I’m slightly confused.
Were not people on the right told that if they didn’t like twitter there was nothing stopping them from making their own?
I mean if the left wants to make their own version of twitter that ruthlessly censors anyone who disagrees with them, I’m sure there are plenty of leftists with money who could begin a start-up. They could call it “Pravda”
In fact they would be in a position to poach hundreds if not thousands of current twitter employees who are in a state of grief and panic over their pending inability to censor others.
And with the Biden Administration in power it is very unlikely that any agency would make any attempt to put up legal roadblocks to do so.
So c’mon leftists show us how much people want to stand with you. I’m sure many celebs would be anxious to delete their twitter accounts and switch to demonstrate their wokeness to the world. I’m sure tens of millions can’t wait to join your alternative.

I mean if the right is capable of starting GAB and TRUTH surely you can do what they did?
I’m old enough to remember when this kind of sentiment was normal among Americans. The fact that this is extraordinary enough for me to post on is actually a rather sad thing indeed.
SHREVEPORT – In an ongoing effort to erase history, the Louisiana House has passed without objection a bill that would remove Robert E. Lee Day and Confederate Memorial Day from the calendar of state holidays:
Democratic New Orleans Rep. Matthew Willard, who is Black, said he was shocked to learn the Confederate holidays remain on the state books when it was brought to his attention by a constituent.
“I had no clue,” Willard said. “I actually didn’t believe it. I couldn’t in good conscience sit by and not try to change it.”
Williard said he is compelled to carry the bill to honor his late grandfather Elliott “Doc” Willard, a well-known New Orleans educator and Civil Rights leader who died in 2012.
Not that this will make one iota of difference to anyone. No state offices closed on these days and only groups like the United Daughters of the Confederacy and Sons of Confederate Veterans paid any attention to them, and I can guarantee you that these groups will still quietly observe these days just as they always have. The local UDC chapter and the SCV chapter get together on these days and have a small ceremony at the cemetery and clean headstones of Confederate dead.
Meanwhile, in New Orleans, the City Council has officially renamed Lee Circle. After removing the Lee monument from the circle in 2017, and two years of discussion, the space will now be called “Harmony Circle.”
Don’t you feel more politically correct now?
Since the monuments were removed across the south, I am unaware of any decline in violence or injustice. As far as I know, the Civil War is still part of our country’s history and you can still purchase Shelby Foote’s brilliant three-volume history of the war at Amazon and in bookstores.
Here in Caddo Parish, in northwest Louisiana, our huge Confederate monument has been enclosed in a giant plywood box in front of the courthouse for a couple of years now as local politicians attempt to find someone to move it without destroying it to a “less offensive” site. The monument belongs to the United Daughters of the Confederacy and therefore can not be just destroyed. After years of litigation and debate, the city is on the hook to pay for moving it and they must do so without damaging it.
Now, what better way could we spend that money around here, in a city that is short over one hundred police officers, where we have daily shootings, and our murder rate is record breaking each year? In a city where restaurants can’t open because workers don’t show up? Where potholes are large enough to plant trees and downtown is a wasteland inhabited only by the homeless?
Perhaps moving the monument will finally solve all this. You think?
Only in Florida…California Disney requires a four year degree from a liberal school!
I just came back from a family visit to Disney. Yes, yes, I’ve been watching the news about Disney’s stupid comments about Florida’s anti-grooming laws. Yes, I know some people totally went on a Disney boycott and canceled their vacations. But that’s not me. I’d been planning a Disney trip since March 2020, and now two years later I wasn’t going to tell my kids we couldn’t go.
So we drove the nearly 12 hours to Disney, stayed at a nearby Marriott and went to Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot.
Did I see any crazy wokeism.
Nope.
I was looking for it to. Sure, the guy handing us our parking pass to Epcot had a really, really nice manicure (although black really isn’t his color!), but otherwise I didn’t see anything overt. All of my kids interactions with characters were…normal. Elsa didn’t try to persuade my son he was really a girl, nor did Alice in Wonderland try to talk my daughters into kissing other girls. Heck, we even heard “Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls!” when we were at Magic Kingdom.
Even stranger was the interaction I had with a security guard. Since I was pushing the stroller with two little kids, I went in a separate line to get screened. The guard noticed the Navy command on my hat (which is not obvious, so he was paying particular attention to me) and asked if I was in the service. After I told him I was, he asked me a strange question:
“Are you a fan of the former President?”
To which I replied “In fact, I am.”
Then he knocked me to the ground with a chop across my back, handcuffed me and yelled “F%^&ing J6 insurrectionist!” right in my face!
…
Just kidding, that didn’t happen. Instead, he reached into his pocket, pulled out a coin and handed it to me.
Yup, I was not expecting that. That coin is now proudly displayed in my coin rack at home.
Now, I’m not making excuses for Disney’s actions. They’ve had a woke problem for years. It’s sad because Walt Disney himself was a pretty great American. At the parks there is a museum devoted to Walt Disney’s artistic talent, and I was surprised by the large number of war related propaganda and cartoons he drew. The man was truly American, and to have to watch lesser men take his company and its legacy and flush it down the toilet to please a bunch the alphabet people is just sad.
But perhaps there is some hope for Disney. Removing their special governance was a solid shot across the bow. Perhaps we’ll see more conservative shareholders and more conservative employees voice their displeasure, and maybe Disney will get back on track. If nothing else, there are far more fellow conservatives at Disney than I would have given it credit for.
