Has he even been sworn in yet?

A Newsmax/Zogby poll shows the Massachusetts Republican within striking range of Obama in a hypothetical presidential matchup.

The poll shows the pair statistically deadlocked if the presidential election were held today.

And of course we have already established that Zobgy is less accurate than overweight Sicilians in Fedoras. (Hey maybe what he needs is to hire an $800 a week Sicilian in a fedora? Tucker hasn’t called and time is running out.) Anyone who even THINKS of him as presidential material in 2012 deserves a wedgie!

And 2016 is too early as well.

Not out of Africa: Amazon Review

My review of Mary Lefkowitz book Not Out Of Africa: How “Afrocentrism” Became An Excuse To Teach Myth As History is available at Amazon.com here.

It was the reaction to this book published years ago where a humble scholar of ancient history tried preserve the historical record from an attempt to edit it for the sake of political correctness that directly led to the events chronicled in her second volume.

There very fact that either of these books needed to be written is a crime against scholarship and history.

A MU-ik Videoh! Well we central mass Rednecks are outraged thar! That rock and roll stuff leads to a wiggling and a gyratin and next thing you know you end teaching kids to go ’round with near nutton on ‘tal!

You know I was always under the impression that our friends on the left were supposed to be more well “liberal” about this kind of stuff. I’m sure they must believe this music video disqualifies her from her position at WCVB.

The media here is pretty liberal but I’m wondering if the people at Chanel 5 are rethinking that. They know Gail, they know she kept quiet as things were said about her husband and daughters, I think this is going to backfire. It certainly isn’t going to endear the Huffpo to people who have watched her locally for many many years.

If knowing him made a difference to voters then knowing her will make a difference to local reporters.

One word: Dishonorable.

Update: The Lonely conservative is wondering why he posted on the subject. Why so I would link back of course! The real question is why Robert Stacy hasn’t posted on the subject yet. If there is one thing I’ve learned about him in the last week it’s he has an eye for a beautiful girl. Meep (who I mistakenly thought was Dan’s wife) at POWIP says this:

I find the whole thing very puzzling, in that these people pride themselves as being very knowledgeable, but cannot figure out what would be actually offensive to Massachusetts voters, even the conservative ones. We might be social conservatives, but we’re not the group who thinks females ought to be covered in black tents. These people keep crowing about eschewing stereotypes, and then invent some cardboard cutout idea of what a conservative is.

Yup that’s pretty much it.

Update 2: Pirate’s cove has a point:

I’m convinced. Scott Brown is not qualified to be a U.S. Senator. Next thing you know, we’ll find out that he had sex. With his wife!

He Just doesn’t fit in.

Update 3: Robert Stacy Links me all over. The fact that some people are making what they are of this say a whole lot more about them then it does about Scott Brown. (And yes this is identical to the other update, I’m cheep when it comes to pixels too.)

Small bad laws are just as bad as big ones

A lot of the right (and some of the left) is outraged over the impending passage of the heath care bill it it’s current form (whatever that actually is).

As I said to my old friend the rightwinggamer in comments:

This doesn’t actually bother me all that much in the sense that I didn’t expect better from this congress and that as a nation we made the foolish decision to elect them. We did this to ourselves so we have to take our medicine.

I’m actually much more outraged by this:

Private recycling programs weren’t good enough because the city wants to monitor our compliance. If there are all sorts of different recycling bins, placed where shopkeepers want them, how will the people — AKA the government — know if the mandate is boosting our bag-related virtue over the 10% level? The unenforced mandate, mind you. Now, not only will the people know how many bags are recycled, the people will know how much the mere idea of being supposed to do something produces the intended result. Think there will be a decline from the current 10%? You don’t know Madison.

My beef is really with this line from the actual story Ann References:

Fines for failing to recycle bags range from $100 to $400 a year, but city recycling coordinator George Dreckmann stressed that the city had no intention of enforcing the law emphasis mine

There is nothing that irritates me more than passing a law you aren’t going to enforce, it is a waste of resources and time. Even worse such laws can be selectively enforced to pressure or punish people if the desire arises. And this is local government, a national government might neglect or overlook some things due to its sheer size but a local government is close to the people it should know better.

I know very little about Madison, nothing from direct experience, I live in a city that is broke and where violence and drugs are a real problem.

If these are the people I’d be dealing with rather given the choice I think I’ll stay here.

In both cases the voters put these people in, and in both cases we the voters will get what’s coming to us.
