After Glenn put up his I told you so post he notes something significant:

Now why should some professor in Knoxville be able to determine what our national reporters in Washington and New York City could not?

Do we not pay these people — through the extra pennies we pay on a product for advertisements — to know these things?

I think it’s not just a question of paying attention, it’s all about what you choose to report.

The MSM hasn’t chosen to report the failure of the One Nation rally. They haven’t chosen to show the trash photos or the comparison shots of the crowd. They didn’t choose to report on the DOJ scandal or Van Jones et/al.

Yet a vast amount of Americans knew because of social media. The MSM were irrelevant because they came late to a story that was already told in e-mail boxes, tweets and facebook pages worldwide.

Goliath might not be paying attention but it could be because Goliath would rather be ignorant about a fact they don’t want to acknowledge.

One might survive in a niche market but if your business is information and analysis and you are being scooped by people in the street you’d better look for another business pronto.

Update: Along those same lines I wonder if the Torrance Daily Breeze will find this story newsworthy?

California Democrat Rep. Jane Harman’s family business is laying off American workers – including engineering employees in California — and shifting jobs overseas.

If history is the judge I wouldn’t bet on the breeze

…and the news that is being reported is that democrats are gaining momentum! Morning Joe had Politico reporting this today.

However at the Hill there is a little bug in the report:

Over the past few weeks, Democrats have made steady progress in narrowing the voters enthusiasm gap with Republicans, the White House claimed Sunday.emphasis mine

Oh so this is a White House CLAIM. Based on the president giving a speech in a state that is supposed to be blue. And we are treating it as gospel?

Politico continues to play the Democratic optimism game delegating their caveats to the last three paragraphs:

“It speaks volumes about the current political landscape that Democrats in Washington are trying to seek solace in some of the bluest states in the country,” said NRSC spokesman Brian Walsh. “But even in states like California and Washington, our Republican candidates are very much within striking distance, while our candidates in Wisconsin, Connecticut and elsewhere are surging.”

Democrats also continue to face a daunting landscape in gubernatorial races and it’s a revealing sign of the difficulty of the cycle that they’re seizing on polls showing them losing, if by smaller margins, as an indicator of success.

Indeed, part of what might ultimately help Democratic gubernatorial hopefuls is that some races are so clearly beyond repair that the DGA will be able to direct resources into those where their candidates still have a path to victory.

Boy that’s what I call a reason to cheer!

…or will they treat it like the DOJ hearing and totally ignore it?

I have to run between 7:15 & 7:45 but I’ll keep an eye on Morning Joe.

At 8:46 before the break Joe Mentioned that he has gotten tweets about not mentioning the OneNation rally and will answer it after the break. Bringing it up now.

8:50 a.m. Comes back shows a clip says on weekends he watches Soccer and Bama football not interested, pooh poohs it. Doesn’t give context or the aerial shot that shows the size of the crowds. Totally amazing!

Update: I would think this story might be of some interest:

Not only were thousands of supporters given free rides by unions and the NAACP to the rally, far left teachers at High School for Math, Science and Engineering were giving students class credits to attend.

Amazing!

Dianne Williamson makes some interesting points in this column that made my wife laugh out loud:

Despite his City Hall harem, the 17-year mayor keeps getting re-elected. Is he so popular that voters are willing to overlook the indiscretions?

Well considering Leominster has a thriving downtown, a surplus and is in financially solid shape while Fitchburg next door can’t afford to keep on its streetlights while taxes and fees rise I think that might be a clue.

I asked the wife if she would rather have had Dean J. Mazzarella as mayor for the last 20 years here, she didn’t bat an eyelash: “I’ll take the Leominster Lothario.”

Williamson’s case is a valid one but I tend to remember an awful lot of women in this state who were much more forgiving of a certain fellow in the White House a decade and a half ago and a certain senator who ruled Massachusetts for my entire life. As Stacy McCain reminds us:

the conservative who tries to turn the tables on that argument — demanding that liberals explain, for example, how Chris Dodd and Ted Kennedy could make “waitress sandwiches” and still retain the unstinting support of feminists — will again run head-on into the familiar reply: How dare you?

I don’t know Williamson’s opinion on Kennedy or Clinton but I’d be really interested to know. Exit question: How many people who are outraged in Massachusetts over the Mayor’s actions had opinions similar to Nina Burleigh concerning them Bill & Ted?
