The Hole in the “LGB” Argument

At PJ Media and Not the Bee there are stories concerning Gay and Lesbians being sick and tired of the Transgender movement.

Gays Against Groomers recognizes the dangers of sexualizing and indoctrinating children in the name of the LGBTQ movement. “The activists, backed by school boards, government, woke media, and corporations, have been speaking on our behalf for too long,” they say. “When fighting for equality, our goal was to successfully integrate ourselves into society, but now these radicals aim to restructure it entirely in order to accommodate a fringe minority, as well as seek to indoctrinate children into their ideology.”

The degree of irony in this paragraph is rather overwhelming to me. I also found this tweet interesting:

It suggests that all the “good will” is being pissed away by the “T’s”. After all the MSM might be able to kill stories like this one: and this one, and this one, and this one and as Stacy McCain notes the press has been very interested in keeping even basic facts out of the news

What I am interested in is balance in journalism, because the liberal media have assumed such a completely unbalanced attitude toward what is nowadays called “the LGBTQ community.” This see-no-evil mentality (e.g., ignoring or downplaying the role of gay orgies in spreading monkeypox) is an example of how identity politics warps American journalism, so that reporters and editors act as volunteer P.R. agents who see their task as guarding the “community” against homophobia. Because the reality of reckless promiscuity among gay men doesn’t advance the 100% positive image of the “community” which liberal journalists are committed to promoting, therefore one cannot expect to find relevant facts because reporters do not even ask the relevant questions: “Just how common is the behavior that led to this monkeypox outbreak?

But it becomes impossible to kill stories of parents all over the nation having to fight schoolboards to keep their kids safe from the Transgender ideology that the Democrats are pushing everywhere. This has not boded well for the Gay community’s image.

Now in fairness there are been some gay & lesbians who right from the start have been screaming bloody murder about this stuff (most notably my friend Cynthia Yockey who has had, shall we say a very unpleasant time for her trouble in sounding the warmings) but I want to make a logical point that everyone here seems to be ignoring.

Let’s forget that our newfound “allies” who spent a decade or more calling us bigots, are correct in all they are saying about the transgender insanity and note that their argument is vulnerable to one simple question that if I was a transgender activist, I would demand they answer before I even considered their case:

How can it be perfectly legitimate to not only change the definition of "marriage" which had been clearly understood for thousands of years in just about every culture on earth but to dub those who did and do not going along with this change "bigots" because you demand it but not legitimate when WE demand the right to redefine "man" and "woman" whose definition had also been clearly understood for thousands of years in just about every culture on earth and dub those who do not go along with it as bigots?

Now for me a person who has and still opposes gay marriage the answer is rather easy: Neither the changing of the definition of “marriage” nor the changing of the definition of “man” or “woman” are legitimate and the bigots here are those insisting on said changes who are copying their forebears who pushed the miscegenation laws 400 years in order to redefine marriage to suit their desired cultural ends.

But for the LGB community it’s a question that can’t be legitimately answered because once you establish that you can redefine words and institutions for the sake of a desired social gain and have no trouble using the full power of the courts to impose such change as the LGB folk did, you have no business complaining if the “T” folks use those same tactics.

This fight is worth having, and if the LGB community wants to join in fine, but you’ll forgive me when I say, I’ll take their outrage over redefining “man” and “woman” seriously when they concede that their redefinition of “marriage” which was the cry that starting this avalanche that is burying our culture was wrong, and not before.
