It is truly ironic that the Biden regime declared that individuals spreading ‘misinformation’ are domestic terrorists because Joe Biden spreads an inordinate amount of actual misinformation.  Just this past Tuesday, Biden told a rather egregious whopper about what is causing gas prices to climb alarmingly fast, to record levels.  Joe Biden told the world that gas prices are high because domestic oil production is not keeping up to demand, because oil companies are not using 9000 drilling permits that were previously issued.

This article, American Petroleum Institute: Biden ‘Misusing Facts’ When Talking About Unused Drilling Permits (legalinsurrection.com), proves this to be a mistruth.

“Just because you have a lease doesn’t mean there’s actually oil and gas in that lease, and there has to be a lot of development that occurs between the leasing and then ultimately permitting for that acreage to be productive,” he said. “I think that they’re purposefully misusing the facts here to advantage their position.”

This article, Biden’s U.S. Oil Embargo – WSJ, explains in great detail how Joe Biden’s radical policies are in fact responsible for the skyrocketing gas prices here in the United States.

On Tuesday he even blamed U.S. companies—not his policies—for not producing more. There are 9,000 available unused drilling permits, he claimed, and only 10% of onshore oil production takes place on federal land. Talk about a misdirection play.

First, companies have to obtain additional permits for rights of way to access leases and build pipelines to transport fuel. This has become harder under the Biden Administration. Second, companies must build up a sufficient inventory of permits before they can contract rigs because of the regulatory difficulties of operating on federal land.

It takes 140 days or so for the feds to approve a drilling permit versus two for the state of Texas. The Administration has halted onshore lease sales. Producers are developing leases more slowly since they don’t know when more will be available. Offshore leases were snapped up at a November auction because companies expect it might be the last one.

Different agencies under the Biden regime have worked hard at instituting policies that are responsible for the astronomically high gas prices, and will continue at their efforts, regardless how devastating they are to the American people.

Interior’s five-year leasing program for the Gulf of Mexico expires in June. Yet the Administration hasn’t promulgated a new plan. Nor did it appeal a liberal judge’s order in January revoking the November leases. But the Administration has appealed another judge’s order requiring that it hold lease sales.

Then there’s the not-small problem of financing. Companies can’t explore and drill, or build pipelines, without capital. Biden financial regulators allied with progressive investors are working to cut it off. The Labor Department has proposed a rule that would require 401(k) managers to consider the climate impact of their investment holdings.

The Securities and Exchange Commission is expected to issue a rule requiring companies and their financiers to disclose greenhouse gas emissions. Mr. Biden has nominated Sarah Bloom Raskin, of all people, to be the Federal Reserve’s top bank supervisor. Her top priority is using bank regulation to redirect capital from fossil fuels to green energy.

Joe Biden’s green energy policies are so odious they are affecting the long term strategic planning of American energy companies.

Large energy producers are buying back stock and redirecting capital to renewables because they see the Administration’s writing on the wall. Small independent producers are eager to take advantage of higher prices but can’t get loans. Many relied on private equity during the last shale boom, but now these firms are cutting them off.

Progressive outfit Global Energy Monitor gleefully proclaimed Tuesday that $244 billion in U.S. liquefied natural gas projects are stalled because they “are struggling to find financiers and buyers” amid “pressure from cheap renewables”—i.e., rich green energy subsidies that Democrats want to make richer—and “tightening climate commitments.”

This article, Is It Intentional or Simply Ignorance? – American Thinker, explains in great detail how the Biden regime’s energy policies are most definitely causing gas prices here in the United States to skyrocket.

Among a number of things going wrong in America right now, worst of all is our totally unnecessary, self-inflicted end to energy independence.

This one is particularly frustrating because it is so unnecessary and arbitrary.  Based purely on liberal arrogance and adolescent egotism — not on well-considered business factors or with the country’s long-term well-being in mind — “President” Biden canceled the Keystone Pipeline as soon as he occupied the Oval Office.  This was simply a ploy to curry favor with the Green voting bloc and do something to counter President Trump.  It was the act of a shallow emotional simpleton and his behind-the-scenes puppet masters trying to look good in the eyes of the Squad and the liberal media.

It’s not as if the cancelation of Keystone in and of itself ruined our energy sector.  Biden also stopped any fossil fuel exploration in ANWR, voided existing oil exploration and development leases on federal lands, and sharply curtailed the ability of existing oil and natural gas fracking companies to conduct their operations.  This has markedly reduced our supply, but far more important, it sent a message to the world oil market that any possibility of substantial new American oil was stopped dead in its tracks.  The result?  We’ve now got hyper-inflation-inducing higher crude oil pricing, even before the Ukraine-Russia fandango fanned those flames even higher.

This piece concerning COVID in Hong Kong caught my eye:

Something very strange is happening in Hong Kong. I am not the first to write about it, but I wanted to do a good job compiling the information and informing my readers so this post is somewhat complete. I will include additional reading below.

Hong Kong’s stringent “Zero Covid” policy, stopped to work in mid-February and a “wall of cases” curve exploded in the territory.

It’s pointed out in the piece that the vaccination rates in Hong Kong are comparable with the US and Israel but not the results

Cases between Feb 13-Feb 17: 18,493

Deaths between Feb 28-March 4: 895

Calculated Case Fatality Rate: 4.83%

The relevant case fatality rate in the US for our recent Omicron peak is roughly 0.3%, or 16 TIMES lower.

Slow down and let it sink in: the case fatality rate in Hong Kong is 16 times HIGHER than in the US. That should make you curious.

It does Igor it does. Igor continues about various things in the piece concerning variants and the different policies in place to handle COVID but to my mind there is one basic question and it has nothing to do with vaccination, quarantine status or anything else along those lines.

Exactly WHO are the people dying?

Does it not occur to anyone that China might take advantage of a spike in deaths to remove people they consider troublemakers, activists, pro-democracy folks, strong Christians and those who don’t follow the official state version of the Catholic Church from Hong Kong and blame their death on the virus?

This would seem such an obvious question given that these deaths are taking place under the communist rule that brought you the Cultural Revolution and the great purges that slaughtered tens of millions that one wonders how it was not asked before.

I would bet real money that the COVID plague throughout China over the last two years disproportionately affected enemies of the state.

Quite unexpectedly of course

I am completely convinced that the grief the world in general and our country in particular is facing is due to our “Post Christian” Society. The world is designed to chew people up and spit them out, and if you choose to face it without the protections and or comfort of God he will reluctantly comply with this request. That’s what free will is.

There is sudden word that there might be a breakthrough both in the MLB talk and between Putin and Ukraine. The way the talks between the MLB owners and players were going it would not have been a bad bet to say that Putin and Zelensky will settle their differences before the players and owners do. That these idiots can not come to terms on how to split the huge amount of money they get for playing a game instead of having to do arduous physical labor or boring repetitive work for 1/10 of what they lowest paid MLB player gets is beyond me.

Furthermore if the owners aren’t happy I suspect there is a long list of very rich people and groups who would be happy to take any team off the hands of any owner who doesn’t want it.

None of this is a surprise, if they haven’t figured out how to promote the greatest game ever invented why should they know how to split the cash from it.

The magnificent Debra Henie has penned a must read piece on the COVID vaccines and information that has come from studies and FOIA requests that prompts me to make a prediction.

Sometime over the next four years that media is going to pivot and start calling the COVID vaccines the Trump vaccines. When this happens that’s when you know the most damming information and/or side effects from the current crop of vaccines will be so apparent that it can’t be hidden from the public.

I still think they were worth developing given the emergency and our lack of knowledge but the failure of both medical and government authorities to be straight with people and trust their judgement is (see 1st entry btw) is in my opinion going to have even greater long terms consequences than the disease or the vaccine.

When I saw this at Twitchy my first thought was: “There’s a vagina museum? What do you look at there, old vaginas?” Of course that little one liner pales before their inability to figure out what a woman was.

It really never ceases to amaze me that there are a bunch of people who thought that those who were so intent on redefining “marriage” to suit their proclivities thought that people would stop redefining words at “marriage”.

Now “man” and “woman” are redefined to the point where people are afraid to say basic truths and this small comedy clip from a classic movie

is now “hate speech” which I define as any speech the left hates.

The inability and the fear to speak the truth is again a sign of a post Christian society and I submit and suggest it is completely by design.

FYI you know you’re getting old when a movie from 1990 is a “classic” movie.

Finally WQPH 89.3 FM Shirley Fitchburg is looking for someone to sponsor their booth at the Catholic Men’s conference April 2nd at Assumption College in Worcester MA. It’s about $600 so if you or your organization have an interest in sponsoring all or part of that cost click here to go to the site and donate. Specify that this gift is going toward sponsoring said booth. I’ll be there doing interviews and taking prayer requests

Speaking of WQPH the show that I host on the station Your Prayer Intentions Saturday at noon is going to be rebroadcast at Midnight the same day starting either this week or next. If you wish to have a prayer request included on the show head over to the WQPH prayer wall here and post it. You can also include the names of the deceased that you want included in our monthly indulgence calendar. In fact if you do the sponsorship I mentioned it can be in the name of or in memory of a loved one.

That reminds me I forgot to include this months indulgence calendar in a post on the site. That’s what I get for doing it so far ahead of time. If you want to download it (PDF format), it’s here.

No fly, no oil, no kidding

Americans may disagree on many things, but it’s clear they take the war in Ukraine seriously.

A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows an overwhelming majority of Americans (74%) support establishing a no-fly zone over Ukraine, banning U.S. imports of Russian oil (80%), and imposing further penalties on the Russian economy (81%).

It’s time for Brandon to realize he’s leading from behind. Again.

The Russian invasion poses a significant threat to various countries, including Poland, a NATO member and key American ally.

If Russia had invaded Ukraine 20 years ago, there is little question that the United States would be helping as much as possible. But the disasters in Afghanistan and Iraq have made U.S. leaders reluctant to engage in the world.

It feels a lot like America in the late 1970s and early 1980s after Vietnam when the United States was reluctant to engage in world affairs. America was tentative and fearful; Ronald Reagan changed that.

Although I support Donald Trump and DaTechGuy on most issues, I think they’re wrong about keeping out of this battle. I firmly believe that despite the troubles Putin and his military have faced in Ukraine, they’re likely to keep pushing their weight around in other places, such as the Baltic States.

Here’s what I think we should do:

–Remind Americans that the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances of 1994 pledged that the United States, Russia, and others not to invade Ukraine, in exchange for that country giving up its vast nuclear arsenal. Putin has violated that promise. While America did not commit to defending Ukraine, the United States is morally obligated to do so.

–Impose sanctions on Russia’s oil and gas industry. Even though oil exports have dropped because of nervous shippers and insurers, Putin is still getting the product through to European and U.S. consumers. This move would likely push up gasoline and heating prices, but it will also have Brandon and his minions reconsider the need for American energy independence. [Update: Brandon imposed sanctions. Now he needs to open up U.S. drilling].

–Help to create a no-fly zone with NATO over Ukraine to allow an acceleration of weapons deliveries and humanitarian supplies. Some analysts and government leaders are concerned that such a move would result in battles with Russian aircraft. That is certainly a possibility, but Russians have steered clear of Western fighter jets in places like the former Yugoslavia and Iraq.

Audentes fortuna iuvat. Fortune favors the bold.
