Mika Brzezinski and Media Bubble Blunders

I have a bit of a soft spot) for Mika Brzezinski I saw that she was willing to make arguments, hear the other side, be content to be a handsome woman putting on a pound or two rather than trying to outbombshell younger rivals, liked the way she and co-host (now husband) Joe Scarborough treated their fans at personal appearance and unlike many of her contemporaries was always unabashed about admitting her biases.

She has however since the rise of Trump, retreated into the bubble of Trump Deranged left, emerging only briefly for her Biden interview, and because of this TDS she has made an elementary mistake, one that she didn’t make when the show quietly passed over the Jeffrey Epstein business during the last campaign, loudly insisting that Twitter take action against Trump after he alluded to an event concerning a female intern who was found dead in her now husband’s office two decades ago.

Brzezinski went on to call on Twitter to censor Trump, and said the Silicon Valley company would be “hearing” from her.

“But the germs you’re spreading on Twitter — first of all, Twitter? You shouldn’t be allowing this. And you should be taking these tweets down. And you should be ashamed of yourself – you’ll be hearing from me on this, because this is BS.”

“But Donald, you’re a sick person,” said Brzezinski, continuing her rant. “You’re really a cruel, sick, disgusting person. And you can keep tweeting about Joe, but you’re just hurting other people. And of course, you’re hurting yourself.”

Brzezinski continued her pressure campaign on Twitter, calling on the CEO, Jack Dorsey, to take down President Trump’s tweets, saying it would make the world “safer.”

Now while it’s never good when the President tweets out a story that one prefers remains forgotten if such a thing is going to happen, the best time for it is during a national crisis where there are plenty of other things to distract people from it. Thus even though the story might be painful and damaging it was likely to fade away pretty quick.

Alas when you live in bubble world such considerations don’t enter into one’s reasoning and Mika decided to make a very public counter which is likely to have a bad effect as explained in this excellent twitter thread.

You see a lot of folks on your side of the fence likely was not aware of Joe Situation and likely may not have even seen the Trump tweet on the subject, but your decision to bring it up means that folks will ask questions and given the cynicism of the age such people are more, rather than less likely, to draw a conclusion you and Joe don’t want made.

Now frankly if you lived outside of the bubble you would have realized that silence was the 2nd best defense here and would have employed it, but because you’ve chosen that quarantine within the NeverTrump world that obvious choice is lost on you and because of this you risk the reputation of your husband not with Trump fans ( who don’t like him anyways) but with your own crowd.

Kinda sad really.

Closing thought: Readers might have noticed I called silence the 2nd best defense. There is an obvious better defense based on DaTechGuy’s 4th law of media outrage which states:

The degree of media exposure of the corruption or illegality committed by any individual or organization under investigation is directly proportional to its distance from the media’s ideology.

On July 20, 2001 the day intern Lori Klausutis was found dead in congressmen Joe Scarborough’s office the left was still reeling from George W. Bush’s victory and deep into the Bush Derangement Syndrome that would not dissipate until 53 days later when Al Qaeda would change the subject. This leads to the obvious question:

Does anyone think for one moment that the mainstream media, still angry over the Bush victory and the Clinton Impeachment (that Scarborough voted for) would not have jumped all over this story and made it national news (particularly given Scarborough’s Sept 5th resignation) and a talking point to hit Republicans over? After all here you have a GOP congressman representing one of the most republican districts in his state, A republican who voted for Slick Billy’s impeachment with a dead female intern in his office. It would be a Godsend for the left Would this have not lead on CNN or MSNBC? Would not the New York Times and Washington Post used this as a club asking every GOP member of congress or the cabinet with devastating effect? Would they not when that congressman resigned seven weeks later suggest it was proof that something was up? Would this not be made a campaign issue in the special congressional election with demands that GOP candidate call for a fuller and deeper investigation?

You bet your ass they would!

And remember this was BEFORE he transformed himself into the type of Republican that Democrats like the most, the type willing to attack the GOP.

That more than anything else tells me there is no “there” there.

This would be the obvious 1st defense to make however to make this defense one has to concede the media as Democrat operatives with bylines and while I’m sure Mika loves her husband even she doesn’t dare use this defense aloud.

Coronavirus lockdowns violate the US Constitution and the Rule of Law

Thanks to our abysmal educational system most of us do not have a proper understanding of the US Constitution, mostly in regards to the relationship between the federal government and states. Under the original understanding of the Constitution the States are mostly independent nations held together by a weak federal government.  That has not changed, only our elected officials have ignored the original meaning. 

The US Constitution as originally ratified only restrained the states in a few key areas, all of which are listed in Article 1 Section 10.  It was very difficult for state laws to violate the US Constitution.   We have been conditioned to mistakenly believe the Supreme Court has the authority overturn state laws and state laws do regularly violate the US Constitution. 

If it was not for the ratification of the Fourteenth Amendment the state Coronavirus lockdowns and other actions would not violate the US Constitution.  Here are the clauses of that amendment which are violated by the state lockdowns.

No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor to deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

The shelter in place orders and similar lockdown orders deprive a large percentage of the inhabitants of the states of their liberty.  Liberty is the freedom to do as you please as long as you don’t hurt anyone.  A state or local government can only deprive an individual of their liberty if that individual has been found guilty in a court of law. There are no exceptions for emergencies.  Forcing stores to close also violates the liberty of the owners and workers of the stores.

Labeling certain individuals as essential and others not essential workers and allowing them to travel based on that classification violates the equal protection clause.  Closing only certain stores also violates the equal protection clause.

According the Section Five of the Fourteenth Amendment the US congress through the formal legislative process not the Supreme Court has the authority to overturn state laws that violate that amendment.  That was done in response to the Dred Scott Case.

Lockdowns violate the Rule of Law.  This concept is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as:

The restriction of the arbitrary exercise of power by subordinating it to well-defined and established laws

These lockdowns are arbitrary rules made up by governors.  They apply only to certain individuals.  They are not well thought out and do tremendous harm.  They are unjust rules.

Be careful which dictionary you use, some are deeply erroneous.  Here is how the Merriam Webster dictionary defines the Rule of Law “a situation in which the laws of a country are obeyed by everyone.” For the Rule of Law to apply the law must be just and it must be a valid law passed by those with the proper authority.  Ignoring or protesting unjust laws are valid methods of maintaining the Rule of Law.

The Coronavirus lockdowns and everything else violate state constitutions and state laws. That is the proper level for fighting these unjust rules and practices.

Three years ago Glenn Reynolds floated a Hypothesis: concerning all this insanity in going after Donald Trump

Hypothesis: The spying-on-Trump thing is worse than we even imagine, and once it was clear Hillary had lost and it would inevitably come out, the Trump/Russia collusion talking point was created as a distraction. 

And two years later added

Such outrageous behavior makes one wonder how much more outrageous is the behavior it’s meant to cover for.

Well apparently it was outrageous enough that Susan Rice while apparently not having an autographed get out of jail free card made sure she had the next best thing:

On Jan. 20, 2017, as President Donald Trump was being inaugurated, former White House National Security Adviser Susan Rice sent herself a bizarre email detailing the Jan. 5 meeting between her, Obama, then-Vice President Joe Biden, then-Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, and fired former Federal Bureau of Investigations Director James Comey. In the email, portions of which were not declassified until recently, Rice recorded that Flynn, who at the time was the incoming national security adviser for Trump, was personally discussed and targeted during the meeting with Obama.

Furthermore:

We have known for more than two years that, on the day of President Trump’s inauguration and just minutes before she left the White House for the last time, Susan Rice, then President Obama’s National Security Adviser, wrote a memo to herself about “Russia.” Specifically, she documented the fact, presumably for her later protection should the matter become public, that on January 5, 2017, President Obama had directed her to lie to her incoming counterpart, General Michael Flynn, about the Russia investigation that was then ongoing, in which General Flynn himself was, unbeknownst to him, one of the targets. This deception violated all historic norms, but it was vital if the Obama holdovers (James Comey et al.) were to be able to continue their “Russia investigation,” a bare pretext for unraveling Trump’s presidency, post-inauguration.

Put simply a corrupt Chicago Pol and his corrupt cronies went all in on corruption in order to prevent the election of Donald Trump and when that failed went all in on Russia in order to provide insurance that their previous corruption would not be uncovered.

All of what we have seen for the last three years, every single bit of this has apparently been about protecting the asses of a bunch of Chicago thugs who used the power of the federal government against their political foes and don’t want to be caught.

To me there are only two questions left:

  • How far will they go in terms of illegality in order to prevent the President’s re-election in order to keep the rest of this from coming out? (my guess is pretty damn far)
  • If they fail to stop President Trump from being re-elected who is going to be the Sgt. Flass who remembers where their notes are hidden?

I think the worst it yet to come and it would not surprise me to see some of those potential Sgt. Flass from the previous administration suffer unfortunate “accidents” to keep them quiet under the Remo “Why take a chance?” rule

Bailout? Guess States Are Missing Those Trump Boom Tax Revenues

There is quite a bit of irony in watching governors like Newsom say this

Newsom told CNN’s “State of the Union” that a state bailout was not “charity” and that Congress has a “moral and ethical obligation” to help Americans across the country.

Let’s point out three things:

First: The Trump boom.

Until the virus hit the country had been booming tax revenues were pouring into states from the strong economies and for all their anti Trump talk, blue states with their excessive pension plans and spending where the one who stood to gain the most from these extra revenues.

Second: The wasted chance

A lot of states that didn’t vote for Trump took that extra revenue that the Trump boom generated and blew it. Massachusetts for one:

Six months ago if you were a Massachusetts business, you were thinking about how you would use those tax cuts to grow your business, now you are thinking if you have 50 employees you are going to have to make sure you can generate an extra $100,000 next year and $400,000 by 2023 to cover the wage increases for those fifty folks, not to mention the taxes that come along with it.

So while business in other states take advantage of both the Trump boom and the Trump tax cut to expand their production, modernize equipment, bring in new workers, pay bonuses to reward their best workers businesses in Massachusetts are going to have to think twice before taking any steps knowing those low skill workers will add $8000 to the debt side of their ledger each.

It would have been wiser to pay down pensions debts, or let the Tax revenue come in but in fairness to Baker, with Democrat super majority in each house the best he can do is get something in a deal. In a lot of other states with Democrat governors there isn’t a need for a deal it was all in for party time.

Third: Praying for Disaster

For two years we heard Democrats publicly, even hope for a recession because they thought that the strong economy which was good news for the country, was also good news for Trump. Like this:

Bill Maher said Friday that he is “hoping” for the bottom to fall out of the economy and for the country to enter a recession so we can “get rid of Trump.” He said one way to do that is a “crashing economy.” Maher said he is “sorry” if it hurts people, but rooting for a recession is a prevention measure to losing democracy

and when they couldn’t bring it about themselves they talked it down as best they could:

Attempting to talk the country into an economic recession is perhaps the lowest the Democrats can go in order to gain power.  It illustrates that power, not the good of the country, is their ultimate goal.  It is a sickening turn of events for a political party already in the gutter.

Well the left got their Made in China recession with unemployment spiking and business’ closed via decisions advised by the best and brightest based on computer models that have proved less than accurate. Furthermore as those models have happily proved inaccurate they have kept their states closed promising (and delivering) punitive action against those who did not obey while with their left/media allies have done all they can to demonize states that have reopened or as AJ Branco put it:

So to sum up, after wasting tax revenues from Trump boom, praying for recession, finally getting it in the hopes it will Damage POTUS and doing what they can to keep it rolling in their states despite the loss of the Tax Revenue that the Trump Boom brought NOW they want POTUS to bail them out?
