Thus the word of the LORD came to me: Son of man, I have appointed you a watchman for the house of Israel. When you hear a word from my mouth, you shall warn them for me. If I say to the wicked man, You shall surely die; and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his wicked conduct so that he may live: that wicked man shall die for his sin, but I will hold you responsible for his death. If, on the other hand, you have warned the wicked man, yet he has not turned away from his evil nor from his wicked conduct, then he shall die for his sin, but you shall save your life.

Ezekiel 3:17-19

One the most important pf all the virtues is courage, without courage no other virtue can exist. Courage manifests itself in many ways but one of the least appreciated but most important is to see things as they are and be willing to say aloud the truth, even if it’s a painful truth that you wish wasn’t so.

Well it’s time to speak a painful truth to supporters of President Donald Trump.

Let me start by stipulating the following

  • Donald Trump is one of the best presidents we have ever had. By the ranking I made the day Biden came in Trump is in the top four presidents who have ever held the office. Since that day revelations on Fauci & COVID bring his rating down but the revelations of the degree that he was was undermined from within make his accomplishments even more impressive so at of now it’s a wash.
  • I have made it clear for a while that I believe election 2020 was stolen. To me this is confirmed by
    • The stops of the counts in several states
    • The efforts to hinder and/or stop examination of ballots and counts in question
    • The actions to censor those who said it was stolen so
  • The persecution of both Donald Trump and those who support him by this administration and by this justice department and FBI is both a national and an international disgrace.

Let me also stipulate that when it comes to the candidates I see Trump and DeSantis the way I would look at Ted Williams and Stan Musial in picking a starting left fielder for a team:

One can see this, acknowledge this and even assert, as I do, that the 2020 election was literally stolen from him, and still decide that DeSantis is the better choice in 2024. That’ doesn’t mean that Trump is a bad choice it just means that you think DeSantis is a better one.at this time.

On the other hand if you look at the data, again from the economic numbers to the accomplishments and conclude that Ron DeSantis is not only the most effective and successful GOP governor currently in office but that he is likely the best GOP governor that we’ve seen in the 21st century and I don’t think it’s close.

One can see this, acknowledge this and even assert that he would make an excellent president and still decide that Donald Trump is the better choice for 2024. That doesn’t mean DeSantis is a bad choice, it just means you think Trump is a better one at this time.

Finally I’ve asserted that the only thing that matters in 2024 is winning and that must take priority over all else.

My purpose is to defeat the Democrat agenda by electing a republican to the white house in 2024 and it is not to re-elect and avenge or defeat and humiliate President Donald J Trump.

  • If I can defeat the Democrat Agenda by embracing and nominating Donald Trump as the GOP candidate in 2024 I will do it.
  • If I can defeat the Democrat Agenda by rejecting Donald Trump and nominating someone as the GOP candidate else I will do it.
  • and if I can defeat the Democrat Agenda by having a long primary with a drag out fight between Trump and DeSantis or another candidate and then standing by the winner who survives the test for the nomination whoever he or she is I will do that too.

That is how this election should be looked at by any person who wants the Democrats stopped, any conservative who decides to sit out the election if Trump is the nominee or decides to sit out the election if Trump is NOT the nominee is going to end up with the Democrat agenda that they rightly deserve and will have the added pleasure of knowing that they inflicted it upon themselves.

You have been warned.

With all those things stipulated the time has come for me to endorse Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida both for the GOP nomination and for President of the United States

I have been leaning toward Ron DeSantis for a while, his record of acomplishments in Florida doesn’t need to be reiterated but for the record:

  • He was one of the first governors to push back at the foolish COVID rules
  • He has fought the good fight on school reform and education reform
  • He has fought back on the culture wars protecting children
  • He has fought back against Woke corporations like Disney one of the most influential donors in the state when everyone (including Trump) advised against it AND WON!
  • He has fought back on illegal immigration and exposed the left’s false compassion with things like the plane to Martha’s Vineyard and the various Bus Trips.
  • He has fought back against every media narrative that has been used against him.
  • He has refused to be intimidated by anyone
  • Despite incredible pushback he pushed forward voting reforms that made many of the tactics that the left has used to steal elections, tactics that were once common in parts of Florida, practically obsolete.
  • And just this week he replaced a Soros DA who refused to enforce the law

All of these are positive reasons to endorse him but I’ve held back because I’ve wanted to see how he handles himself on the national stage both in dealing with the incessant attacks from the Trump camp and from the MSM. The national stage is different than a state stage and until I was sure he could stand up under attacks at least as well as Trump I thought I should hold off making a final decision between him and Trump, but something happened last Tuesday , something that reminded me of what I saw at the rise of Scott Brown. Something that Trump supporters won’t like, but need to acknowledge as an unpleasant reality.

I headed off to my mechanic last week to schedule a day for my 1999 Buick LeSabre. He is a one man operation who has been in place for decades with a large and loyal blue collar clientele. He talks to everyone and everyone talks to him.

While I was there the subject of the economy came up. We both bemoaned how things were [In fact while I was tying this paragraph I got a call that a fellow I was giving a lift to work was just laid off.] His other customers say the same. Then he dropped what was a bombshell to me.

We talked about the upcoming election and he told me in no uncertain terms that many of the blue collar voters who frequent the place, voters who had voted for Trump before have told him in no uncertain terms that they were sick of him and would not vote for him, PERIOD. These were folks who didn’t like Biden and commiserated with him at the state of the country under him but still said if Trump was the nominee he doesn’t get their vote. He argued with these folks, bluntly asking: “You mean you’d rather the country go to hell than vote for Trump?” To a man their answer was “Yes”

Again, these were blue collar people, the type of people who elected Scott Brown in 2010, people who supported Trump in the past, people who hated Biden and what he had done to the country but decided they hated Trump or perhaps the circus that comes with him even more.

We talked about how this was crazy, how this was self destructive and that they were screwing themselves but in the end our arguments meant nothing because for these people feelings and emotion trumps reality.

And that when it hit me, if a percentage of the blue collar folks we need to win are saying that in this small auto repair shop I suspect it is being said (or left unsaid) all over the nation.

And thus I return to the bottom line for 2024.

The goal is to win, without the votes of people like this in states that aren’t already deep red we don’t win.

Yeah it’s unfair how Trump has been treated, yes it’s unfair that the last election was stolen from us, yes he did a great job as president and his list of accomplishments are something to sing about, it’s unfair that we have to operate under these circumstances, and it’s unfair that we have to take irrational hatred into consideration when making a choice, but you know what, we’re conservatives and we know Life Isn’t Fair.

We don’t need to like or be liked by these irrational people, we don’t need these people to agree with us, but if we want to win we DO need these people to vote with us come election day 2024.

If they don’t we don’t win, if we don’t win then

  • Say goodbye to the Trump tax cuts that expire at the end of 2025
  • Say goodbye to the SCOTUS 6-3 rulings that have hampered the left (including Dobbs) because once a 2nd Biden admin replaces an Alito or a Thomas you can bet your bottom dollar John Roberts will start voting with the left again faster than you can say “old yellowstain”.
  • Say goodbye to any chance of the border being made secure.
  • And say goodbye to the restoration of equal justice under the law because if you think the FBI, Justice Department and various agencies are persecuting conservatives for their views now, imagine how it will be when they see there are not only no consequences for doing so but are backed up by a newly re-elected Biden Admin.

And let’s be blunt about another fact of life: Where does Donald Trump expand his vote count over 2024 with? What voter will he get this time that he didn’t get the last time around?

As I’ve already noted Ron DeSantis has more than proven himself as an excellent conservative choice, both on the social and the fiscal conservative front. Not only will he draw conservative votes but because he fought back against Fauci and Biden he can expand his base with those hurt by those decision, something that Trump who kept Fauci on the payroll and pushed the fast-tracking of the vaccines AND did so with the carrot of no liability can’t. In fact Trump history with the vaccine is something that every single GOP candidate for federal office will be hit with if he is the nominee. That’s going to cost us seats nationwide that a DeSantis nomination will not.

The single best argument against Donald Trump as the GOP nominee

Bottom line DeSantis draws votes that Trump can’t and doesn’t lose votes suffering from Trump fatigue and proved this by turning his squeaker election the first time around into a landslide, a landslide that came not despite his strong conservative record but BECAUSE OF IT. No matter how much you might dislike those voters who reject Trump this ability to expand one’s electorate is in fact a feature, not a bug but not as big of a feature as the fact that the left (and the Lincoln Project crowd) are scared to death of him.

We’re conservative we deal with facts. These are the facts, and these facts need to be put before GOP voters NOW before the voting begins and before all the lesser candidates dogpile on DeSantis which for most if them is the only reason they are in the race at all. There is no time to wait on this.

So for all these reasons, I Pete DaTechGuy now officially endorse Ron DeSantis for the GOP nomination and throw this blog behind his campaign and if you want us to win in 2024 I urge you to join me in doing so. This puts me on the opposite side of people I like, such as Don Surber who literally wrote the books on Trump and sites like Citizen Free Press who are invaluable conservative reads.

I suspect this will lose the blog more than a few fans and will generate cries of “RINO!” which is ironic given I’m the guy who in 2016 re-endorsed Trump right after the Billy Bush take came out when everyone and I mean everyone was running for the hills. It might even cost us a bit from the already depleted Tip Jar but this is no time to worry about that, I want us to win and the reality is what it is and the time to say this is NOW when it can make a difference and at a time when people are pushing the “campaign trouble” narrative it a case that needs making and if this advice isn’t taken then at least i’ll know that if the worst does come it will not be because I was silent.

You have been warned.

Closing thought: I’m convinced that if we nominate Donald Trump we will lose but if my advice is ignored and he wins the votes to be the nominee I will support him in the general election and make the best possible arguments for Trump (there is no lack of good arguments for his re-election) to convince those Blue collar folks to abandon their irrational hatred and vote for him, even though I think said effort is doomed to failure. After all with God all things are possible.

Important note: This is my own endorsement, I have not consulted any of my writers on this and it’s very possible that one or more or even all of them will disagree with me. They are welcome to do so and if they want to make the case that I am wrong here at the blog, they are welcome to do so as well.

Update: It’s been a while since my last Instalance. Thanks Glenn. Yup we’re still here after 15 years lost domain and banned youtube account not withstanding. Take a peek and see that the writers and I are still at it. You can find my old Youtube stuff at Rumble here and if you still like what you see after all these years please consider hitting DaTipJar as the Biden economy has not been so good to the blog and my employer is cutting hours.

Update 2: I was looking at the comments at Instapundit and it seems a lot of people there are taking my endorsement of DeSantis about as well as YouTube took me saying election 2020 was stolen.

Update 3: Two things:

  1. in update 2 I meant to say “election 2020, not 2022 fixed
  2. I work Sundays from 3:30 to midnight and have no net access I also moderate all comments so if you post a comment after 2:30 PM EST I won’t even see it till about 1 AM.

What is the plan to prevent vote fraud?

I don’t believe I’ve heard a single candidate articulate that they even had one. Without it, you’re doa, regardless of who you bring.

  2. JR Ewing says:

This is exactly where I land on it. I personally don’t like Trump, but I don’t think he’s terrible – I certainly don’t think he’s any worse than the rest of the cretins already in DC, both democrat and republican – and I’ll vote for him if I have to… but I don’t think he can win the general.

    The End.

  3. Illest Rater says:

Fuck you, moron, he’s our boy. #Trump2024

You want negative attention? You’ll GET negative attention.

  5. Illest Rater says:

Conservatives are the biggest pussies on the planet. A pack of retards who’d rather lose by the rules than win under ANY circumstances. Faggot.

  6. Illest Rater says:

Ron Desantis sucks jew dick. What kind of dick do YOU suck? Retard.

  7. Illest Rater says:

Faggot for Desantis, I see. Your advice is gay as fuck. Also, fuck your God.

  8. Kyle says:

Donald Trump and his supporters will never forget nor forgive this back stabbing. War

  9. Andrew P says:

Basically, we are screwed because DeSantis can’t win a national election. When he signed that 6 week abortion ban, he stepped on a landmine from which there is no recovery possible. There is no way he can win PA, WI, MI, VA, or AZ. Every election conducted since Dobbs proves this. Suburban women are now single issue voters on Abortion, and there is no way they will vote for DeSantis regardless of all other issues combined.

  10. Illest Rater says:

It’s certainly more important than endorsing someone who flew aaaaaalllll the way to ISRAEL to sign an anti 1st-amendment law affecting Americans into effect. That’s your boy Desantis. He flies to a foreign country to sign an anti-free-speech, probably UNconstitutional law into effect and THEN decides to run for POTUS. He’s as stupid as you are.

Look up “HB 269” sometime, dicktard. Educate yourself.

  11. David Kane says:

As an ONLYTrump voter in 2024 I can only point out: cast aside the greatest POTUS since Reagan and it’s ON YOU what happens next.
It’s already been pointed-out, in numerous venues, that MANY Trump voters (30% = 20 million voters) will simply not vote for anybody else. They’ll either write-in Trump, should his name not be on the ballot, or sit on their hands.
    I’m one of them.

  12. Lawrence Duffield says:

Looking forward to 2028 and beyond, if we don’t reverse the 2020 steal by electing President Trump to a second term, every election will be marred by the same tactics and MSM, government and corporate collusion. You’re correct that the solution is electoral integrity and cultural push back. But, at the end of the day, Ron is a politician, a very good one, but nothing more. That’s not good enough to turn us around.

  13. archie says:

Go to http://theconservativetreehouse.com and read up on DeSantis. Good luck!

  14. Phil Turmel says:

I’ve been thinking similar thoughts recently, and for similar reasons. I guess it is time to put a DeSantis sign in my yard.

    And screw the troll(s).

  15. sageks says:

Completely agree. DeSantis 2024. He is much more likely to win, and shows every indication that he will be much more effective than Trump in office. This is a no-brained to me, and Trump’s refusal to leave the stage is absurd at this point given such a strong alternative.

  16. sageks says:

Also, to the guy citing conservative treehouse’s utterly inane insanity about DeSantis, I can only say that every single thing in DeSantis’s record demonstrates beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is a very strong, very effective conservative who isn’t owned by anybody.

  17. deepelem blues says:

Ron can’t get above 15% vs Trump and does worse vs Biden than Trump. He’s a wet paper bag. No one cares what he did in Florida, sorry. No one cares what he did with the coof, sorry. This election is about the creeping authoritarianism of the corporatist federal government in all facets of life under the Democratic Party. That is what Republican voters care about. Ron isn’t offering a clear message of vociferous opposition there. The leading opposition candidate is getting tossed into kangaroo courts, and Ron hems and haws about it. When he tries to communicate his accomplishments fighting racist and political indoctrination and censorship he sounds like a conventional politician and it doesn’t connect as effectively as it would if he didn’t sound like a messaging consultant was controlling his mouth. That’s why he’s fucked.

  18. Alex DeWynter says:

I like Trump. I voted for him twice and if he’s the nominee I’ll vote for him again. I would love to cram a 2nd term down the throats of the leftista brownshirts as he makes all the right heads explode. The problem is he makes a lot of the wrong ones go off, too. DeSantis can do everything Trump can (if not more) without spending far too much of his time stepping on his own dick like Trump does.

  19. ObiJohn says:

A wise man once asked me “Would you rather be right, or be effective?” That is what the 2024 GOP primary, and the election is coming down to. I agree, Trump got screwed, and is still getting screwed. I voted for him twice, and I do think the 2020 election was stolen, by manipulating election rules using COVID as an excuse so that massive #s of ballots could be mailed out, collected by ballot harvesters, and filled out. Zack’s efforts to tilt the election by having his org vet all initially-rejected ballots to get the Dem ballots corrected but keep the GOP ballots in the trash also had an effect. But… I want to defeat the Democrats in 2024 and that means I will vote for ANY GOP who wins the nomination. Those of you who will not vote for a GOP candidate in the 2024 election if Trump is not the nominee are the problem. You are screwing the country.

I’m a WA resident, but came down to FL on my own dime to volunteer with the FL GOP to help GOTV. I could not believe the #s of GOP voters who swore they wouldn’t vote for McCain… wouldn’t vote in the general election at all… because they were pissed at W. That is why Obama won FL and unleashed the current Progressive/woke catastrophe on the country… because stupid cut-off-one’s-nose-to-spite-one’s-face stay-at-home GOP voters let Obama win. If you plan on doing the same in 2024, if it’s Trump or nothing for you, then you are the same type of idiots who got us to where we are today, and you will ruin the country because of your idiocy by letting the Democrats win. A country takes a LOT of ruin, and after 12 years of an Obama/Biden presidency and the Progressives in charge destroying the courts, the federal government’s law enforcement agencies, and the military, we’re about at the end of our rope. The country will be permanently changed if Biden wins a second term, Trump WILL be imprisoned, the Supreme Court will be changed for a generation, and the hard-won victories we got will be overturned.

Folks, we live in a country where only the two candidates from the major parties have any chance of winning the presidency. And, unfortunately, Trump is the GOP analog to Hillary Clinton. He’s a polarizing figure; voters either love him or hate him and the haters will simply not vote for him. We can’t win enough independents if Trump is the candidate… I don’t like that but it’s the truth. As I said, I will vote for Trump for a third time if he’s the nominee, but I don’t expect he’ll win. I hope I’m wrong, but I know too many Biden voters who are dismayed by him and will consider voting GOP, but NEVER for Trump. We need their votes if we’re going to defeat the Progressive Democrats and save the country.

If you care about this country, if you don’t want to see Trump falsely imprisoned, if you don’t want to see America destroyed, you must hold your nose and vote against the Democrats by voting for the GOP nominee regardless of who that is. If you lean right but don’t vote, you are supporting the left. If you lean right but vote for a third party conservative candidate, you are supporting the left. Haven’t you learned ANYTHING from 1992, or 1996, or 2008, or 2012? Not voting for the GOP candidate, even if it’s just not voting, IS a vote for the Democrats. And you ‘purist’ Trump-or-nothing idiots will be the folks responsible for a Democrat victory, because you let them win when you could have helped to stop it.

You need to grow up. You need to realize that America is greater than any one man, and realize that perhaps Trump’s true purpose was to expose the rigged system and the evil of the Democrats… and that maybe, like Moses, he could start and then lead the movement to take us to the Promised Land but not make it there with us. DeSantis has spoken about pardoning Trump to end the illegal law fare against him, to stop the abuse by the DOJ by removing the senior leadership and appointing a Constitutionalist as the AG, and that may be the best outcome for Trump and the country. Don’t be so pure that you screw the man you support… without a GOP victory Trump is almost certain to be legally crucified. Help us stop it. Vote GOP, not just Trump. His freedom, and your country, depend on it.

  20. David Kane says:

Think/believe what you will. Trump EARNED my vote, and he gets it. As I said, cast aside Trump and it’s ON YOU (Biden), not me. I pray you can afford it…

  21. Guest says:

There is no case whatsoever, in any way, shape, or form, for DeSantis. His polling in the party is terrible. His support is declining–heading toward single digits. His rallies have all the enthusiasm of a Jeb! rally. His only chance of winning the nomination is to cooperate with the RNC in rigging the primaries to exclude Trump, in which case he will lose in a landslide as millions of Trump voters stay home, as they well should. It will be a bloodbath. There will be no need for the Democrats to rig the election in the swing states.

I saw a poll last week indicating that nearly 50% of Republican voters will not vote for Trump if he’s convicted of a felony. Trump will certainly be convicted (unfairly) of at least one felony, so if the polling is accurate then Trump will likely lose too. But, critically, the Democrats will definitely rig the election again if Trump is the candidate. Two stolen elections in a row will do more to force the Republican party to reform than anything else that can be offered right now.

RealClearPolitics polling average today has Trump at 54.2%, DeSantis at 15.1%. With numbers like these the only choice for the Republican nomination is Trump. It’s political suicide to nominate anyone else.

  22. David Kane says:

One other thing: WHY would I cast another vote for the donor-class GOPe candidate, in this cycle DeSantis, after Romney, McCain, Bush, Dole, Bush. I’d need my head examined!
Die, Uni-Party, DIE. Also, DeSantis or nobody else cannot win without MAGA voters, and over 30% are just like me, ONLYTrump (that’s 20 million votes). Good luck, you’ll need it.

  23. annademo01 says:

Trump lost many Independent and moderate female Republican voters in 2020. And Biden won because of mass mail-in voting, allowing the Stoner and Slacker Democrats to vote without getting off their futons. Trump has no path to 270 Electoral College votes. DeSantis can win back the voters that Trump lost and that may make the difference in the swing states. For example, Trump insulted the McCain legend and he will never win AZ in 2024. DeSantis, with his military background, can win back AZ. In GA, there is no bad blood between DeSantis and the GA GOP leadership. There is bad blood between Trump and the GA leadership. DeSantis can win GA. DeSantis is basically all the good Trump policies, none of the bad Trump policies and none of the drama (or mean tweets).

  24. David Kane says:

No, I simply will NOT support another donor-class GOPe candidate (this time, DeSantis because the donor-class, WHICH is who YOU SUPPORT, hates Trump). My vote goes to the guy who earned it and PISSED OFF the Uni-Party and its donor-class. If that means Biden (or whomever) wins, then so be it. Luckily I’ll be fine for another 10+ years of ‘Rat rule in The Swamp that guys like you didn’t want to drain. So, ENJOY!
P.S.: I suggest you take a good hard look at Trump supporters. They simply will not “go along” (…or enough of them to make anybody but Trump a certain loser). Hey, it’s pretty easy to SEE if you care to look…

  25. MountainB says:

There are a number of flaws in this argument. First is the premise that, based on one guy’s anecdotal comment, Trump can’t win in a fair election. Many if not most Republicans believe he won in 2020, maybe by a landslide. If that is correct, my guess is that, given the insanity of the thugs running the present regime, Trump wins easily … in a fair 2024 contest.

Second, the contest won’t be fair. It’s weird to read someone who begins by asserting the 2020 steal happened and then says we need to find someone besides Trump to appeal to more voters. Without drastic fixes to election integrity, no Republican wins. Period.

Third, DeSantis is the tool of the Republican donor class. The people in our movement that I talk to don’t take him seriously for this reason. Our donor class is globalist-first and is as much a part of the problem as the commies running the Democrat party. DeSantis is a Lucy-with-football psyop. He is now and will continue to be beholden to these people And, no, he has not come anywhere close to where he needs to be in terms of talking about the existential threats facing our country. Also, as a relevant aside, he talks a lot but when you look over your list of all the things he’s “fought back” on, on which has he actually accomplished any significant outcomes? There have been a couple, but my point is that fighting back isn’t the same as winning and he doesn’t actually have a lot of wins.

Last, and most importantly, the goose-stepping left and their Rhino fellow-travelers have made a mockery of our constitution and legal institutions to get Trump out of the race. If we give in to this, our country is finished, I don’t care who you put in office. The only answer is to come together as a party and support Trump with everything we have and in every way we can. I am not sanguine about the success of that or what happens after he loses, but the time to draw a line in the sand is now. We will not be cheated or bullied out of our rightful choice of who is going to govern us. And if we are, devil take the hindmost.

  26. David Kane says:

Dear datechguy, I ‘ve never heard of you previously. Now I see that you DELETE posts and comments that you don’t like/disagree with/have no response to. THIS post will probably not see the light of day either.
Adios, Lard Ass (ht – “Up in Smoke”)

  27. Guest says:

No. The difference between us is that you are willing to allow the RNC to eliminate Trump from the candidate pool, overriding the clear choice of the party’s constituents. Trump has a full majority of support in the party, and his support is growing. DeSantis is at 15% and falling. Any political party that actively subverts the majority of its constituents does not deserve their support. Reform has to start with the Republican party, and that means holding the feet of the “leadership” to the fire.

DeSantis is effective in Florida because Republicans hold a 28-12 majority in the Florida Senate and an 83-35 majority in the Florida House. Literally, a trained monkey could be highly effective as a Republican Governor in Florida. He will have no such luxury in Washington. He had no significant accomplishments during his time in the House of Representatives. He nearly lost his first race for governor to a drug-addled homosexual Marxist. DeSantis is not the right man for the job in 2024.

To me, this moment is nearly a replay of the Romney-Obama election, but the roles are reversed. I told every Republican I knew that Obama the Populist would destroy Romney the Patrician, and he did. For good reason, America is in a populist moment. If you want confirmation of this, watch the video of the song Rich Men North of Richmond that is at number 1 on iTunes. Trump won in 2016, against all odds. He won in 2020, but the election was stolen though massive vote fraud Phoenix, Vegas, Detroit, Milwaukee, Philly, and Atlanta. If Republican voters don’t shoot themselves in the foot, Trump will win again in 2024. Of course, the election will likely be stolen again in the same jurisdictions.

  28. Deserttrek says:

The DeSantis fund raisers are establishment goons.
Without a method of insuring a se I honest election, won’t matter who runs

  29. Ned Winner says:

I totally agree with you. For the reasons you cited, Dems and the media will work relentlessly to make Trump the nominee.

  30. Chip Jones says:

    Good work, Pete!

  31. Frank says:

I find both your commentary and those of many of your commentators (except for the foul-mouthed, unhinged lunatic, who may or may not be a plant) very well-reasoned. I am withholding judgement on DeSantis because I have not seen him in action against big competition. YMMV but I remember the hype about Nikki Haley and Kristi Noem. DeSantis’ accomplishments seem to be undeniable however. McCain and Romney were both sure losers and I voted for them, as I will for either Trump or DeSantis.

All well and good, but I believe there are several things left out of your analysis.

First, why do blue collar voters hate Trump? Maybe because of COVID, but I think mostly because they only hear from the major media with their constantly invented lies. Many start to believe it because of the repetition. Does anyone thing DeSantis would not be subjected to the same lies, abuse, and made-up intelligence reports were he to become the nominee? How would he fare with these same low-information voters then?

Second, given what we know about Trump and his personality, why would you not think he would create a third party (or run as a Libertarian) should he not get the nomination? That would create the worst of all possible worlds where we have another Teddy Roosevelt and his Bull Moose Party that led to our first truly evil president. The ever-Trumpers would vote for him, and we’d lose to whatever figurehead the machinery of evil decides to shove in front of the voters. Look what they did to Giuliani. Look what they did to Gingrich. Both of them highly effective, non-naive politicians with a solid base among those who knew them best.

Also as several of your commenters have noted, where is the plan to prevent them from stealing the election, once they’ve already done it so brazenly? Is Zuckerberg broke? Soros? Gates? Vote harvesting works best among apathetic voters. Do you really think Trump or any other Republican nominee has the total disregard for ethics to simply go into poor neighborhoods and just say, give me your ballot? The Red States may have cleaned up the issue somewhat, but not the Purple States, and certainly not the Blue States. We something much more massive and effective than the well-intentioned but weak True-the-Vote folks. The Democrats can organize a riot anytime they please by spreading money to the villainous. We need the equivalent of a torch-wielding mob outside every vote-counting center as well as solid believers inside. How can ethical candidates combat those willing to lie cheat and steal? I remember how we ended up with Al Franken in the senate. His folks challenged every vote for his opponent, and insisted on every vote, even clearly fraudulent ones for Franken to be counted while the Republican nominee’s people allowed every somehow questionable vote for their candidate to be thrown out.

Trump is bombastic, given to exaggeration, and naive about the evil of the bureaucrats who are sure they run things (his worst trait, cough, cough, Fauci). Many of our presidents have been bombastic and given to exaggeration. JFK was a great speaker, widely admired, and totally ineffective as President. LBJ was a thuggish ass, and got everything done that Kennedy wanted. Trump is a proven problem-solver, almost miracle-worker, and, if he could convince me, he’s remedied his political naivety with the same initiative that gave us our almost completed border wall, I’d campaign non-stop for him.

If we discard Trump, the next guy will be Trump in short order, in terms of “hatred” and such BS. If the method works, they will repeat it.

In give you Roy Moore. Make up OBVIOUS BS claims from literally decades ago and keep him from being elected? I said at the time that it would come back to bite us… almost immediately after that, we got the Kavanaugh show. Oh, and the woman who New York passed a very specific law for so she could sue Trump for something that obviously didn’t actually happened decades ago, too.

The METHOD needs to fail, or we will get more of it. Think Desantis won’t get the Trump treatment? Giggles.

I’ve talked to a woman who is part of the Trump or nobody tribe. I feel that they are cutting off their nose to spite their face. If Trump becomes the nominee we should all support Trump. If DeSantis or somebody else becomes the nominee, we should all support them. It’s that simple. Of course, if we don’t start efforts to prevent Democratic election fraud in the next election, it may be moot.

Oh, and it seems DeSanitarynapkin is NO LONGER suing Disney. I guess he’s softened on NOT providing a special tax district to an outfit that produces entertainment to groom kids…

Enjoy your also-ran, you actual fucking moron. Expect to see more posts like this every time your boy sticks his foot in it – and he will.

Desantis: (weakly) “Aww, c’mon, guys, I’m not suing you any more; I just did that to trick the rubes into supporting me. We’re friends now, right?”

Again I say: enjoy your also-ran. He’s in what, THIRD place now? 🤣 Behind someone who got MAYBE a tenth of Desantis’s press over the last 6 months?
