Be Careful What You Wish For Pam Bondi Edition

The bad news is that the withdrawal of Matt Gaetz from consideration for AG gives the NeverTrump being institutionalized left a victory when they needed to be kept in a panic.

The good news is that MSNBC is now living the old saying: “Be careful what you wish for” concerning his replacement:

Pam Bondi knows what she’s doing. She knows what she’s doing about immigration. Remember, Florida has been one of those states that has been very aggressive about migrants and deportation and moving people to different states. And everything else like that. Florida has enacted all sorts of rules and laws to curtail students and what they can do on campuses, and finding legal justifications for manipulating education money.

She is a dangerous and effective pick. And that’s, frankly, worse than what we would have gotten with Matt Gaetz, even with the deplorable moral background he has.

That’s Jason Johnson on MSNBC noting Bondi’s background and the fact that she will cruse into the position without any of the distractions of the Gaetz story (odd though they are) and be faced with an AG who will push things in the direction Trump wants.

Plus Gaetz can always take his place in the new congress that he was elected to as he can’t resign from a seat he doesn’t hold yet, and there is also nothing stopping him from being put in a non-confirmation position as well.

Perhaps the left should have left well enough alone.

The internet has been buzzing with news and analysis of President Trump’s proposal to cut 2 trillion dollars from the federal budget.  This Townhall article contains the best analysis I have yet found: The DOGE Initiative Is Clearly Needed but It Is Not Enough

President-Elect Trump recently announced his intention to create a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) that will be led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. This will be an external initiative to identify ways to improve the economy, efficiency, and hopefully the effectiveness of the federal government from an organizational and operational perspective. Stated differently, it seems to be an expedited and expanded Grace Commission type effort with a reporting date of July 4, 2026, which is America’s 250th birthday.

This initiative is much needed and long overdue. In fact, I called for a Government Transformation Initiative over twelve years ago. An initiative designed to streamline and simplify the organization of the federal government, attack fraud and waste, devolve certain functions and activities to the states, leverage technology, and implement modern planning and management practices, including human capital practices.

The DOGE can help to shed light, create heat, and make recommendations to improve federal government operations. Its recommendations will need to be sent to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and designation regarding, which can be done through an Executive Order, which would require legislation, and which would require a Constitutional Amendment.

The last paragraph of the quote highlights the main limitations of the DOGE.  It lacks teeth, requiring many improbable actions before significant cuts can be made.

Restoring fiscal sanity and sustainability will also require a comprehensive review and reassessment of current mandatory and discretionary spending programs as well as tax policy. Attempting to perform this type of review and reassessment cannot be done on a piecemeal basis through the regular order. Congress cannot even pass the annual appropriations bills on time!

While we need to adopt more pro-growth-oriented policies which can help to ease our burdens, our fiscal gap is too great, and our financial hole is too deep to simply grow our way out of this challenge. Tough fiscal choices are needed sooner versus later.

Republicans in both Houses of Congress need to put on their big boy pants start doing what should have been done many decades.  They need to eliminate each and every federal bureau, agency, and department that is not directly by the Constitution.  The entire administrative state must be eliminated.  This will require legislation which RINOS will balk at.

You would think that two weeks after Trump’s election and a full two months before his swearing in the left would have calmed down a bit.

You’d be wrong:

Calls for Morning Joe to be boycotted have come from Jen Rubin and Joe and Mika have been attacked by the left for daring to even speak to Trump

Of course if you don’t have all that many viewers will anyone notice if they leave?

And as Comcast is dumping the whole network will anyone care?

Rob Reiner is being attack on Bluesky for apparently not being loyal enough to the left reich.

Rob bleeping Reiner isn’t left enough for the left anymore.!

Did nobody teach these lefties that Robespierre was eventually killed by the mobs of the state that he led?

Piers Morgan had a boatload of leftists on his show to talk about the Trump win.

There is an interesting exchange between Cenk Uygur & Allan “My method assures me Kamala will win” Lichtman that’s getting a lot of views.

Lichtman is also leaving X doesn’t want to interact with those who disagree anymore I guess

They’re eventually going to run out of their own allies to eat but not yet.

Of course the best sign of the left falling apart are people with something to lose both running away from their agenda.

Disney has reportedly decided to shelve an episode of the children’s cartoon series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, apparently over its plot concerning a transgender high school athlete.

And keeping their stars in line:

Just when maybe Disney thought they’d gotten a handle on their difficult production and its even more difficult star, Zegler went on a rant last week, wishing harm on Donald Trump supporters. “There is a deep sickness in this country,” she wrote on Instagram. “May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace.”

Then she quickly changed her tune again — likely after some stern words from Disney — claiming, “I would like to sincerely apologize for the election post I shared on my Instagram last week.”

“I let my emotions get the best of me,” she continued. “Hatred and anger have caused us to move further away from peace and understanding, and I am sorry I contributed to the negative discourse.”

When there is money at stake things change.

But the really funny thing of the week was this from the view after going after the Matt Gaetz nomination and Gaetz personally having to put out a disclaimer live on TV.

RedState nails it:

What’s so great about this is just how much Hostin clearly didn’t want to read it. Watch her facial expressions, which are not subtle in the slightest, and then listen to her struggle to make it through.

Never has a show host wanted to rip the heart out of their producer more than Hostin in that moment. Just before she starts reading the statement, she has some kind of spasm. From there, you can tell she’s doing everything she can to hold it together. Hostin did not want to offer that correction, but even overpaid elites have to play by the rules of the legal system. Well, at least sometimes.

Remember Trump won’t be President for another two months and no votes are going to take place on any of those guys before then. Everything you’re hearing now is just noise.
