Christ before the Sanhedrin (Wikipedia commons)

The High Priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and his doctrine. Jesus answered him saying:

“I have spoken publicly to the world. I have always taught in a synagogue or in the temple area where the Jews gather and in secret I have said nothing. Why ask me? Ask those who heard me what I said to them. They know what I said.”

When he said this, one of the temple guards standing there struck him and said: “Is this the way you answer the High Priest?” Jesus answered him:

If I have spoken wrongly, testify to the wrong, but if I have spoken rightly, why do you strike me?”

John 18:19-23

As everyone knows Charlie Kirk was a follower of Jesus Christ and it seems they had one thing in common.

Jesus was accused of all sorts of wrong by the Sanhedrin but despite speaking publicly in front of multitudes they were unable to find testimony that showed him guilty of anything.

Likewise we see Democrats from AOC to Ilan Omar along with multiple celebs and activists on the left claim that Charlie Kirk was a racist, a fascist, a homophobe and a white supremacist, they call him head of the modern Hitler youth, when they’re not cheering his murder that is or booing the idea of praying for him & his family.

But there is one thing that they DON’T do. They never link to video to back up these claims.

This is rather odd if you think about it. Charlie Kirk like Christ, spoke openly, he was at campus’ all over the nation and was interviewed all over the world. There are literally hundreds of videos showing him taking questions and answering them going back years. You don’t have to ask the people who heard him as Christ suggested, you can literally see what he said.

Yet none of these leftist calling Kirk all these names do so, why?

Well the answer comes from Catholic Cardinal who had no idea who Charlie Kirk was.

Here is the quote:

Timothy Cardinal Dolan on Charlie Kirk – “The more I learned about him, I thought this guy is a modern-day Saint Paul. He was a missionary, an evangelist, a hero.”

You see not knowing who Charlie was and not being familiar with his work he went online and checked out the videos and came to the conclusion that he was a hero.

And THAT’S why the left doesn’t dare link to any video to support their charges, because a person seeing the videos, the questions and the answers will see for themselves that their charges are unsubstantiated by the facts and that they are in fact liars.

The irony here is that Charlie, being very familiar with scripture would expect nothing less because as a servant of Christ he would remember the warning given to his disciples during the last supper discourses:

If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you.

Remember the word I spoke to you,  ‘No slave is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. And they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin; but as it is they have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates me also hates my Father.

John 15:18-23

The world hated Charlie Kirk, because the world is loyal to the prince of the world. That’s why those loyal to the prince of this world cheered his death loudly and publicly.

Michael Corleone: It was Hyman Roth that tried to have me killed. I know it was him.
Frankie Pentangeli: Now — Jesus Christ, Mike, Jesus Christ. Look, let’s get ’em all — let’s get ’em all now, while we got the muscle.
Michael Corleone: This used to be my father’s old study — it’s changed. I remember there used to be a big desk, right here. I remember when I was a kid, Frankie, we had to be very quiet when we played near here. I was very happy that this house never went to strangers — first Clemenza took it over, now you. My father taught me many things here — he taught me in this room. He taught me — keep your friends close but your enemies closer. Now, if Hyman Roth sees that I interceded in this thing, and the Rosato brothers failed him, he’s gonna think his relationship with me is still good. Capide?
Frankie Pentangeli: Capide.
Michael Corleone: That’s what I want him to think. I want him completely relaxed, and confident, in our friendship. Then I’ll be able to find out who the traitor in my family was.

The Godfather Part 2 1974

Tomorrow is Divine Mercy Sunday and for the first time in a lot of years I won’t be around for the many Divine Mercy events that are taking place in churches around the world as part of this day.

But I CAN complete the Divine Mercy Novena with this prayer that really is critical:

Today bring to Me SOULS WHO HAVE BECOME LUKEWARM,* and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. These souls wound My Heart most painfully. My soul suffered the most dreadful loathing in the Garden of Olives because of lukewarm souls. They were the reason I cried out: ‘Father, take this cup away from Me, if it be Your will.’ For them, the last hope of salvation is to run to My mercy.

Most compassionate Jesus, You are Compassion Itself. I bring lukewarm souls into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart. In this fire of Your pure love, let these tepid souls, who, like corpses, filled You with such deep loathing, be once again set aflame. O Most Compassionate Jesus, exercise the omnipotence of Your mercy and draw them into the very ardor of Your love, and bestow upon them the gift of holy love, for nothing is beyond Your power.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon lukewarm souls who are nonetheless enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Father of Mercy, I beg You by the bitter Passion of Your Son and by His three-hour agony on the Cross: Let them, too, glorify the abyss of Your mercy. Amen.

At the conclusion of the prayers pray the chaplet. Instructions are here.

Let me close with three things about lukewarm souls:

First in Scripture Christ specifically admonishes being Lukewarm

“To the angel of the church in Laodicea, write this: ” ‘The Amen, the faithful and true witness, the source of God’s creation, says this:

“I know your works; I know that you are neither cold nor hot.  I wish you were either cold or hot. So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. For you say, ‘I am rich and affluent and have no need of anything,’ and yet do not realize that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.

I advise you to buy from me gold refined by fire so that you may be rich, and white garments to put on so that your shameful nakedness may not be exposed, and buy ointment to smear on your eyes so that you may see. Those whom I love, I reprove and chastise. Be earnest, therefore, and repent.”

‘”Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, (then) I will enter his house and dine with him, and he with me. I will give the victor the right to sit with me on my throne, as I myself first won the victory and sit with my Father on his throne.”

‘”Whoever has ears ought to hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”‘”

Revelation 3:14-22

Second in the Screwtape letters C. S. Lewis talks specifically about how easy the lukewarm follow the gentle path to damnation.

You will say that these are very small sins; and doubtless, like all young tempters, you are anxious to be able to report spectacular wickedness. But do remember, the only thing that matters is the extent to which you separate the man from the Enemy. It does not matter how small the sins are provided that their cumulative effect is to edge the man away from the Light and out into the Nothing. Murder is no better than cards if cards can do the trick. Indeed the safest road to Hell is the gradual one—the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts,

Finally it is the lukewarm that need this mercy the most because they don’t realize or are in denial of the danger they are in. The best explanation of how this works comes from the end of a sermon from St. Leonard of Port Maurice which was on the subject of if most Catholics are damned or saved:

As for the rest, compare these two opinions: the first one states that the greater number of Catholics are condemned; the second one, on the contrary, pretends that the greater number of Catholics are saved. Imagine an Angel sent by God to confirm the first opinion, coming to tell you that not only are most Catholics damned, but that of all this assembly present here, one alone will be saved. If you obey the Commandments of God, if you detest the corruption of this world, if you embrace the Cross of Jesus Christ in a spirit of penance, you will be that one alone who is saved.

Now imagine the same Angel returning to you and confirming the second opinion. He tells you that not only are the greater portion of Catholics saved, but that out of all this gathering, one alone will be damned and all the others saved. If after that, you continue your usuries, your vengeances, your criminal deeds, your impurities, then you will be that one alone who is damned.

That’s why being lukewarm is of the greatest danger. When you feel completely safe is the time of greatest peril. There is a reason why I led this post with Michael Corleone’s instructions to Frank Pentangeli. The Devil wants you to feel safe, to feel secure, to decide that your sins are not a big deal. To decide you don’t need confession, that your sins are trivial, that you don’t need Divine Mercy. He wants you completely relaxed and confident so that when the day of your death comes you will not be prepared and it will not only be too late but he will take great pleasure in reminding you of all the chances to had to take advantage of the mercy of God, but passed them up.

So do not fail to take advantage of this great feast of Divine Mercy. Wash yourself clean via the blood of Christ and get yourself going in the right direction.

Because you are not promised tomorrow, cripes you aren’t even promised the rest of today.

It’s been a rough Lent and Easter Season for me but I can take solace in one of my favorite Gospel’s today:

That very day, the first day of the week, two of Jesus’ disciples were going to a village seven miles from Jerusalem called Emmaus, and they were conversing about all the things that had occurred. And it happened that while they were conversing and debating, Jesus himself drew near and walked with them, but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him. He asked them, “What are you discussing as you walk along?”
They stopped, looking downcast. One of them, named Cleopas, said to him in reply, “Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know of the things that have taken place there in these days?” And he replied to them,
“What sort of things?”

They said to him, “The things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, how our chief priests and rulers both handed him over
to a sentence of death and crucified him. But we were hoping that he would be the one to redeem Israel;
and besides all this, it is now the third day since this took place. Some women from our group, however, have astounded us: they were at the tomb early in the morning and did not find his Body; they came back and reported that they had indeed seen a vision of angels who announced that he was alive. Then some of those with us went to the tomb and found things just as the women had described, but him they did not see.”

And he said to them,

“Oh, how foolish you are! How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?”
Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them what referred to him in all the Scriptures. As they approached the village to which they were going, he gave the impression that he was going on farther. But they urged him, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.”
So he went in to stay with them. And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight. Then they said to each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us on the way and opened the Scriptures to us?” So they set out at once and returned to Jerusalem
where they found gathered together the Eleven and those with them who were saying,
“The Lord has truly been raised and has appeared to Simon!” Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way
and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.

Luke 24 13-35

I figure if these two disciples who knew him personally had to be spoon fed my own weaknesses aren’t going to finish me off.

Anyways here is day 6

Today bring to Me THE MEEK AND HUMBLE SOULS AND THE SOULS OF LITTLE CHILDREN, and immerse them in My mercy. These souls most closely resemble My Heart. They strengthened Me during My bitter agony. I saw them as earthly Angels, who will keep vigil at My altars. I pour out upon them whole torrents of grace. Only the humble soul is capable of receiving My grace. I favor humble souls with My confidence.

Most Merciful Jesus, You yourself have said, “Learn from Me for I am meek and humble of heart.” Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart all meek and humble souls and the souls of little children. These souls send all heaven into ecstasy and they are the heavenly Father’s favorites. They are a sweet-smelling bouquet before the throne of God; God Himself takes delight in their fragrance. These souls have a permanent abode in Your Most Compassionate Heart, O Jesus, and they unceasingly sing out a hymn of love and mercy.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon meek souls, upon humble souls, and upon little children who are enfolded in the abode which is the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls bear the closest resemblance to Your Son. Their fragrance rises from the earth and reaches Your very throne. Father of mercy and of all goodness, I beg You by the love You bear these souls and by the delight You take in them: Bless the whole world, that all souls together may sing out the praises of Your mercy for endless ages. Amen.

At the conclusion of the prayers pray the chaplet. Instructions are here.

It’s Easter Monday and there is a point I want to make about the Gospel reading of the day:

Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went away quickly from the tomb, fearful yet overjoyed, and ran to announce the news to his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them on their way and greeted them. They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage. Then Jesus said to them,

“Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”

While they were going, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had happened. The chief priests assembled with the elders and took counsel; then they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came by night and stole him while we were asleep.’ And if this gets to the ears of the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” The soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has circulated among the Jews to the present day.

Matthew 28:8-15

I always thought this was funny because if you think about it for a moment the level of absurdity is astounding. They wanted people to believe that a bunch of people with no military training who cut and run when Jesus was arrested were willing to confront armed soldiers of the Roman Empire to steal Jesus’ body without any fear of what kind of retaliation would come from Pilate for assaulting Roman soldiers or breaking a Roman seal.

Seriously? They really believed people were going to buy that?

Anyways here’s the novena prayers for day 4 of the Divine Mercy Novena ironically those Roman’s might have been some of those people Christ was talking about:

Today bring to Me The PAGANS AND THOSE WHO DO NOT YET KNOW ME. I was thinking also of them during My bitter Passion, and their future zeal comforted My Heart. Immerse them in the ocean of My mercy.

Most compassionate Jesus, You are the Light of the whole world. Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who do not believe in God and of those who as yet do not know You. Let the rays of Your grace enlighten them that they, too, together with us, may extol Your wonderful mercy; and do not let them escape from the abode which is Your Most Compassionate Heart.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of those who do not believe in You, and of those who as yet do not know You, but who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Draw them to the light of the Gospel. These souls do not know what great happiness it is to love You. Grant that they, too, may extol the generosity of Your mercy for endless ages. Amen.

At the conclusion of the prayers pray the chaplet. Instructions are here.
