Another primary, another never/trump republican bites the dust:

After a tight race, incumbent Representative Peter Meijer lost to Trump loyalist John Gibbs in Michigan’s GOP primary contest for the state’s third congressional district on Tuesday.

There was a time when Meijer’s re-election in the primary might have been considered a sure thing, then Trump endorsed his opponent:

“John Gibbs is a fabulous talent who loves the State, our Military, and our Vets. He will always protect our Second Amendment, our Southern Border, and the Police—there will be no defunding with John!,” Trump said of Gibbs.

Meijer, on the other hand, was one of ten Republicans to vote to impeach Trump over his role in inciting the January 6 Capitol riot. His election prospects seemed to sour after that move, with progressive polling agency Impact Research finding in a February poll that likely voters preferred any other Republican to Meijer by more than 40 points.

The tributes are pouring in for yet another useful idiots for the NeverTrump Democrat Left who has suffered the tragic result of his days of usefulness coming to a close:

I for one am shocked SHOCKED that the left did not repay him for being a stand up guy for their cause and instead used his vote to retire him from congress for mere party gain and join in their grief in their discoveries that the Democrat Left is not populated by honorable people out for the good of the country.

Adam Kinzinger for one thinks Democrats should be ashamed of themselves, but he’s not so ashamed as to jump off the Jan 6th witch-hunt bandwagon that is sending ordinary Americans to jail:

It’s first worth noting that Guy Reffitt never even entered the Capitol Building. He remained outside on the plaza. So he didn’t destroy or steal any property inside the Capitol. It’s also unclear how he could possibly have “obstructed Congress” by standing outside on the plaza. As to his “interfering with police officers,” it’s true that Reffitt did approach the police line, but he never drew his firearm. He shouted at the police, but then retreated when one of them pepper sprayed him.

No word on if the seven plus years Mr. Reffitt got for not entering the capital and not drawing his gun and not touching anyone on January 6th causes any of the people crying over Meijer’s election any grief, but I doubt it.

#unexpetecedly of course.

Update: Forget this one, top of the page mind you:

Don’t worry he doesn’t blame the Democrats he blames those horrible GOP voters:

Maybe the fact that Meijer voted to impeach the cult leader was all the voters in his district needed to know to toss him out. There never has been and, God willing, never will be an impeachment vote against a president as righteous and justified as the one Meijer cast on January 13 of last year, yet the GOP voters of his district punished him for it by taking away his job. That’s not a function of Democratic chicanery or GOP voters “going along” with it. It’s proof of Republican moral rot.

Normally I wouldn’t bother to have even clicked in any piece offered by Allapundit but I’m glad I clicked on this one. Remember the next time these folks ask you for subscription money what they think of conservatives that they are the alternate media for.

Update 2 Just saw this at Ace of Spades:

What an idea — that a paid, professional “conservative media” should, occasionally at least, feature actual conservatives working for it.

Personal news: My last day at Hot Air will be Friday, September 2

I wonder how many potential subscribers simply walked away after seeing his work. More from the land of Ace

If you’re worried about ol’ Allah, don’t be. He’s got all that Pierre Omidyar grifter money coming — the NeverTrumpers are the highest paid fringe political group in history — and he’s still doing what he loves to do, trolling conservatives.

The guy who is forever complaining about conservatives forever “owning the libs” continues perverting what is supposed to be a “news site of conservative views and opinion” into a nonstop exercise in “owning the cons:”

That may or may not be true but here’s the real question that’s worth asking:

Regardless of my opinion of Allahpundit and his current Opinions at Hotair he was one of the most senior writers in the place and thus likely had a lot of clout over what got linked, what made the headlines section etc. Given his seniority there that would not be out of line but I suspect those choices might have proved costly given the “Join VIP” model to comment.

It will be interesting to see if there is a change of direction in terms of the headline and how much linkage places like the Bulwark etc get once he’s gone.

Given that Sept/Oct is the leadup to election 2020 that pivot might be very significant.

There’s a sucker born every minute

One of the enduring principles of the left is to convince Republicans that in order to be elected or re-elected they have to follow the media agenda no matter what.

And some people like Republican Chris Jacobs fall for it:

Congressman Chris Jacobs (R-27) addressed school safety in a press conference at a VFW post in Lancaster Friday and said he supports a ban on the sale of AR-15s, as well as increasing the minimum age to purchase a firearm to 21. He was joined by New York State gubernatorial candidate and fellow congressman Lee Zeldin (R-1) at the presser.

The Democrats and media were delighted , the GOP not so much:

The Republican and Conservative parties are leaving GOP Rep. Chris Jacobs for dead following his call for a federal ban on assault weapons in response to the massacre by an avowed white supremacist in Buffalo

“This is not the person we endorsed. We did not endorse this Chris Jacobs … he’s actually to the left of [US House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi on this,” Conservative Party state Chair Gerard Kassar told the Post Thursday about his party withdrawing support for Jacobs’ reelection.

And poof, just like that in the year of the coming big red wave a GOP incumbent became unelectable:

Rep. Chris Jacobs is dropping his reelection bid after coming under fire from fellow Republicans for backing a ban on assault weapons.

The New York Republican said his newfound views on gun control would make a re-election bid difficult and divisive.

“The last thing we need is an incredibly negative, half-truth-filled media attack, funded by millions of dollars in special interest money coming into our community around this issue of guns and gun violence and gun control,” he said in announcing his withdrawal from the race.

Which means that instead of a sitting incumbent the left gets to run against a rookie which is exactly the result they where hoping for.

I’d feel sorry for Representative Jacobs if it wasn’t for two things:

  1. He did this to himself.
  2. He will without a doubt become the favorite GOP goto person whenever the left wants someone to hit the GOP on the issue of guns assuring him a place as a MSNBC on CNN Analyst once he leaves office.

At least he will until they decide the useful idiot is no longer useful.

Unexpectedly of course

Let me bluntly state what the goal for the Democrat/Media/left here is.

A dead “protester” (preferably of color) shot by a supporter of the president (preferably white) .

It won’t matter if said “protester” was looting, it won’t matter if they were throwing bricks or Molotov cocktails or even armed and threatening said Trump supporter, his business or his family.

One they have their dead protester they will label Trump supporters as killers throughout the media, just as they have blamed all police for the incident in Minnesota (while oddly INSISTING that all protesters not be blamed for riots, arson etc committed by some).

Furthermore the longer this goes on the greater the need for said dead protester as people generally don’t like having to worry about mobs torching & looting business, neighborhoods and have a dim view of pols who a week ago were willing to arrest people who went to beaches or cut hair but are not willing to speak up for fear that it might cost them votes from their base.

At that point they will need to change the subject, and the best way to change the subject is a body. After all this certainly changed the subject from the successful reopening of Florida, Texas & Georgia and the revelations concerning the Flynn investigations.

All they need is a body oh useful idiot, beware as they will be happy to have yours.

You have been warned

Do you think that for one minute that MSNBC in general or Morning Joe in particular would have David Frum on if he wasn’t arguing against the Republicans and/or the Tea Parties that he would be prominently featured on Morning Joe?

Note that MSNBC is pushing his article of MARCH 21st. Gee I wonder why MSNBC wants to promote an article from 12 days ago? Could it be that the polls are so depressing for liberals that they need someone like Frum to buck them up?

The Irony of all this comes via hotair in the form of twitter from Frum on the 25th:

@jpfreire @alanarusso @mcmoynihan No, I am not going on Countdown tonight. They kindly invited me, but no. 2:08 PM Mar 25th via TweetDeck

What is the difference between now and then? The amount of invites he is getting these days I suppose.

And a link to this story when Frum takes on those conservatives who didn’t support the war:

The paleoconservatives have chosen — and the rest of us must choose too. In a time of danger, they have turned their backs on their country. Now we turn our backs on them.

Ironically one of those paleoconservatives he was talking about is sitting across the table from him this morning.

His argument seems to be that we should have worked with the democrats on this bill. Although he is correct in the sense that given the choice between having the house and/or the senate or stopping the healthcare bill I would have much rather stopped the bill, his take sounds like “This is a horrible and long term disaster for the country, and we should have helped them to it.” Good Plan!

The only effective way to stop and/or reverse this would be to first take back congress and then take back the presidency in 2012. Unless these two things take place this election cycle this will not be repealed. The odds are still bad but it should be tried.

It is the “David Frum republicans” like Bob “we can’t repeal this” Corker that are doing their darnedest to throw this possibility away.

Mr. From et/al have argued against social conservatism in the party, now he is arguing against the fight on the single biggest fiscal issue.

Maybe it’s just me, but a party that consists of only Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe and Andrew Sullivan just doesn’t sound like one that makes a majority.

Oh BTW did anyone notice that the only time Tucker “he’s not worth $800 a week” Carlson was when he broke a story hitting the GOP? It was a legit story but wishful thinking until the MSM bothers to pick up the actual pro-conservative stories there the daily caller is going to be just a larger than avg blog that preaches to the choir.

Let’s close with one more Frum quote from that article above:

America has social problems; the American family is genuinely troubled. The conservatism of the future must be a social as well as an economic conservatism. But after the heroism and patriotism of 9/11 it must also be an optimistic conservatism.

The easiest way to lose a fight is to not fight it.
