Question: What do Bob Herbert of the New York Times and a six year old child afraid of Monsters in her closet have in common?

What is the reliability myopic Bob Herbert afraid of that doesn’t exist? Why Tea party violence of course:

But I worry about the potential for violence that grows out of unrestrained, hostile bombast. We’ve seen it so often. A little more than two weeks after the 1963 March on Washington, the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham was bombed by the Ku Klux Klan and four young black girls were killed. And three months after the march, Jack Kennedy was assassinated.

Well yeah you know what happens when conservatives get angry, there was the Bill Sparkman murder, oops that was a staged suicide, they stab Muslim cab drivers, no wait that was a supporter of the park 51, or they firebomb democratic congressman’s offices, oh wait that was a liberal blogger who is suspected of that, well what about the death threats and shots fired at a party office this week? Sorry those were fired at a GOP office and the death threats were against Freedom Works a pro tea-party group. Ok so they aren’t all that violent but they do throw eggs at buses of people who oppose them, oh wait

Where is he getting these delusions? Why the Southern Law and Poverty Center of course and they do have a history of seeing growing threats:

How did this story line grow? Many of the claims that extremism is on the rise in America originate in research done by the Southern Poverty Law Center, an Alabama-based group that for nearly 40 years has tracked what it says is the growing threat of intolerance in the United States. These days, the SPLC is issuing new warnings of new threats. But today’s warnings sound an awful lot like those of the past.

In 1989, the SPLC warned of the growing threat of skinheads, saying, “Not since the height of Klan activity during the civil-rights era has there been a white supremacist group so obsessed with violence.”

In 1992, the SPLC warned of the growing threat of other white supremacist groups, which it claimed had grown by 27 percent from the year before.

In 1995, the SPLC warned of the growing threat of right-wing militias.

In 1998, the SPLC warned of the growing threat of Internet-based hate groups that, according to one press account, had “created the biggest surge in hate in America in years.”

In 1999, the SPLC warned that the growing threat of Web-based hate groups was growing even more, with a 60 percent increase from the year before.

In 2002, the SPLC warned of the growing threat of post-Sept. 11 hate groups, which it said had grown 12 percent between 2000 and 2001.

In 2004, the SPLC warned (again) of the growing threat of skinhead groups, whose numbers it said had doubled in the previous year.

In 2008, the SPLC warned of the growing threat of hate groups overall, whose number it said increased 48 percent since 2000.

And in 2010, just a few weeks ago, the SPLC warned of the growing threat of “patriot” groups, which it said increased by 244 percent in 2009.

In the world of the Southern Poverty Law Center, the threat is always growing. Ronald Reagan’s policies led to a growing threat. The first Gulf War led to a growing threat. The election of Bill Clinton led to a growing threat. The Internet led to a growing threat. Sept. 11 led to a growing threat. The war in Iraq led to a growing threat. Is it any wonder that Obama’s presidency has, in the SPLC’s estimation, led to a growing threat?

Well mathematically sooner or later there is bound to be an incident they can point to (lemon soaked paper napkin anyone?), perhaps he can write the column in advance like an obit and wait until something happens and then he can sub in the place and date.

memeorandum thread here.

One of my many Nephews (Italian Family you know) has very little in common with me: I am bald he has a full head of hair, He is ripped I am fat, I wear a beard, he is clean shaven, he plays several instruments from violin to guitar, I don’t. He is very single and looking, I’ve been married for 22 years, I am very Catholic, he is not but we discuss and debate religion whenever we talk.

We both however have one thing in common and that’s a very different set of priorities than the Ewock Women of Emily’s list.

The Ewock women of Emily’s list publicly support abortion with every fiber of their being. They consider it such a priority that they declare the willingness to sacrifice the lives of their grandchildren as an expression of love for their daughters.

My nephew Matt has told me that it is a Sine Non Qua before even considering dating a woman that she be pro life. In Massachusetts that really narrows the field, when asked he told me bluntly. “I don’t want to end up with any woman willing to slaughter our daughter or son.”

My no drugs, no booze no sex rules not withstanding, I would never want any grandchild of mine to ever think I disappointed by their birth. I would much rather see rings on fingers first, but whenever they come, I will be pleased to see them.

It’s is love vs hate. Matt and I love our children and grandchildren that we have never seen so much that we will sacrifice to protect them. The Ewock of Emily’s list, a group that is supposed to be exist to advance women in office, hate Sarah Palin so much that they proudly declare their grandchildren expendable.

apparently Keith David Halloran wants her dead.

Now in fairness I’m sure he was just voicing what many others on the left are smart enough not to say aloud but still it’s an embarrassment to the party and the NH GOP is jumping all over it:

“Mr. Halloran’s outrageous comments are a new low, even by the standards of the New Hampshire Democrat Party,” said NHGOP Communications Director Ryan Williams. “His publicly stated death wish for Governor Palin and her family is abhorrent, and has no place in our public discourse. Governor Lynch and Ann McLane Kuster need to immediately denounce Mr. Halloran’s hateful remarks and demand that he personally apologize to the Palin family.”

It is said that a gaffe is defined as saying what you actually think out loud. Mr. Halloran’s comments can be officially considered a “gaffe”

Update: The defeat I am referring to is her candidate Handel losing in Ga.

Update 2: Memeorandum thread here

…nor have I given any attention to the Levi Johnston tell all book story. Ace describes it as shocking, balderdash Ace balderdash, it is no more shocking than the feeding frenzy over this video.

Why? Because both represent the fact that Sarah Palin represents hits and profit. Every time Sarah Palin is mentioned on a blog it produces hits, in a book it produces sales, on the TV it produces ratings.

True the media/left is desperate to discredit her in any way possible and this lamest of latest attempt would shame an actual adult if they didn’t understand or were paid based on the understanding that she is a ratings/sales machine for right and left and leftist “journalists” (or maybe in this case “journolists” gotta eat in a lean economy.

If this is the story that rises to the top of memeorandum (and warrants a Newsweek article, no wonder the whole mag is worth less than a double cheeseburger at Burger king) it is simply testimony affirming the inability of the left to cope with Sarah Palin on any level.

Simple abject fear. Since they can’t beat her at least they’ll get some hits off her.

There are so many memeorandum threads I don’t know which one to pick?

My suggestion? Skip em all!

Update: And remember the occasional positive side effect not withstanding Sullivan’s syndrome is spread by contact!
