Let’s take a peek around the blogroll and see what we can see:

Dan Collins notes a double standard on gaffes:

But despite all of the available evidence that so easily destroys the meta-narrative of Obama’s brilliance, we still have yet to see him get the same treatment that Gerald Ford, Reagan, Quayle, or G.W. Bush did; where are all of the jokes about his educated idiocy? About Hirohito signing the surrender aboard the Missouri? About him listing the 57 states? No one seems to see the humor in any of this.

This reminds me a bit of why I think Obamacare is such a priority for this administration.

On the left side of the aisle Dissenting Justice takes issue with John Sheehan and his opinion of Gay Soldiers in the Dutch army:

Sheehan’s comments are absolutely bankrupt. 23 of the 26 NATO members allow out gays and lesbians to serve in the military. Only the US, Turkey and Portugal do not. Under Sheehan’s “logic,” NATO itself is ineffective due to the presence of gay soldiers.

There is no question however that the Dutch certainly didn’t cover themselves with glory in Bosnia. I’ve given my opinion on gays in the military here.

And Finally Peg at What if notes that both the administrations dealings with Israel and her showing in the North American Bridge association championships leave much to be desired:

his kind of excessive and weirdly paternalistic attitude to the state of Israel, directed so clearly from the top, seems to come out of a kind of unexamined personal animus. The long record that Obama has of friendship with virulent enemies of Israel has not gone unnoticed.

As the old saying goes; only time will tell. Let’s hope that the rest of the time this week is kinder to my bridge performance, too!

Hey Peg, at least you never played with a partner who liked to bluff when bidding. It really changes the game.

…the evil zionists held a protest attacking Palestinian culture by daring to suggest that honor killings might not be a good thing:

Sixty of these Israeli Arab Bedouin women recently came in busloads from the Negev to Nazareth to join a total of 500 Israeli Arabs in a protest against honor killings in their communities. They constituted the largest continent of women, “thanks to the work of Hind el Sana, a lobbyist in Shatil’s Bedouin Women’s Leadership Project.

It got some coverage in the Arab press but other than Pajamas media I haven’t seen any major network talk about it. It is important to note that although the killings being protested took place in the west bank and Gaza and among Israeli Arabs there was no mirror protest in Gaza. I’m sure this was a mere oversight and that Hamas would certainly have no problem allowing Arab women to protest freely.

/sarcasm off

We see Thomas Peters, the American Papist finding some holes in a study suggesting that Billy Joel’s statement that “Catholic Girls start too late” is wrong.

Turns out, that study was ridiculously flawed. In addition to having very serious phrasing and definition issues, turns out that the “study” was based on interviews with only 39 girls in 2001!

Where did they get their sample, next to the Girls Gone Wild Bus? Tom links to a further debunking here.

On a much less Catholic note Israellycool shares that the U.N’s John Holmes is distraught about the idea of Egypt blocking the smuggling tunnels to Gaza:

…while we are on the subject of frustration, do you know what I find frustrating? The fact that people like Holmes make no effort to understand Israel’s security concerns. Notice how the only “undesirable effect” of the tunnels is the effect “they’re having on the Gazan society and Gazan economy.” Forget about the smuggling of weapons used against Israelis.

John Holmes, you share more than a name with the porn actor. You both lack a moral compass.

As you can see Facebook death threats haven’t slowed Aussie Dave down one bit. I wonder if Mr. Holmes is putting any pressure of Egypt to open crossings on their side to let all these things through, after all didn’t Gaza belong to Egypt before 1967? Why is it Israel’s job to feed the people who want to kill them?

Finally Robert Stacy pays homage to Andrew Breitbart

…see if you notice the little “gotchas” that Noah Shachtman evidently feels compelled to intrude into the article, such as describing Breitbart as a “beefy 41-year-old” in the third paragraph.

Breitbart is over 6 feet tall and probably a lot less “beefy” than the average 41-year-old. Had he grown up in Alabama instead of Brentwood, Calif., some football coach would have spotted him in the school hallway and made an all-state linebacker out of him. His most remarkable feature is his blue eyes, which glare with a luminous intensity whenever he begins talking about anything he is passionate about. Yet Breitbart’s owlish eyes go unmentioned by Shachtman in favor of “beefy.”

Such are the little darts that Gulliver must suffer from the Lilliputians . . .

Both Breitbart and McCain can be described in the same way as Lincoln described Grant:

I can’t spare this man; he fights!

Yup that’s about right.

“Disputed East Jerusalem” Mika?

Oh and one more thing Mika, there is no dispute about East Jerusalem, Israel took it in the 1967 war. It is theirs! There is no dispute about the west bank. Israel took it in the 1967 war. It is theirs. There only reason why Gaza and Sinai are not part of Israel today, because they exchanged Sinai for peace with Egypt and gave Gaza to the “Palestinians” who have transformed it to what it is today.

You might as well refer to “Disputed Texas” or “Disputed Arizona” or “Disputed New Mexico” or “Disputed South Vietnam”. Or the whole “disputed confederacy”.

You might say: ” Peter you aren’t showing the Palestinians much respect.” My answer: Respect has to be earned.
