Yet another 48 hours The Saga of the traveling Olver Sign continues…

Decided to grab something fast on the way to WCRN yesterday so I went up John Fitch Highway and look what I found:

The saga of Fitchburg’s marvelous traveling Olver sign on John Fitch Highway continues! I was surprised to see it at the Mall near Burger King ,but a closer look made an interesting discovery

Where is the sign? Just over the line!

When I drove by it looked like it was at the Mall but while I was at the “Pay” window I found out the mulch was on the Burger king side. I asked the guy at the window (a shift leader) where the line was (mulch is Burger King up to the curb), and if it was corporate owned or franchise, (franchise), when I pointed out the sign he was surprised, he said the owner would never put out a sign, but he hadn’t noticed it because due to the placement you #1 couldn’t see it from the BK’s entrance and #2 You couldn’t tell what property it was on, this photo shows how close it was to the line.

Is it at the Burger King or the Mall?

That’s as far from the BK sign as you can get.

With all the Bill Gunn signs I’ve seen, (the BK shift leader noted seeing all of them too) if the guy wants to have a sign up on his property he certainly has a right to have one. I again took a little film:

This was about 12:45 p.m. At 7:45 I took my wife to dinner, and on the way home I drove by the location, guess what was missing? Didn’t have the camera with me so I couldn’t film it.

That sign is like Charlie on the MTA, will it ever return?

How scared is John Olver?

Well I’ll tell you he is apparently so scared that 48 hours after this picture…

…of the only John Olver sign I’ve seen in town went up. His guys felt compelled to take it down:

Yesterday on twitter I was talking to someone called Loud Liberal who said the following:

I’d give you 10 to 1 odds that Olver wins.

and:

Bill Gunn can consider his campaign a HUGE success if he gets 30% of the vote.

Let me tell you this: If John Olver’s campaign is so worried that about two photos and a couple of youtube videos from a blogger in a hat that his guys have to pull the only sign I see in town then perhaps Bill Gunn is not the one who might be lucky to get 30% in November.

One busy night from Gunn to Reading

Started the evening in Townsend Mass. Where Bill Gunn was holding a town hall after his return from Washington

His fans were already out in force holding signs large and small:

Some of the younger guys not only took signs but as the event started went back to parade them for motorists returning home via Route 119

All the cool kids are supporting the guy who rides a motercycle

And Bill took the time to meet with some of the voters before things got started:

Bill gave me a few minutes telling me a bit about the Beck Rally (he attended), approving of any pro-business moves the administration makes (while stating bluntly they are trying to buy votes at the last minute), He told me his plans for September 11th (Event at Fitchburg State University) and broke some news telling me that John Olver has challenged him to three debates and he has accepted. (I was under the impression that 20 year incumbents generally don’t see the need to have multiple debates with new challengers. Better get Olver off the triage list STAT!)

From there my next stop was the Reading Tea Party where 4 other candidates for Congress spoke:

Keith Lepor never told me he was a combat reporter in Afghanistan who is only alive to challenge Stephen Lynch because his body armor stopped a short that hit him square in the heart:

When I asked him why he never mentioned it during my interview with him last week he answered “You never asked.”

I met two candidates for the republican nomination to face John Tierney in the Mass 6th District first Rob McCarthy

And secondly Bill Hudak who I first met and Scott Brown’s victory party and who gets a lot of credit for announcing early way before the republican tide started to sweep the land:

Either would be a better alternative that Tierney we also met Gerry Dembrowski one of two republicans seeking to retire Ed Markey in the 7th district:

He emphasized that the current economic woes can be traced to longtime congressmen like Markey who let things get this far. We also had state rep candidate for the 9th Essex district airline pilot Ray Igou:

I found him very impressive, we need more like him on the state level.

The Axis of Fedora strikes again!

Of course the big news of the night was the expansion of the axis of fedora.
