Opening Day’s Winning Pitcher

I was going to do something about the State Farm groomer story and their sudden reverse once their internal emails became public but I figure per Don Surber waiting a day might be a good idea to see if Dell, or Capital One or General Mills decide to reverse themselves before slick ads detailing their corporation with this stuff gets the “Like a creepy neighbor” treatment.

Instead lets focus on opening day of my 1970 League which officially started yesterday. All the weeks of drafting and preparation come down to this day and my opening three game series with the New York Yankees.

With a Pennant under and a world series out of reach by two swings in the last of the 9th of the 7th game Seattle had several disadvantages going into the 1970 season:

  • Only five players protected
  • A weak rookie crop
  • and shy a fifth round draft pick (traded for Ron Fairly)

Meanwhile the Yankees not only had 10 players on their keeper list but had Multiple draft picks from excellent trades last sason.

While Seattle was able to require 2b Dick McAulffe and part time players Catcher Johnny Edwards (and OF Al Ferarra their entire pitching staff with the exception of Holtzman and Mike Torrez who were protected were drafted by other teams.

So if the Pilots were going to have any change to repeat either by a division win or sneaking in via the wild card game they would need Holtzman to carry the ball so to speak.

He did not disappoint not only pitching 9 innings of one run ball against a tough Yankee lineup but contributing with the bat with a one out single in the 5th which was followed by a double from the newly acquired catcher Jack Hiatt who while not having much of an arm has quite the batters eye/ Holtzman was running with the pitch and managed to score all the way from first for the second and decisive run off of Yankees ace Fritz Peterson who pitched well in a losing cause.

Slugging Pitcher Earl Wilson lost game 2 5-3 so the burden will be even grater on Holtzman and fellow Seattle Stater Mike Torrez as the two Pitchers retained in a staff unlikely to intimidate any of their opponents. Yet it will be up to them to keep the Pilots close enough so the bats of Ron Fairly, Pete Rose and Tommy Harper can do enough damage to keep the Pilots in the race to the end.

Cam Torrez do the job? We’ll find out in the rubber game of the Pilots Series against the Yanks later today.

Meanwhile for those of you interested here is the starting nine that the Pilots will be fielding this season by position.

Wish us luck. We’ll need it

Billions of Dollars invested in China by the NBA and it’s players clearly affects how the league responds to outrageous actions there but supposedly Billions of dollars bet on games here in the US have ABSOLUTELY NO effect on the results of games.

When placed under oath Robby Mook contradicts every single assertion that the Media has made for years concerning the Russia probe yet no media outlet seems the least bit upset and the prospect of supposedly “being taken” for years on the subject.

Supposedly the Democrat left the whole “Black Lives Matter” business was about saving lives yet according to this data homicide rates in the black community are up 50% since this entire enterprise began.

Sending 40 Billion dollars to help defend Ukraine shows support for Ukraine, but sending 40 Billion dollars to Ukraine and having an Inspector General make sure the money actually goes to defending Ukraine is shows you oppose defending Ukraine.

For the last 20 years I never heard a public service ad advising people for the signs of aneurisms, but since those totally safe vaccines that absolutely aren’t causing unexpected deaths my radio is suddenly regularly playing ads warning about the early signs of this, all sponsored by the maker of the COVID vaccine.

Cause:

Tesla Inc CEO Elon Musk said on Wednesday that while he voted for Democrats in the past, he will now vote for Republicans.

“In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party. But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican,” he tweeted.

Effect

Yesterday, Musk announced he was voting for Republicans in the next election and he’s been attacked by seemingly every leftist on Twitter since. And now Business Insider has this new scoop about an incident that happened in 2016. A SpaceX flight attendant claimed that Musk propositioned her during a massage on the airplane. She later hired an attorney and was paid $250,000 as severance.

Yeah I believe that sure I do, it’s just a coincidence that such a story comes out the day after Musk says he’s voting for the GOP.

Why would anyone believe these guys?

It is beyond common knowledge to those born before 1970 that from the very beginning of the Unites States, freedom was universally cherished.  Sadly most college students would be shocked and greatly distressed to learn that universal truth. They have been subjected to endless progressive indoctrination.

It has become quite evident over the past decade that progressives dislike freedom rather intensely, more intensely than vampires dislike crucifixes and garlic.  Progressivism is a collectivist philosophy derived through a couple of generations from the teachings of Karl Marx.

Marxists believe that the vast majority of common folk are not capable of deciding for themselves. They believe that the unwashed peasants need the unending guidance of enlightened experts to guide their every move.  Most of the brainwashed victims of progressive indoctrination believe that they will be one of the enlightened experts who will be guiding the unsophisticated masses.

They are in for a very rude awakening.  All collectivist societies descend into a totalitarian nightmare where only a small number of the most ruthless thugs get to make decisions.  The vast majority end up as impoverished slaves.

The lack of organized resistance to the Wuhan Flu lockdowns and mandates is a sure sign of just how widespread and how thorough the progressive indoctrination has been over the past few decades.  Those who called for the freedom to live their lives, free from mandates, have been met with outright hostility.  Mass counter protests have met those protesting for freedom.

It was shocking to see the liberal media’s meltdown over Elon Musk’s attempt to buy Twitter.  Check out this pathetic attack on Elon Musk by the AP.  It shows how poorly the left understands freedom of speech and how much they loath it.

The freedom to defend yourself has been under constant assault from the left.  The Second Amendment has been one of their most ceaseless targets.

Your freedom to move as you wish is now in jeopardy because the Biden regime has decreed that all cars built after 2026 must have a government controlled kill switch.

Biden recently signed into law a requirement that all vehicles produced after 2026 be fitted with a remote kill switch. Electric vehicles are already equipped with this capability via internet-connected “superchargers.” These corporations can sell you a product for tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars, then prevent you from using them.

Worse yet, if the law is not challenged or repealed, these kill switches will have a “back door” that allows government agencies to shut your vehicle off remotely as well.

The lack of resistance to this egregious threat to one of our most basic freedoms has been depressing in the extreme
