These days I’m not so high on Joe Scarborough but he once said something that every single pol should take to heart: You have to win a majority to accomplish anything.

It’s a rule that is ignored by voters and a party at their peril.

For example in Wyoming conservatives know that if (OK when) Liz Cheney loses her primary she is going to be replaced by a strong conservative because the people of Wyoming are well versed with conservatism and reality.

In Maine not so much. It would be nice for example if we had a stronger conservatives than Susan Collins in Maine, but without her the Democrats would have the 51 votes to make a whole bunch of trouble, so until we can educate Maine voters on the realities of the left she’s likely as good as we can get.

And that brings us to Larry Hogan.

Hogan is a moderate Republican and a bit of a NeverTrumper, however he has done a credible job as Governor of the state and has done well with the black community:

Hogan would likely make strong conservatives like me go nuts and become the goto republican in the senate for the MSM but…
1. He’s likely the best we can get in Maryland
2. He would be a vote for conservative judges
Would I prefer a strong conservative? Sure. Can we elect a strong conservative in Maryland? At this point, absolutely not.

Think of it like baseball. In my 1969 Draft league my #1 & #2 batters are Mike Fiore, and Jim Hegan They are batting 61 and 73 point lower than Pete Rose but both draw a ton of walks. While it would be nice if those walks were double and triples and homers those walks enable Pete Rose to drive in runs (57 in 90 games so far) 3rd in the league despite having less than a 1/3 of the HR of the men ahead of him.

Larry Hogan in the senate will not hit a lot of conservative home runs but he will set the table allowing other to drive in runs and while he does that we can act to educate the people of Maryland so that the day will come when we can in fact do better.

The only people shocked by this are those who get their info from the MSM

Picture if you will an election that wasn’t stolen in 2020. Picture Donald Trump about to begin a 2nd term in 2021 with the rollout of the vaccine.

Imagine what would be happening.

Suddenly every sudden heart attack , every case of Myocarditis, particularly among athletes, would be front page news. People in media, politics and Hollywood and academic would be lining up to decry the vaccine and proudly declare that they would not be taking it led by Kamila Harris and the VARES web site and chart would be as ubiquitous as the various rainbow flags on leftist campus.

And of course all the tech giants would be lionizing those who questioned the vaccine and the side effects.

Does anyone actually believe that it would be any other way?

Doctor Who the Macra Terror 1967

There are two things I do regularly while I work:

I pray my rosaries and divine mercy chaplets

I listen to Doctor Who audios

In terms of the Rosary it’s the same on a daily basis. I pray 3 20 decade rosaries for specific intentions for each decade and for variable intentions for two of the three Rosaries. (If you’ve ever asked me to pray for something and I’ve told you I’ll do so till you tell me to stop, odds are I’m still praying for your specific intention daily).

But the Doctor Who audios are different. I listen to them in order and once I finish Capaldi I go back to the 1st Doctor and start again with the 1st Doctor. It takes about nine months to listen to them all.

Right now I’m on the 2nd doctor. The currents companions are Jamie and Victoria and the current story is The Great Space Elevator. But it was just last week that I was listening to the Macra Terror with Jamie, Polly and Ben traveling with Patrick Troughten’s 2nd Doctor.

It’s’ the story of a society that’s being lied to and manipulated by it’s leadership (which has been taken over by the Macra for their own ends). There were a lot of such stories in the 2nd-5th Doctor era at a time when the people who wrote such stores preached skepticism toward government power.

I could not help but think of our current situation as I listened to it.

So I would like to offer a challenge to people in general and to Doctor Who fans who tend to lean left in particular.

I challenge those who have either the audio of the episode, Britbox, or the animated version of said lost episode to watch it and I challenge those who have neither to read this transcript of the episode.

Then ask yourselves if those pushing the vaccines and punishing those who refuse them remind you of anyone in the episode.
