A: Because no matter how bad I was treated and how poor the customer service was I could not in good conscience recommend windows Vista to a computer user when there was another alternative.
However windows 7 is now out and everything I’ve seen on it has been positive. So like Younger Bear in Little Big Man I can recommend Windows 7 over an Apple without becoming an evil person.
So excuse me while I do my dance of joy.

I’ve been on Windows Vista Ultimate for I guess 2 years now. No problems at all. It is a resource hog I guess but I have a nice self built system and it works just fine. I still might upgrade if I ever again manage to actually have some extra $$.
Every computer person I’ve dealt with direct used XP that didn’t regret going to Vista.
Yeah, I have never understood the sturm und drang that surrounded Vista. Sure, the DWM can slowly eat up ram, and the glass effects aren’t particularly useful, but there’s Windows Classic for that. And once the rest of the industry got up on the Vista driver model, I’ve had almost no problems with that. Combine this with the fact that it has a much more secure OS architecture than its predecessors, and there’s really not much wrong with it.
Oh, except for some quirky things in an enterprise environment (Why is the Administrator disabled by default? And what’s up with the trash– excuse me– “offline” profiles problem?). Even then, though, it isn’t a big deal at all.
Win 7 fixes all the “problems” I ever had with Vista, and then some. Aero Peek alone is worth the price of admission, methinks.
