When the right loses a ten commandment ruling the monument gets moved or put on private land. When the left loses a ruling on the placement of a cross, they tear it down.

The 76-year-old Mojave Cross war memorial in San Bernardino County’s High Desert has been torn down by vandals, just days after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the religious symbol could remain — at least temporarily — on public land.

Sometime Sunday night, the cross was taken down from its perch atop Sunrise Rock in the Mojave National Preserve, according to Liberty Institute, a group that represented veterans groups and caretakers of the cross in the recent Supreme Court Case.

“This is an outrage, akin to desecrating people’s graves,” said institute president Kelly Shackelford. “It’s a disgraceful attack on the selfless sacrifice of our veterans. We will not rest until this memorial is re-installed.”

You know if unbelievers didn’t actually believe that God existed a cross would just be two sticks on over the other and it wouldn’t bother them. The fact that it drives them into such a rage suggests the line from Screwtape about people who’ve walked away from God being bothered by any reminder of him.

In fairness there is always the chance that someone else might have nicked the cross. If it turns out I’m wrong I’ll certainly highlight it prominently.

Dean arrived a little late to the conference but still made time to talk to me.

…and asked him for his reaction on the Phoenix Suns business today.

He informed me he thought this was an extremely short sighted and foolish move by both the Suns and the NBA that would likely backfire. He believes that most of the people complaining haven’t actually read the law and are working off of what the media has said.

I brought up the example of the Suns checking tickets or letting people in without enforcing their own admission rules he said that gets to the point of the issue.

I’m grateful for the Minuteman project for getting back to me. I’m still waiting to hear back from the Suns concerning my interview requests via both phone and e-mail.

I ask again, will the Suns decide to check for tickets of people trying to get in? Will they decide to check the tickets of people sitting in seats to see if they are in the right seats? What will they use to determine if they check. Will they profile the people in the stadium?

The Phoenix Suns Basketball Communications (Media) line is (602) 379-7920. If they don’t get back to me perhaps you might ask them the same question?

I wonder if it’s a requirement of Taxi Drivers in Washington DC that they all have to be wise and Godfearing:

Our taxi driver spoke in a thick Indian (from India) accent, “Where have you been?”

I responded, “The Tea Party!”

He didn’t say anything pro or con, so my curiosity asked him, “What do you think of Obama?”

He began gushing his disdain for the policies of the current administration. We spoke about the surge of government control, the irresponsible spending, the rising taxes which will cripple small business, destroy the middle class, and collapse our already weak economy, the lies, elitism, disappearing Freedom…and the hope of the November election. We got to the hotel and began disembarking the taxi. I fumbled for my money.

Standing in the middle of the dark street, a street lamp lighting his face, the Indian taxi driver said, “It reminds me of the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego…”

It goes without saying that you should read the whole thing the nice lady wrote. It will remind you of this.
