Five Libs of Tik Tok Thoughts Under the Fedora

it’s generally a bad idea for a Newspaper to be caught in a straight out lie but the Washington Post managed to do so here:

On the plus side being owned by a billionaire means you can likely pay out any lawsuit something like that produces.

Again looking on the bright side of this for the Post from this story, a newspaper wants to make people think they are relevant and the post has certainly demonstrated that they can make a story or a subject visible.

The number of followers of the twitter account Libs of TikTok has as of this morning increased by more than 25% and counting and the videos made by the various liberals she is highlighting are getting a lot more views. None of this would have been possible without the efforts of the Washington Post so I guess this proves the relevance of the MSM to some degree still exists.

Another interesting point if the post wants to focus on the bright side of life is this. For the last week we have seen the Post and other liberal sites insist that the purchase of Twitter by Billionaire Elon Musk is a dangerous thing as it will promote standards that are contrary to the good of the country.

The Post story on the Libs of TikTok account and the attempt to intimidate and put in danger the Orthodox Jewish lady who runs it is a perfect demonstration of the dangers they are trying to illustrate: Don’t let Twitter get bought by a billionaire or they’ll become assholes without standards, just like us.

Not the method I’d use to make the point but hey it’s his paper.

What really struck me about the whole thing is that what the Libs of TikTok basically did was tweet out videos that leftists had willingly and deliberately put out on a public social media forum and exposed it to a larger audience.

Nothing get the left more upset than people seeing them as they are, and apparently as they are is pretty nasty. Remember this is why Stacy McCain was banned from twitter years ago for the crime of directly quoting liberals and letting people who might not have seen what they’ve said see it.

It’s all: Look at me, look at me and then: How dare you look at me!

Of course the funniest thing are the cries that this is an attack on the LGBTQ community and the implication that this is reinforcing negative stereotypes.

Shouldn’t they be angry at the people in the videos who made the videos and put them up on the net to be seen? Aren’t they by showing themselves as they are the culprits here?

What’s really making them angry is how it removes the plausible deniability from the various school districts, school boards and leftist pols who can’t pretend that these people in the videos are not the groomers people say they are.

Even better will be the number of people who pick up this standard

…is Taylor Lorentz claiming to have PTSD from being a Washington Post Journalist during a visit to MSNBC:

I mean yeah, police, firemen, soldiers, nurses and the people of Ukraine might have to deal with death, destruction and life and death on a daily basis, but that’s NOTHING compared to the nasty feedback she gets from doing things like Doxing the “libs of tic tock” account person who has the audacity to take videos that people deliberately put on a public worldwide forum and post them on a public worldwide forum.

I mean can you imagine how the children of such a woman would be prepared for life? Can you imagine them being able to cope with anything with such a person as their primary role model?

Granted abortion is murder and Birth Control is a sin and every person is made in the image of God (including Ms Lorenz) and with God all things are possible but if I was the left and wanted to try to persuade people that Abortion should be an option I’d put her on the posters saying: “Do you really want people like this raising children?”

All kidding aside Ms. Lorenz reminds me of something else.

Could you imagine the reaction if a male reporter claimed PTSD over online feedback?

Our “betters” keep telling us that women are men are equal yet we keep hearing stories about how hard women have it or their inability to cope.

So which is it elites? Are woman just as strong, tough and competent as men or are in need of special protection? Choose one.

(In fairness to our elites as they can’t define “woman” or “man” this question might be too much for them.

Answer: If you’re a mass shooter in North Carolina you can make bail:

The man accused of opening fire during a mass shooting at the Columbiana Centre mall in Columbia has posted bail after a hearing Sunday afternoon, WLTX-TV reported.

A South Carolina judge announced that Jewayne M. Price, 22, would be granted a surety bond of $25,000 and be required to wear an ankle monitor, the television station reported. He must also have no contact with anyone involved in the incident and must stay away from the shopping mall, according to WLTX.

Hey at least law enforcement is taking an interest unlike the Antifa rioters who they have no interest in prosecuting in the Northwest.

I predict that it won’t even take a week for him to be forgotten like Frank James. Doesn’t serve the narrative.

Five Sports Thoughts Under the Fedora

Is it just me or has the left side of the Boston Red Sox infield suddenly learned how to field their positions? Xander Bogarts (SS) and Raphael Devers (3b) are great and feared hitter but not known for their glove work but over the first couple of weeks their level of defensive play has risen considerably.

Part of it might be Trevor Story now at second, part might be rather young Devers finally maturing as a player but a lot of it also might be the opt out clause that Bogarts has and the extension that Devers is seeking.

Either way it’s something to see.

Yesterday the Boston Celtics beat the Brooklyn Nets 115 to 114 in an exciting game where after a Three Pointer gave the next a 3 pt lead with under a minute to go, the C’s drove down, scored to make it a one point game, managed a defensive stand and without calling a time out rushed back down the court were after a series of great passes the winning basket was laid in with no time left on the clock.

To me the big story was the decision to drive down the court, rather than take a time out to get a set play. Ninety nine times out of 100 with a time out remaining a team uses a time out in that situation inbounds on a set play and goes from there. The decision to not call the time out was a gutsy one but demonstrates the value of not letting an opponent prepare a set defense or get a heads up from their coach to watch for a particular thing.

Of course if they didn’t get the winner shot the only story today would be “Why didn’t they call that time out?”

Oh speaking of the Celtics game two more things concerning the narrative. There was a huge debate in the local sports talk radio about their winning their last game forcing them to meet the Nets vs losing it and facing a weaker opponent. The game bolstered both sides of the argument.

You can make the case that this was one of the most competitive games of the first round and they would have been better off with a different opponent. They were one second away from a loss. On the other hand it showed the advantage of home court as a side story was Irving the former Celtic flipping off a heckling fan which generated a whole lot more talk than his spectacular game.

Give me the home court any day.

There is a ton of talk about the NFL draft around here and what the Patriots will do in it but the bigger subject here is year two of Mac Jones at QB with an offensive coaching by committee and how he is expected to do without proper coaching now that Josh McDaniels is gone. Three things:

  1. Belichick has not one but two ex head coaches on staff below him, if a former head coach can’t coach a 2nd year QB let alone two then you’ve got real trouble here.
  2. The AFC competition has significantly improved all around both in division and out. Even if McDaniels had stayed the Patriots and Jones would be hard press to repeat their record of last season
  3. This illustrates once and for all the value of Tom Brady and how much he skewed the field in the past. If you took this same lineup with the same coaching staff but put 45 year old Tom Brady at QB does anyone doubt they would be the favorite to win the AFC east? Signing Brady was the single best move this franchise ever made, letting him go was the worst.

The Hockey Season is almost over and the Bruins face their first post season without Tuukka Rask in a decade.

Rask was an excellent goaltender who played his entire career in Boston but was unable to take them over the top and he got a lot of heat for that and there was plenty of talk that he wasn’t tough enough to do so.

With two younger goaltenders on the ice this time around it will be interesting to see just how far the team goes. If they manage to go all the way in the next few years the trash talk about Rask will only get louder.

Finally some members of the Red Sox will not be heading north for their series against the Blue Jays because they are unvaccinated against COVID 19 and trucker convoys not withstanding Canada still has strict rules on the subject. There is some speculation that this is the reason why the Celtics didn’t want to face Toronto in the 1st round as well.

It seems insane to still be playing this game but Canada is their own country and if that’s what they want to do so be it. Frankly given Trudeau I wouldn’t put it past him to keep this stuff up just to give Canadian teams an additional home field advantage.
