…so of course he pooh poohs them on Morning Joe.

Hotair is Cautious too but cautiously optimistic:

And he adds a fourth caveat to PPP’s blowout forecast: If Scozzafava thought that her supporters would defect to Hoffman after she withdrew, she wouldn’t have withdrawn, would she? She’d have stuck around for two more days until the election to help out her pal the Democrat by keeping those votes from DH.

How weird is it getting? Dede the angry is supporting the democrat and her campaign manager is supporting Hoffman:

“Dede is entitled to her own opinion, as is everyone, but I obviously disagree with her decision,” Burns told us today, a day after leaving the campaign. “I am supporting Doug Hoffman, because denying Nancy Pelosi another foot soldier is vital to restoring fiscal responsibility and common sense in Washington.”

Burns, who was raised in the CD but is now based in MN, said he decided to join Scozzafava’s team in order to keep the Dem-trending seat in GOP hands. “In her heart of hearts, she’s a good person. She’s a capable legislator,” Burns said. “But I don’t think supporting a candidate who would back Nancy Pelosi is the best way to get our nation on the right track.”

How did this happen? Well Robert Stacy is all over this:

Scozzafava’s poll numbers had been collapsing for weeks. An Oct. 15 Siena College poll showed she had fallen behind Democrat Bill Owens, while insurgent Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman had picked up momentum. Her support melted down rapidly after an Oct. 19 incident when her husband, union organizer Ron McDougall, called police on Weekly Standard reporter John McCormack, who had tried to get her to answer questions about her position on tax increases and “card-check” legislation. Even before the confrontation with McCormack, however, Scozzafava’s candidacy failed to draw strong GOP backing in a district that regularly voted by 2-to-1 margins for Republican Rep. John McHugh, whose appointment as Army Secretary had created the vacancy to be filled by Tuesday’s special election.

Hoffman’s conservative campaign effectively doomed the Republican nominee by exposing her liberal voting record in the New York legislature. If Scozzafava was “unable to effectively address many of the charges that have been made about [her] record,” that was because the charges were true. After 11 years in Albany, during which she had risen to the rank of minority whip, Scozzafava had amassed a voting record more liberal than many of Democratic assembly members. That her policy stances put her at odds with most Republican voters in the largely rural 23rd District was a liability that seems to have been overlooked by the GOP insiders who picked her for the nomination. Once the Hoffman campaign began hammering Scozzafava for her assembly record and positions on national issues, the Conservative Party candidate quickly gained ground against both her and the Democrat, Owens.

This woman was the Republican MINORITY LEADER WHIP? No wonder the democrats have been handing us our hats in NY.

…that took place around 6:47 a.m. EST and it’s one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a while, mocking the MSM predictions that the Election of Obama has changed the country.

Now the Dede the angry has decided to go democrat: (Someone should ask Susan Collins if she is glad she campaigned for her last week).

He made fun of the fact that the media is insisting the the reason why Dede the angry was dumped was abortion and gay marriage. An example:

The Brooksville Republican — and Albany native — was in New York recently to help Scozzafava raise money along with Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine.

In an interview last week, Brown-Waite said Scozzafava was being unfairly maligned and had a solid Republican record. Scozzafava ran into troubles with her base — including Sarah Palin — for supporting gay rights and abortion rights and was perceived as not tough enough on fiscal issues. “I resented that here was a woman whose stand is so similar to John McHue’s (who resigned the seat to become President Obama’s Army Secretary) and yet she’s being attacked.”

Frank Rich was even crazier but lets look at Sarah Palin’s actual endorsement:

Pretty generic, but the next paragraph is sure to be a litany of social issues right?

Well yeah yeah yeah spending spending spending but I’m sure the next part is going to be all over Gay Marriage:

Political parties must stand for something. When Republicans were in the wilderness in the late 1970s, Ronald Reagan knew that the doctrine of “blurring the lines” between parties was not an appropriate way to win elections. Unfortunately, the Republican Party today has decided to choose a candidate who more than blurs the lines, and there is no real difference between the Democrat and the Republican in this race. This is why Doug Hoffman is running on the Conservative Party’s ticket.

Well she mentions Reagan and he was against Gay Marriage, of course there was no pol for gay marriage during the Reagan years. So it’s maybe implied but I’m sure she will finish with social issues:

Republicans and conservatives around the country are sending an important message to the Republican establishment in their outstanding grassroots support for Doug Hoffman: no more politics as usual.

P. S. Without a doubt defeating her as a republican is the single most important outcome of this race. Even if the election is lost on Tuesday we have won big but the party doesn’t get it.

Update: Eric Erickson is playing Red Queen and he has cause.

I had intended to start a daily reminder that Pete Sessions and Guy Harrison remain on the job and should be fired. They wasted $900,000.00 on a “Republican” who dropped out and endorsed the Democrat.

If Pete Sessions and Guy Harrison have such little respect for donor money in this race, how can we trust them in other races. After all, except for the Pauline Kaels of the Beltway GOP, it was abundantly obvious to everyone else that Dede Scozzafava was not a moderate, but a Democratic leftist.

Sadly, I don’t have the time. There are bigger fish to fry. I do think either or both Sessions and Harrison must be fired if they will not resign. Dignity and common decency demand it.

They seem to have none though and there are only so many fronts on which we can fight. So we will remember this, but we will choose to fight another day.

After all, we did win. But if I were a Republican Congressman, I’d be hacked off by the malpractice at the NRCC.

I can’t even escape via Doctor Who!

If you are a Doctor Who fan (and if you’re not you should be) you should check out the web site Life Doctor Who and Combom. It is one of the better sites on the web that covers the news of the series.

Yesterday he lined to a wired article by Scott Brown that apparently he didn’t realize was available online not online (he scanned it in) concerning can us Yanks appreciate Doctor Who? As his commentators noted it appears we have been watching two different series than the writer Mr. Brown, that was a slight annoyance to a Who vet like me but this bit just clinched it:

Sound familiar, America? Oh, I can hear the teabaggers now: This is defeatist talk! Doesn’t sound like your cup of Tetley, eh, Glenn Beck? Fair enough: Enjoy your Transformers and the baby-faced club kids of the new Enterprise.

I vented my spleen in comments there. My sons and I just want to enjoy our Doctor Who but I can’t due to another as Jay Nordlinger has called it safe zone violation, but I promised a longer response so here it is…

Memo to Brown I’ve been watching the show for 30 years, I have (and have reviewed) many of the Big Finish audios. I know the series very well and if anything it is an illustration of the value of action rather than non-action.

I will happily stipulate that whenever possible the Doctor will use a scientific solution rather than a violent one but they come at a cost. And that doesn’t preclude violence and guns (No matter what Sarah Jane says) if needed, let review:

In Planet of the Dead Unit kills the two creatures that come through the wormhole instead of the Doctor noveling them somehow.

In The Next Doctor Miss Hartigan’s Brain is fried by the Doctor’s action to save the city.

In the three part finish to last season (Stolen Earth, Journey’s End) the Doctor scolds his twin for destroying the Dalek fleet even though he knows that millions will die if it is allowed to live, his primary plan to stop Davros from slaughtering the universe is…to beg him not to.

In Turn Left the world is saved by Donna Noble killing herself

In Midnight the Doctor is saved by the Hostess killing the Ms. Sylvertry and taking herself with her.

In Unicorn and the Wasp Donna saves the day by drowning the wasp against the Doctor’s desire

In the Sontaran Stratagem and the Poison Sky the Doctor’s solution is to destroy the Sontaran ship killing them, only the fact that someone else did it prevented him killing them himself.

In Planet of the Ood the doctor actually…doesn’t do anything. Ood sigma and the friends of the earth solve the issue and it was because of , wait for it. Bloody Revolution.

In the Fires of Pompeii he kills the Pyroviles.

And lets take a quick peek at what happens when he refuses to kill The family of Blood?, How many people die because the Doctor isn’t willing to kill the four aliens in season 3’s The four humans they take over, the vet at the door, the two teachers, those who were shelled, the family of the little girl etc etc etc…

And you can go back to the primary series, The Invisible Enemy, The Invasion of time, The Sontaran Experiment, Terror of the Verviods, Snakedance, Monster of Peladon to see the Doctor do what has to be done to save the day.

Granted he does hold back, he does wait he tries every other method he can but in the end when talk can’t solve the problem he acts, and during the times when he just can’t pull the trigger and is about to be killed, (particularly in his 9th incarnation) someone else does it (Rose, The parting of the Ways).

One note about the 9th incarnation, his unwillingness to kill in part of the plot and the psychological injury of the Time War so it can be excused to some degree but even in that season he can do what needs to be done, (World War III).

So PLEASE don’t give me that pap about “Glen Beck” types etc. We who recognize that there are times when you have to act rather than talk know the cost and we recognize the cost of inaction is often even higher. Or as Ronald Reagan said:

Let’s set the record straight. There is no argument over the choice between peace and war, but there is only one guaranteed way you can have peace–and you can have it in the next second–surrender.

Admittedly there is a risk in any course we follow other than this, but every lesson in history tells us that the greater risk lies in appeasement, and this is the specter our well-meaning liberal friends refuse to face–that their policy of accommodation is appeasement, and it gives no choice between peace and war, only between fight and surrender. If we continue to accommodate, continue to back and retreat, eventually we have to face the final demand–the ultimatum. And what then?

For a long time our friends worldwide on the left had the privilege to tell us how primitive we where and less enlighten because they lived under the umbrella of our protection. As our current administration dithers on said protection others will have to make the choice to give in or stand up. To quote Mark (Dr. Who gay mafia) Steyn from his book America Alone:

A while back, I was struck by the words of Oscar van den Boogaard, a Dutch gay humanist (which is pretty much the trifecta of Eurocool). It’s is a shame that I have to write this post, I just want to enjoy my Doctor Who and the adventures in time and space, but the more enlightened won’t allow it. I say to them you would make a good Castellan Kelner.
