Twitter and Facebook Cross the Rubicon (but might not know it)

The big story of the day is not as some are suggesting the Hunter Biden story at the NY Post which provides proof of the wrongdoing of the VP’s son and his knowledge of said wrongdoing, or even the fact that Democrat hack George (I’m an unbiased journalist, sure I am) Stephanopoulos didn’t even ask him about said story at the ABC town hall.

Anyone who has followed the career of Joe Biden or of Georgie the fixer would not be all that surprised by it.

The big story is and remains the decision of Twitter and Facebook to cross the Rubicon.

You see once you chosen sides publicly there is no going back. You can’t “uncensor” these people and have either conservative in general, who they have been picking on for years or the Trump administration in particular, who never trusted them believe that all is now well and once the election is over they will let bygones be bygones.

That’s not how President Trump works. He is a Jacksonian with a long memory.

So I’m not surprised when I see this:

I told you they’re all in on their censorship. Twitter is now deprecating links to official dot gov websites.

or this:

We’ve seen some backing off but I find that hilarious because they have apparently not figured out that the retribution they will get from the reelected Trump administration will not be any less then if they kept it up.

I’m not completely shocked at this move as I believe ans suspect that this was all authorized by people in middle management who presumed the support of their superiors because their tribal political opinions without realizing the line they crossed or the consequences thereof to the bottom line in the long run that the big boys understand

But like Robert E Lee being forced by Maj. Gen. Robert Rodes into battle on ground he did not choose at Gettysburg Jack, Zuck and company find themselves in a fight on ground that doesn’t favor them forcing them to either run or commit their entire resources to try and salvage a victory.

Neither option is going to end well. If they choose to stay and fight (which I think they still might despite trying to bluff their way out I believe their version of Picket’s Charge will fail with a lot less success than the original and then Trump, unlike Meade, will not fail to follow them up and finish them off.

Their attempts to equivocate and bluff are the equivalent of trying to run in the face of the enemy and again, Trump unlike Meade will not waste any time hitting them in motion and destroying them.

Postscript. It’s worth noting that no matter what the result of the election, that any suits against these social media giants face (and they will invariably come over these actions) will ultimately be decided a Supreme Court that will include Amy Coney Barrett.

I’ll enjoy that too.

I’m Old Enough to Remember When People Thought Twitter Banning Stacy McCain wasn’t a test run for this stuff

Way back when my friend Robert Stacy McCain was banned for “targeted abuse” he asked the following:

Well, what is “targeted abuse,” what constitutes “participating” in this behavior, and what are the “rules around” it? Where is the evidence that I have been “violating the Twitter Rules”? Who was “targeted”? What was the nature of the “abuse”? Questions like this multiply, you see, if we can be permitted to ask questions of the arbiters of “Twitter Rules,” but that’s just it: No questions allowed!

This morning, again without explanation, the @SexTroubleBook account — which I created last year to promote my book — was suspended.

Everybody is shocked, shocked!

Feminism is evil. But you knew that, right?

The story actually reached Twitchy where the question was asked:

Well now we know:

IT’S COME TO THIS: White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany locked out of Twitter for sharing the New York Post’s Hunter Biden story.

But what’s really interesting is not that they are banning people like JtLOL for tweeting out the NYPost story on Hunter Biden or even that they are banning NYPOST editors or even that Facebook is trying to kill this story as well.

What I find interesting are reactions like this from people on the left:

Ladies and Gentlemen this is how far the left has fallen into Marxism. That Americans in America would consider this behavior as acceptable and complement it speaks volumes about who and what they are, and perhaps always were.

China would be proud

One can not shame such people. One can only defeat them.

Did you catch Trump’s Farsi Tweet?

I’ve been helping a new Public Affairs Officer get setup at her new job. We had a chance to talk about what influence’s people, specifically in news media, and specifically about the importance of understanding and communicating to your audience in a way that they understand. I brought up how during our BALTOPS exercise, one of the most popular items was an interview my boss had with a local news organization that was translated into Russian. It spiked traffic and I was shocked at how well received it was.

This Public Affairs officer called me this week with a short request, and then asked “Hey, did you see Trump’s tweet in a foreign language?”

Me: “Nope.”

Her: “Yeah, he tweeted about the Iranian executions in their language.”

Sure enough, a quick Google revealed that she was correct. President Trump tweeted in Farsi (the most common language in Iran) about his opposition to the execution of Iranian protesters. It’s quickly become one of the most popular Farsi posts. Ironically, Trump had previously tweeted in Farsi in January which became the most popular Farsi tweet ever. And just as interesting, I had not heard of this tweet. Granted, I’m not a Twitter user, but normally that sort of thing makes the news.

Tweeting in Farsi is hard. It’s not an easy language to use, and not easy to convert English into Farsi. President Trump is showing a pretty good understanding of how to make his tweets viral with a foreign audience he wants to influence. And yet…no mention of this, at all, in the media. Not even to make fun of it.

It’s the lack of coverage on these things that makes it too easy to believe the media is horribly biased.

Quaint Mount Rushmore Reactions

Last night after a trip to the reopened Funspot in NH (more on that later this week) got home and finally checked the net after a day of ignoring it (highly recommended) when the story broke of the democrats tweeting and then deleting this about a Donald Trump event scheduled for Mount Rushmore:

As you might expect they deleted it right away but not before it was screen grabbed and displayed for all too see.

I found both things rather quaint.

I particularly found it quaint that anyone would be surprised at this point by this opinion but beyond that…

I found it quaint that the democrats would delete the tweet as if they would actually pretend that this is not the opinion of their base

I found it quaint that the Democrats thought such a tweet could be deleted without notice.

I found it quaint that supporters of the President might thing, at a time when democrats are defending riots and arson nationwide might be embarrassed over hitting Mount Rushmore in a tweet.

But what I really find quaint is that at this point, with Democrat cities burning and preparing to jettison the police and promising more of the same that there are people actually undecided on how they will vote to the point where both sides might think this tweet will make any difference?
