that was evil not communism. (for the Nation it still is)

These are the leaders that the left has sought, this is what the left is. If you support the Daily Kos et/al this is what you support, you’ve known this for half a decade. I don’t expect better, this is your baseline, my anger is not going to change it and since believers who actually believe are expelled as raciest/bigots/homophobe etc there isn’t a fixed moral code to embarrass or shame you.

And if you claim that this is not what you believe or not what the left believes, where is your outrage? I confess I don’t have an exciting life but i have enough that I’m not going to waste it waiting for it to come.

Update: Hi Again Redstate readers welcome to a blog from Massachusetts soon to be former land of the all the news fit to ignore Globe. Take a peek. You can find leftists that are honorable, one of the greatest films ever, a comedian who will actually joke about the administration and an application of the Cohen rule of bigotry.

Update 2: The daily beast wants the hits too.

Update 3: It’s not quite Princess Di/Mother Theresa but the timing is magnificent:

The Supreme Court said Monday it will not take up Abu-Jamal’s claims that prosecutors improperly excluded blacks from the jury that convicted him of murdering Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner. …

What fortunate timing for the Kos crowd to solidify their opposition to cop killers. Markos? Oliver? Bueller?

Update 4: Bueller speaks in answer to this Don Surber post. Bueller notes he can write about what he wants, Don to his credit adds his update. I think Don missed the point. It’s not a question of outrage, this is what Bueller is now paid to do by the Soros’ of the world. He’s just earning his keep.

As for the Oakland killings not only is there no pay in going after the leftists who marched in favor of the killer, he is simply following the advice of a conservative republican president who said:

I’ve never had to explain something I didn’t say

Pretty good advice after all the MSM has made not reporting on things they don’t want to cover their bread and butter, or these days their bread and water.

At the Palm Sunday Mass Today…

…as always the Passion of Christ is read as the primary Gospel reading. Today it was from Mark. If you aren’t Catholic you might not be aware that when the passion is read on Palm Sunday and Good Friday the Gospel is divided into parts. The priest reads Christ, There is a Nariator who reads the linking text, a 2nd reader (in our case a deacon) who reads various parts and the specific parts such as crowd reaction and the taunting of Christ are read by the people.

You would think after decades of this I would have noticed it but until I remembered this post based on Diane Korzeniewski excellent post that it hit me how proper it was that the public reads all of the condemnation of Christ. If was due to fear of public opinion the Pilate did what he knew and his wife knew wasn’t right.

Is that a metaphor on what is happening at Notre Dame? That’s for other people to say.
