McChrystal expendable, Logan not?

There are some things that are just too ridiculous to be believed.

CBS News’ #2 exec made a strange confession to Broadcasting & Cable magazine: the network isn’t covering Afghanistan as much as it used to because war correspondent Lara Logan is out on maternity leave.

“I would think that the biggest factor in how much less we’ve had on the air really has to do with Lara Logan’s pregnancy than it does with anything else,” CBS News Executive VP Paul Friedman said.

Via National Review which posted on the Huff Po story with one word: Unbelievable!

Are you telling me in an era when reporters are dropping like flys there isn’t anyone available to cover the war? Hey maybe we can get the Taliban to agree to a cease fire till Logan is done with her maternity leave?

Hey CBS why don’t you offer a contract to one of the two Michaels? Yon or Totten?

Cripes no wonder the MSM is sinking like a rock.

Morning Joe is playing the “89 year old” card…

…when talking about Helen Thomas; Joe suggesting that they: “Get her a cake and retire her”. The tone of Savannah Guthrie et/al was old lady sad thing (choice 5 see link above) but Anthony Weiner was having none of it, pointing to her last press conference going after Israel. Everyone in the media at that table looks really uncomfortable.

And remember of the MSM, Morning Joe is the most balanced, on the other networks it’s going to be even worse.

This is one of the reasons why I like Helen Thomas keeping her job, every day she does is an uncomfortable day for the MSM and for those who oppose Israel.

The White House is VERY lucky that Rush is gone for two weeks. If HE called for her resignation on his show then it would be rock and hard place time.

For starters, this is a classic gaffe because Helen Thomas accidentally told the truth. She’s wrong on the substance, obviously. But of course she believes the Israelis should go away. I sincerely doubt there is anyone familiar with Thomas who really doubts for a moment that she was being less than honest when she made her “back to Poland” comments or that she is lying now when she says she didn’t mean it.

But beyond that, can we do away with all of the shock and dismay at Thomas’ statement? Spare me Lanny Davis’s wounded outrage. Everyone knows she is a nasty piece of work and has been a nasty piece of work for decades.

…and his examples are not just about Israel.

Talk about being validated quickly

Just 12 hours ago I wrote this:

The new Fiscal commission has one single purpose: To give congressional democrats political cover for the creation of a national VAT/sales tax. Even rank and file democrats aren’t going to support this, but once there is a commission then the media will make it the “responsible” decision and the lemmings who walk with the democrats and the media will do so.

Right on cue here is the Washington post describing the VAT as responsible:

The sensible real-world answer, many economists argue, is a value-added tax that would encourage saving at the same time it pays down the deficit to manageable levels. But politicians are terrified of being right too soon on this one.

As opposed to actually freezing and/or cutting government which for some reason isn’t a sensible answer.

Unfortunately for David Ignatius et/al the public see through this stuff as Rasumssan reports:

President Obama this week formally kicked off meetings of his bipartisan deficit reduction commission, but most Americans view the commission as cover for Congress to raise taxes.

I think people might have finally decided they’ve had enough and all the MSM advocacy in the world is not going to change it.

The Human shields of the media

One thing that has really struck me about the Arizona Law has been the almost united media reaction of how dare they.

They are beating their breasts, calling them Nazis, vowing not to do business in Arizona and posturing themselves to prove how pure they are on civil rights by bravely standing in opposition to the people of Arizona and their police.

Yet they won’t show a clip of Southpark without censoring Mohammed’s image.

That is why I call them the media human shields. Like the one’s in Iraq they “bravely” stood up to American troops fully knowing that they were in no danger from them. The media likewise will bravely stand up to Arizona police and voters because they know their “bravery” puts them in absolutely no danger.

They will however not stand up to radical Islam for the same reason why those same human shields would not go to Israel during rocket attacks nor during China during protest. They know the difference between real danger and posturing and won’t risk their necks.
