Palin has it right on CPAC

In my opinion you don’t cede the ground on a position to a different side, you show up and make your case.

I don’t have a problem with those who choose to boycott CPAC, Its their call but I’d just as soon not have the case for marriage conceded. I would think that the hearts and minds of thousands of conservatives in one place, hundreds of bloggers and etc are worth fighting for.

Although I am a Catholic I have to be with Jerry Falwell on this: “I’ll preach in hell if they promise to let me out.” or if you prefer one of my favorite movie reference:

British Captain: “I understood Mr. LaFitte was in command at Barataria.”

Jean LaFitte: “If your offer is good it will stand up under fire.”

The arguments for marriage are good, they stand up under fire. We should go to CPAC and make them.

Update: Lisa Graas who I respect a lot takes the opposite view: Sarah Palin has it wrong on CPAC

Up very early today and was doing paperwork and I noticed Willie Geist playing a clip from Donald Rumsfeld’s interview on ABC about the lack of WMD in Iraq.

This confuses me. Back in Oct and Dec. we posted on the Wikileaks memos (you remember the wikileaks memos? You know the leaks that the left is so supportive of. The leaks that got Mr. Assange a nomination for a Nobel peace prize?) the left was all over the leaks and have even defended the leaker from the military.

Strangely enough that same media and left decided that some of those leaks are more worthy of notice than others. And one of the most unworthy leaks for the MSM are the leaks concerning WMD.

At the time of my first post I quoted Rick Moran from the American Thinker:

Don’t expect any apologies from the rest of the world or even any acknowledgment that they were wrong. The narrative is set and nothing will change it.

ABC’s Diane Sawyer’s interview proves Rick right. Willie Geist’s lead in confirms it, Morning Joe is on Egypt right now but as there is a 2 hour delay today for my kid’s school and I’ll be getting ready for my flight to CPAC tomorrow I’ll be available to watch the rest of the show to see if they touch it too.

Another chance for Mattie Fein? Jane Harmon to resign

I guess the minority is not as attractive as a majority:

California Rep. Jane Harman (D) will resign from Congress, a surprise announcement that will set off a special election in her 36th district.

“This is an excruciating decision because the distinction of representing the smartest constituents on earth will never be surpassed — nor will my relationships with my exceptional staff and colleagues in Congress,” said Harman in an email sent to supporters today.

Harman added that she had filed paperwork with the House to let them know she was “in discussions to succeed former Rep. Lee Hamilton as President and CEO of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.”

The Center is expected to make a decision tomorrow.

It is fitting that the last act of yet another congressional liberal is to cause the expense of a special election for California a state already broke.

I’m sure all those who voted for her are thrilled that they managed to get almost two months of service for their votes. The question before the district is if they want a representative in the majority or in the minority and what would be better for the state?

Stacy McCain does the match on AOL and points out something interesting about the money in the AOL deal:

What it means, I suspect, is that the Left is willing to “invest” in liberal media ventures that are supposedly for-profit but which, in fact, lose money. Because, after all, whose money is being invested? Not theirs.

Five words: Government employee union pension funds.

That, I suggest, explains this whole deal. Private investors are now selling their AOL shares, while managers of pension funds for AFSCME, SEIU and other unions are buying AOL stock, thus providing the investment capital necessary to fund expansion of the Left’s online media presence in advance of Obama’s re-election campaign.

Belvedere notes that this is not an issue for the left:

Profit doesn’t mean much to the Committed Left — not if you mean the word in it’s classical sense [OED: ‘financial gains’]. Oh sure, they need money to fund their various schemes, but the Manic Progressives are always willing to sacrifice dollars for propaganda [see: MSNBC]. Besides, if they play it right, they can always funnel some taxpayer dollars into funding their schemes.

Broadcasting their lies relentlessly until they get absorbed by enough of the masses is a tactic the Leftists have employed successfully for a century now.

The daytime range of my radio show, looks pretty good for ads doesn't it?

I did the math, If I sold every second of every moment of ads for my radio show for one year that comes up to $64,800. If the liberals were to be believed about some giant conservative conspiracy I would have already had the Koch Brothers buying the entire time to support my radio show and blogging for an entire year.

Alas that is not the case, every day I’m going door to door pitching the show, extolling the range of the radio station, the strength of my guest and the appeal of my show to a growing audience, doing my best to make the sale and pay the mortgage.

The “interests” I’m beholden to are Basement Technologies of Western Mass., Aaron Pallet, Putnam Street lanes. and every other advertiser who buys time on my show. Each of them offer valuable services or produces to my listeners and buy ads on my show to attract customers. Yet ironically the left would paint me because I’m a person of the right as beholding to rich interests while at the same time they are paid millions for a product that doesn’t justify its value.

The world is a weird place.
