Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but underneath are ravenous wolves.  By their fruits you will know them.

Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?  Just so, every good tree bears good fruit, and a rotten tree bears bad fruit.  A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree bear good fruit.  Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.

So by their fruits you will know them.

Matthew 7:15-20

Since the 60’s and before the secular left has told us that Christianity and the rules of Christianity are the problem.

They told us that Christianity repressed women.

They told us that Christianity kept people from achieving their potential.

They told us that Christianity repressed science.

They told us that Christianity was the cause of more of our problems than we can count.

They even told us that if removed Christianity from our school, from our public squares and from greater culture that rather than harm our culture it would advance it beyond our limits.

All we had to do is toss God and we could be fully human.

Well starting in the early 60’s we tossed God from our schools and at first it mattered little because all the student and teachers had already been taught.

Then in the 80’s we had a new batch of student and teachers but the teachers had been students in the 60’s so even if they weren’t teaching the moral law or the laws of God they still had a sense of it to pass on.

Then came the new millennium and for the first time where we had a society where neither the young nor those who taught them had been exposed to Christianity in general and the laws of God in particular.

To be sure there were those who clung to God, who taught their kids at home or sent them to private schools to be taught the lessons of loving God and loving their neighbor, to be informed of the choice between heaven and hell, to be informed that every soul is loved by God and has value before them and that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.

But those voices were marginalized in the greater culture. We finally had the society that the left had dreamed of since the 60’s a post Christian society a post Christian culture and twenty somethings not restrained by either the fear of hell, the promise of heaven, the idea that they have intrinsic value as a child of God loved so much that Christ died for them.

And now another generation later we see the result.

There are those who will blame guns, but our society was just as well armed before Christ was banished from our schools, in fact schools had gun clubs, shooting clubs and it was not unusual at all for an average citizen, many of whom had seen combat, to be armed.

Yet the shootings like those we saw this weekend in Texas and Ohio were almost completely unheard of, they were an aberration rather than a fact of life.

The left wanted a post Christian culture, well now they have one complete with the fruits of that culture, because they forgot something important.

Any time you remove God from the picture the devil moves in.

The last of my posts written pre-system disaster went up yesterday so here are five thoughts with no live links or graphics under my fedora. I’ll put full URL’s at the end so you can go to the stories using copy and paste.

At PJ Media via Instapundit comes numbers that would shock twitter (does anything NOT shock twitter?) concerning black voters. Trump gotten a bump in support despite the entire media/left screaming racist tweets.

I strongly suspect this is become a lot of black voters live in cities like Baltimore and know what he was saying is true and are glad that someone is actually talking about it in a way that might force action.

Could Trump actually embarrass the Dems enough to clean up their messes? I doubt it, because if he gets credit for it then the Black vote and the national elections it helps Democrats win are gone for a generation.

At Business Insider there is an excellent piece about the culture shock of moving his family from Hollywood to a small town in Idaho and the discoveries that said liberal made. He was shocked that people had their valuables in plain sight, kept their doors unlocked and tended to help each other without any kind of angle.

He also noticed that it was a highly churched culture, heavenly armed and not very diverse. I wonder if there is a connection there?

——————

You might remember that in the last Dem debate Tulsi Gabbard hit Kamila Harris on her record as Attorney General. By an odd coincidence a redesign of the California Department of Corrections no longer gives access to information concerning incarceration during the years that Ms Harris served, now displaying only the current year.

In fairness it is the home state of Nixon. No word if any relatives of the late Rosemary Woods were involved.

————————

The real irony of the success of the Gabbard hit on Harris isn’t that Harris biggest worry isn’t that she might have been a overzealous or a crooked prosecutor but that during her time she might have actually enforced a law that was on the books that liberals didn’t like.

Don’t you know only laws that GOP voters like are to be defied with impunity by those sworn to uphold them?

—————–

Finally the Red Sox have lost five straight for the first time in four years, managed to let an opponent beat them 8 times in Fenway for the 1st time in 53 years (1966 Orioles) and are playing like they know they aren’t going anywhere this year.

I would remind the world series champs that while there is nothing wrong with acknowledging that you can’t win them all, as professionals, particularly professionals on the club with the highest payroll in the league, you are being PAID to try to win them all.

It’s possible it could turn around and they have a punchers chance but I wouldn’t bet the farm on them this year without very attractive odds being given

The Cuban Deal Crisis

Posted: August 3, 2019 by ng36b in Uncategorized

We have a crisis in Cuba. Not one involving missiles (at least not yet), but one involving a lack of a deal. It’s been 3 years since Castro died and 8 years since Raul took over, and yet we seem no closer to a deal. Cuba is still the only place Americans are specifically banned from visiting, even for tourism, and although there are ways around it, the influx of people that started under the Obama administration has since died down.

Congress is challenging the ban, but it’s likely to go nowhere, given a split House/Senate and a lack of media coverage on the issue. One person that is paying attention is Vladmir Putin, and Russia has been working to increase military ties with the island nation. Ironically, with the end of the INF treaty, we could see renewed interest by the Russians in placing missiles in Cuba and Venezuela in response to US troop increases in Poland and Romania.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. While we’ve been at a standoff in Venezuela, a deal in Cuba is possible. It’s been enough years that the hardliners on both sides have died off. Cuba’s economy is not doing well, and Russia doesn’t have the cash or economy to offer a deal like the US can. A US deal with Cuba would deny Russia access to ports that they could safely operate Naval vessels, such as the Gorshkov-class Frigate that carry land-attack cruise missiles.

Perhaps that is the way we are headed. President Trump’s recent crackdown on Cuba travel might be intended to place the country in a more desperate situation to spark negotiations. He doesn’t like to negotiate unless he is in a good position, and the Obama travel relaxations were freebies with no conditions attached. Getting a Cuba deal, on top of a deal with North Korea and (maybe) Iran, would be quite a crowning achievement.

This post represents the views of the author and not those of the Department of Defense, Department of the Navy, or any other government agency.

Today at Hotair we see that CBS has provided proof that Donald Trump’s assertions about Baltimore

are in fact true

Charm City ended 2018 with a total of 309 murders, according to the Baltimore Police Department. So far in 2019, police report 196 homicides have occurred. Using the U.S. Census Bureau’s July 2018 population estimate for the city of 602,495, Baltimore’s 2018 murder rate is 51.3 murders per 100,000 residents.

The article ends with two simple words. CLAIM: TRUE.

The real significance of this piece is that it is NOT from CBS news, but from CBS Baltimore the local affiliate.

What does this mean, it means DaTechGuy’s 3rd law of Media outrage is at work.

The MSM’s elevation and continued classification of any story as Nationally Newsworthy rather than only of local interest is in direct correlation to said story’s current ability to affirm any current Democrat/Liberal/Media meme/talking point, particularly on the subject of race or sexuality.

Because of the confirmation of the White House assertion is diametrically opposed to the Democrat/Liberal/Media meme/talking points concerning the president they can not be safely reported on the national level.  They can however be safely reported on the local level by CBS Baltimore because the people in Baltimore already know how dangerous their city.

More importantly it allows them CBS to counter any claim they that they are hiding the fact by stating they in fact covered the story, they just did so without raising said coverage to national level, after all there are only so many minutes in a CBS news broadcast you know.

If I was the White House I’d have President Trump shout from the rooftops that CBS has confirmed their claims and if I was his campaign I’d have a bunch of blogs along with a bunch of people on twitter not only tweeting out CBS CONFIRMS WHITE HOUSE ASSERTION ON BALTIMORE, but I’d have a dedicated crew of bloggers searing the local CBS, NBC, ABC and PBS affiliates for stories like this that get burred on the local level.

But that’s just me.
