Andrew Sullivan at the Mendoza line

At least according to Dan Riehl at Riehl world view who recalls an old Sullivan Post per election concerning Barack Obama:

On October 27, 2008, Andrew Sullivan posted: The Top Ten Reasons Conservatives Should Vote For Obama. Given all this playing out today, I thought I’d go back and have a look.

It’s high comedy but let me explain something. It’s my opinion Sullivan’s turn on Bush had everything to do with Bush’s position on Gay Marriage, it was after that point where Sullivan really started changing his tune and it was the (likely correct) belief that Obama was paying lip service to actual marriage during the campaign that made the difference in the other direction.

But as Glenn Reynolds points out the rubes are self identifying, but never fear. As soon a there is an actual Republican challenger to Obama all of our friends on the left who are beating their breasts today will support him, Mendoza line or no.

Update: Stacy Links and comments seem to agree with my Sullivan assessment, Oh and BTW the Mendoza line is a baseball term referring to hitting .200.

I’ll give this to Joe and Mika, they are consistant

They have been hitting the fighting in Libya with all the furor that they have used in hitting Afghanistan.

Barnicle correctly points out that if Gaddafi is not removed or killed this mission will be a failure.

Drew Walker on Twitter makes a great point for those saying Gaddafi is not a target:

How in the world do you bomb Qaddafi’s compound but say he wasn’t the target? Is stupid suddenly a new language?

It’s simple, we aren’t targeting Qaddafi, we are targeting Kaddafy totally different.

Both are serving but in different places

You might recall I reported quite a bit on Katherine Jenerette when she was running in a crowded Republican Primary.

As you know by now Tim Scott won that primary and is now one of two black republicans

serving in congress. Katherine Jenerette however is also serving, at a different location:

Scott was on his way to Baltimore-Washington International Airport to see ooff 35 troops to Afghanistan. Most of the men and women are from Arizona, California and Oregon, but two were from South Carolina, Capt. Katherine Jenerette of North Myrtle Beach and Sgt. 1st Class Marticia Maxie of North Charleston.

The country is lucky to have both of these fine Americans serving them and on a personal level Katherine stay safe.

Good thing we have the Arab League behind us…

A coordinated attack by Western forces targeting Libyan air capabilities and armor appears to have succeeded in damaging Libyan military installations and armor, but Arab support for the no-fly zone may be waning.

Arab League head Amr Moussa told reporters Sunday that the Arab league thought the use of force was excessive following an overnight bombing campaign that Libya claims killed at least 48 people.

“What we want is civilians’ protection, not shelling more civilians,” he was quoted saying by the Associated Press.

And more:

The volte-face by the Arab League raises uncertainty about the unity of Western and Muslim leaders and highlights varying interpretations of tactics and strategy.

Only Qatar has openly supported the Western-led campaign and Sky sources confirm the United Arab Emirates is offering help but does not seek to publicise

To steal a meme from Glenn Reynolds: “They told me that if I voted for John McCain and Sarah Palin, Arab friends who formally supported our actions would turn away. And they were right!”

Update: As Captain Ed says, that didn’t take long.

Update 2: That’s what stinks about taxes, when you are busy doing them you don’t notice an instalanche, thanks Glenn.

Update 3: Just an FYI there has yet to be a person voting in this poll (bottom of page) who thinks Gaddafi will be out of power by April 1st.
