Posts Tagged ‘life is good’

to Sullivan’s syndrome as this blog has lately become all Charles and Robert all the time. (well not quite all but it seems that way).

It’s been good for my numbers but it’s not good for mind or the soul to obsess on this or any matter. So here is what I’m going to do:

I’m going to limit myself to one post on the subject a day (not including the round by round), the last post today on the subject will be round 7 (and an exciting round it has been so far) later tonight. I’ll of course still answer comments on these threads. Tomorrow I’ll have a single post in the morning and perhaps round 8 at night or I’ll combine the two of them into one in the evening.

But there is cleaning in the house to do, a $20 bill missing that I’ve got to find, my amazon vine thing coming up, Rush on Leno and Dinner for the family that needs buying and cooking and other assorted errands and phone calls to make.

Those things are known as real life and I’ve got to make sure I don’t neglect it.

railroad tycoon boardgameMy review of tonight’s gamenight Game Railroad Tycoon the boardgame is available at Amazon.com Here.

It’s always a good choice for game night since we never know if we will end up with 5 , 6 or 7 players for the day. Tycoon can accommodate all those numbers and is a fast enough game that we can get it in twice a night.

Yeah I know there is a lot of politics to discuss and I haven’t nearly finished ribbing Charles as much as I plan to, but you know what, although all of that is good fun it’s more important to put the computer aside once in a while and just sit with friends and play.

Life is what you make of it, if you make it all worries even when times are tough you can forget to live it.

I might be totally wrong about this, but I suspect along that line Charles just needs to walk away for a few days and just enjoy the bikes, and the Jazz and all the wonderful things life has in store. Or if he doesn’t get as much pleasure from his music itself play it for someone else and share their pleasure in your gift and efforts. Even in the worst of times there are good memories to call upon and reasons to smile from a good meal to a relaxing song to a silly piece of comedy.

Gamenight is just one of those sources for me, I don’t know how many you have, but you can never have enough pleasant things in your life. I get the feeling Robert Stacy has these things and Charles needs more of em.

Why make enemies when there are so many friends just waiting to be made?

On a day where this blog has talked a lot about being proudly banned by little green footballs for daring to defend Rush Limbaugh, Honorary Lizardoid last night. , leave it to James Carville of all people to remind us of what really counts.

My wife and I actually saw it yesterday and it made us both smile, it certainly put being proudly banned by lgf for daring to defend Rush Limbaugh, Honorary Lizardoid in perspective…

…but I’m going to keep tweaking Chucky about it anyway. At least until he puts up a post specifically removing Rush’s Honorary Lizardoid status.

With yet another tape now on smuggling illegals across the border the paradigm has shifted.

Acorn was undoubtedly hoping that suspending business and starting an internal investigation would buy time and give cover to House Democrats to justify either delaying or voting against defunding them under the “all the facts aren’t in yet” theory.

But with governors and states and pols happy to take a swing at them some like AHNULD (with apologies to Frank J) get free brownie points that they desperately need and John Stewart hitting them and the media the MSM can no longer ignore the story (hell even Charles reported on it, well linked to Acorn’s CEO’s press release and put “sting” in quotes) . Even Gibbs is backing away.

Yesterday Hoyer said this:

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., told reporters Tuesday that the behavior shown on the videotapes was “despicable,” but that it isn’t clear whether problems at Acorn are isolated. If such behavior is widespread, Hoyer said, “I think we need to look very carefully at the assistance that we give.”

Now that we have three states and DC and 5 tapes with likely more to come that position is not tenable. Once the actual smuggling of illegals was part of the story the game was over. If the democrats in Congress are in any way smart they will ram through a 400-35 or some lopsided bill to de-fund acorn NOW and be seen doing it. If they do not then the blue dogs will end up joining republicans to attempt to force a vote and Nancy Pelosi doesn’t need that added to her plate.

One last thing: Conservatives in General and the GOP in particular need to remember that the midterms are still 14 months away and a lot can happen in that time. If the GOP members of congress overreach in the same way as the Democrats have then all the advantages they currently enjoy can go poof.
