I was perusing the net this morning when I found an open thread at Ace’s place that linked to this series of vintage ads.

It is pretty clear that none of those ads would pass muster in the west today, but looking that them a 2nd time. It would seem to me that most of them would pass muster in the Islamic world.

So my question is this: Look at the vintage ads in the link and tell me how many would be unacceptable in the Middle east?

In fact let’s have a poll

I think it’s an interesting question

Question: How bad are things actually for the democratic party and liberals?

When you leave the WW 2 memorial trashed after your rally, that’s bad

When you need Oprah to pay for people to go to your event, that’s worse.

But when you find yourself taking polls about a race that doesn’t exist, against an opponent that isn’t running to make an incumbent democratic senator look strong. That’s just idiotic:

The answer is not so well. Nelson leads Limbaugh 50-36 in that hypothetical match up. Nelson would have his party base pretty well locked up, independents would go for him overwhelmingly by a 58-30 margin, and even 21% of Republicans say they’d prefer Nelson to Limbaugh.

Earth to PPP Nelson isn’t running against Limbaugh and never will be. You make yourselves look like fools when this is what you are writing about 17 days before an election.

Q: How insanely paranoid is Andrew O’Hehir’s review of the movie Secretariat?

And Ebert is about as far let as it gets.
Ebert’s article starts thus:

Andrew O’Hehir of Salon is a critic I admire, but he has nevertheless written a review of “Secretariat” so bizarre I cannot allow it to pass unnoticed. I don’t find anywhere in “Secretariat” the ideology he discovers there. In its reasoning, his review resembles a fevered conspiracy theory.

Read the whole thing along with Ebert’s review of the film here.

Of course if you prefer your red meat from a red source there is always John Nolte at Big Hollywood who says:

O’Hehir’s divisive, race-bating language should look familiar to you. This is what the Left does when they’re losing power and out of attractive ideas to launch any kind of comeback. It’s the language of desperate left-wing politicians and their media allies when facing everyday Americans with the temerity to speak out against ObamaCare and a failed stimulus in townhall meetings; it’s the language of White House surrogates desperate to dishonestly shame into silence the millions who organized Tea Parties after waking up to the nightmarish realization that Obama wasn’t kidding about fundamentally transforming America, and now O’Hehir has opened up this new front.

I had no interest in this movie, I was alive when this happened. The Horse ran and won, but I’m tempted to do so just to make him go Kryten

Q: What is the difference between a candidate the National Republican shuns and the National Republican party embraces:

Before anyone becomes carried away by the beauty of it all, it should be said that the developments are not really a Kumbaya moment. GOP officials have been astounded by the amount of money — $1 million — that O’Donnell has raised in the hours since her surprise primary victory over Republican Rep. Mike Castle. As much as anything, it is O’Donnell’s fundraising bonanza that is warming hearts at the NRSC. “We have 45 days until the election,” the source said. “We need to be united.”

How many thousands of $10 & $20 & $100 dollar donations did that include. How many voters does that add up to that you don’t want to get angry and hope to hit up for contributions later.

When you have one million in the bank it isn’t hard to get a date is it?

Update: Make sure you aren’t drinking when you read this quote from Karl “I was with her all the time” Rove:

I Endorsed O’Donnell the Other Night… I Helped Her Raise That $750,000

I’m surprised Jim (Gateway Pundit) Hoff was able to type it out, he must have been cracking up at the sight of it.
