A large fraction of the nations of this world are descending into abject tyranny, caused by hysteria over the Wuhan Virus.  It is truly appalling to watch, knowing that it is even taking hold here in several states.

This article, Vaccine Segregation And Quarantine Camps Are Flashing Warnings To Stop Covid Insanity Before It’s Too Late, by the Federalist, chronicles the sickening tyranny.

In Austria, COVID-19 vaccines have become compulsory, and a “lockdown for the unvaccinated” has partitioned society into classes of jabbed and unjabbed. In Greece, those older than 60 without a vaccine are fined €100 ($112) a month.

Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Slovenia have all introduced vaccine passportsIn Lithuania, speakeasies and “Soviet-style markets” have opened to sell groceries to those incapable of entering stores without showing a vaccine passport. Now Germany intends to violate their Nuremberg Code, introducing a “de facto Covid lockdown for the unvaccinated” and possibly mandating vaccines.

None of this compares to Australia where:

Australia is setting up COVID quarantine camps, relocating people from their homes in towns with regional outbreaks. Guards are stationed to capture and return “people who escape.” No matter the “free wifi, nice food, and aircon” provided for detainees, internment at the camp is still involuntary for international arrivals on repatriation flights. A comfortable prison is still a prison.

The author of the Federalist article notes a dangerous historical parallel between the events now regarding the Wuhan Virus and the events and rhetoric that led up to the Holocaust and other mass slaughters.

The Parasite Stress Hypothesis finds the presence of infectious disease in nations with low sanitation is a prerequisite to authoritarianism. States enforce conformist social policies to reduce transmission, or “stop the spread.” Minority groups are scapegoated as harbingers of pestilence, with propaganda depicting them as rats, fleas, or parasites. Under communism, the Ukrainian Holodomor killed millions of people with the justification that they were “pariahs, untouchables, vermin.”

In other words, there is historical precedent to the claim that demonizing your fellow man as a socially irresponsible bioweapon can precede genocide. We’re watching other frightening prerequisites move into place as well.

The rest of the world is far more susceptible to genocide and similar horrors than the United States because our constitutional system is based on inalienable individual rights, rather than collective rights granted by the government.

Jean Jacques Rousseau’s “Social Contract” conceives rights as given by the government — not recognized and protected — thus allowing the government to rescind them at any time. This belief in government as progenitor — rather than guardian — of rights, is replicated in Germany’s philosophical tradition: with Friedrich Hegel decreeing that obeying the state provides “the very conditions in which Freedom is realized.”This line of thinking is why the French revolution differed from America’s; why Germany birthed Marxism and Nazism in the span of a century; and why Europe is now subject to forced vaccination. The American experiment is unique and a bulwark against the tyranny seen overseas.

All of the hysteria caused by the Wuhan virus pandemic is based on several lies and out right fraud.  The most notable fraud involves the PCR test, which is the test almost universally used to detect Coronavirus in humans.  Check out this article by the Brownstone Institute PCR Tests and the Rise of Disease Panic

PCR tests magnify the number of target DNA particles in a swab exponentially until they become visible. Like a powerful zoom lens, the greater the magnification needed to see something, the smaller it actually is.

The magnification in PCR is measured by the number of cycles needed to make the DNA visible. Known as the Cycle Threshold (Ct) or Quantification Cycle (Cq) number, the higher the number of cycles the lower the amount of DNA in the sample.

To convert Cq numbers into doses they have to be calibrated against the Cq numbers of standard doses. If they aren’t they can easily be blown out of proportion and appear more significant than they actually are.

Take an advertisement for a car for example. With the right light, the right angle and the right magnification, a scale model can look like the real thing. We can only gauge the true size of things if we have something to measure them against.

Just like a coin standing next to a toy car proves it’s not a real one, and a shoe next to a molehill shows it’s not a mountain, the Cq of a standard dose next to the Cq of a sample shows how big the dose really is.

The idea that PCR may have been used to make a mountain out of a molehill by blowing a relatively ordinary disease outbreak out of all proportion is so shocking it’s literally unthinkable. But it wouldn’t be the first time it has happened.

The effectiveness and safety of Coronavirus vaccines is another monstrous lie.

The announcement that another variant of the Wuhan Virus is spreading across the globe is causing a marked upswing in the hysteria an tyranny.  This hysteria and tyranny is based on a fraud because the Omicron variant is a mild variant.

CURLY: [stops Moe and Larry] Hey! What’s this stuff [Brighto] for anyway?

LARRY: Why, it’s a cleaner, ya chump!

CURLY: I know, it’s auto polish.

MOE: You boys really wanna know what it’s for?

LARRY AND CURLY: Yeah.

MOE: It’s for sale, now get busy selling it.

The Three Stooges: Dizzy Doctors 1937

Yesterday I saw this tweet from Scott Adams that struck a nerve:

Now I don’t have as big a problem with Big Pharma as a lot of others do. The development of drugs, any drugs is a complicated business and it’s the development of drugs by these guys over my lifetime that has made a good life possible for millions.

Now we are reaching a point where the incentives of government is to push profits for big pharma in order to keep control are so great that even for those who are honest and responsible in their cooperate board trusting them to say: “No I don’t think we need this product that we are going to make more dough off of then ever before” would be like trusting a 16 year old boy in charge of a harem completely unsupervised when every woman there thinks he’s cute.

But more importantly for all of them there is another principle here that is in play that I wrote about once before. It’s what happens in the environmental movement and the race movement and various political movements at the point of victory for activists:

Do you bask in the glory of your victory?  Do you celebrate that all your hard work has been successful?  Do you breathe a sigh of relief that your children and grandchildren are not going to die a horrible death in a parched poisoned earth?

Hell NO!

You’ve achieved status, you’ve achieved power, you’re living comfortably.  You’re invited to the right parties, feted over by stars who think your cause is SO important and pols on the local, state and federal level care what you say and act accordingly.

So you find a different crisis, it doesn’t matter if water is clean, it isn’t clean enough, it doesn’t matter if the polar bears have recovered, they haven’t recovered enough, sure 16 year olds can declare themselves whatever sex they want, but what about 7 year olds?  Yeah we’re out of Afghanistan but what about Europe?  Yeah we stopped the pipelines, but the trucks are dangerous too?  Do we really trust those figures that say the world isn’t going to end?  We need a 50 year study of our own to be sure.

Sure Florida has demonstrated that the pandemic is in fact over and we’re just dealing with another endemic disease that will affect a small group of people who are most vulnerable, but if we declare victory over COVID we can’t impose our will upon the people and if I’m big pharma am I going to turn down all those mandated sales without fear of lawsuits?

Now in fairness any corporation is about maximizing profits for the shareholders but in a post Christian society the restraints of morality are not there to temper those decisions. As for the activists and pols:

In short the emergency never ends, the solution is never good enough and the need for your dollars is NEVER more critical.

Because that’s when you quietly admit to yourself  that you’re not in the problem solving business, or the crisis prevention business,  you’re in the fundraising business, and the cause you support isn’t the rain forest, the whales, stopping big oil or the rights of man, it’s you.

These pols and activists are all just panhandlers with a nicer street corner and the ability to compel to some degree by force.

I’ll give the last word to Niven and Pournelle from their classic book Inferno:

Benito took out papers.  The man snatched at them, but Benito backed away.  He read: “Dear Jon, I could understand your opposition to us last year.  There was some doubt abut the precess, and you expressed fears all of us felt.  But now you know better.  I have no witnesses but you told me you understood Dr. Pittman’s demonstration.  In God’s name, Jon, why do you continue?  I ask you as your sister, as a fellow scientist, as a human being Why?…

…As we walked away, Jon screamed after us, “I’d have been nothing if I gave up the movement.  Nothing!  Don’t you understand?  I had to stay on as president!”

When you’ve had a blog for as long as I have you eventually end up dealing with things you’ve talked about before.

When I saw the stories about how the left is having problems with the whole “Latinx” business it brought to mind a piece I wrote about the special election for US Senate in Massachusetts in 2013 about the mythical land of “Hispanica”.

While I’m loath to give the left good advice as they’ll never take it I think I’m safe here. Also I think this piece is a good tip for the GOP with an election cycle coming up and the temptation to push candidates and positions with MSM approval is dangling in front of them:

So from June 26th 2013 here is the tale of:

The Mass GOP and the Fable of the Mythical Land of “Hispanica”

Mandy: You sound Scottish.
Amy: I am Scottish. What’s wrong with that? Scotland’s gotta be here somewhere.
Mandy: No. They wanted their own ship.
Amy: Good for them. Nothing changes.

Doctor Who: The Beast Below 2010

Once upon a time there was a political party in Massachusetts called the GOP that regularly lost elections for National office and that party had a choice to make.

For the 2nd time in four years they had a chance to face a Democrat after a tough primary race alone on a ballot without city counselors, town clerks,  governors counselors, ballots questions ,  state reps or senators that might have voters who supported them to help increase the Democrat party vote.

The last time this happened everyone, including the party expected to lose.  But the Tea Party base was energized, they volunteered in large numbers and they helped draw volunteers and funds from members of the GOP base nationwide.  Their candidate, with nothing to lose,  embraced that base and highlighted a single key issue that polled well among both the party and independents who made up the majority of the electorate in the campaign.

With the money and manpower the teaparty base drew the polling improved and the state party and national party decided to help after all.

Not only did their candidate win but that fall the Party they had the best showing in state elections for rep they had in years.

But the GOP decided they didn’t like the Tea Party people or the base because they said they wanted a louder voice in the party and the candidate decided the people voted for him because they loved him so much and not because the Tea Party and base worked so hard, so they pushed them away in the next election.

They not only lost the national seat they had won, but lost some of their new state rep seats too.

But even though the GOP didn’t like them the tea party, the base didn’t go away because they wanted their state to be better for themselves and their children so when there was another chance to win a seat in the same way they did in 2010 they found a candidate they agreed with and supported them in straw polls all over the state and said to the party:  “Please vote for our man and our people will come back and help beat the Democrats again.”

But the establishment decided didn’t want to support the tea party or the base’s man who agreed with them and wanted someone else.  So they thought and thought and came up with an idea.

You see the very smart people in the establishment of the national party noticed a lot of people had come to America and Massachusetts from a distant southern land called “Hispanica” and while culturally they seemed a lot like the base, they voted for the Democrats.  They decided this was because the law said the people from “Hispanica” who wanted to live in the US had to follow the same rules as people from England, Congo or even India, but they didn’t want to.  So the party decided if they made a new rule that allowed anybody who broke the law coming to America to stay all the people who came from “Hispanica” and their children who already were here would decide they would not hate the GOP any more and maybe vote for them.

So they found a candidate who not only supported that new rule but whose mom & dad came from “Hispanica” so he spoke the  language of “Hispanica” so that all the people whose families came from that southern land would see him and say:

“Look this man is the very first from our home of “Hispanica” to run for senate so we will support him even though the Democrats have told us for years that the people in that party were bad and hated all people from “Hispanica” and wanted to take away the money the government gives to some people who come from there.”

So the party backed him even though the base and tea party didn’t agree with him saying they might stay home, and the national donor base didn’t give him money to hire people to help him win either because he supported laws they hated.

The party establishment didn’t worry.  They were much smarter than the base or the tea party and knew because their candidate supported the new rules that the national establishment did and was a child of “Hispanica” he would make all the people from “Hispanica” decide to vote for him.

Election day came and even through the Democrats had plenty of money and their machine was ready to roll their candidate only managed to draw 60% of they votes the very bad candidate did in 2010.

So to win the GOP only needed to draw 55% of the voters they did in 2010.  In some towns where the base was larger than others , voters said: “Even though you disagreed with us and the “Establishment” doesn’t like us we think you are better than the other guy” and voted for him.

But even though he won those towns and cities many of the base in those towns stayed home and didn’t come to vote  so he didn’t get a lot of votes extra votes.

But they still weren’t worried because their candidate supported the new rules and was a child of “Hispanica” so he would make all the people from “Hispanica” decide to vote for him.

So on election day they went to a city with many people from “Hispanica” and said: “Look our candidate is a child of Hispanica just like you! Come vote for him!”  But the people of that city said: We’ve never heard of a country called “Hispanica” Our parents come from a country called “The Dominican Republic” and they voted for the party they always did.

Then they went to another town and said “Look our candidate is from the land of Hispanica just like you” and the people of that town said: “We’ve never heard of a land called ‘Hispanica” our fathers came from a land called “Brazil” and they voted for the party they always did.

And everywhere the story was the same, the people never heard of “Hispanica”, they said their fathers had come from places like “Mexico”, “Puerto Rico”, “Peru”, “Ecuador” and all those people voted for the same party they always did.

So when all the votes were counted the GOP got less than 45% of the people who came to vote for the party just three years ago and they lost the best chance they would have to win for a very long time…

…and they blamed the Tea Party and the Base.

The Moral of our tale? There are two:

There is no land of “Hispanica”.  Instead there are 25 Latin American counties with different cultures, peoples and traditions so stop pretending people from those lands will vote for you just because you ran someone named ”Gomez”.

You can’t add to your vote total if you chase away the base of voters most likely to support and finance you.

The End.

This is a lesson that would be handy to learn as treating each latino ethnic group as their own ethnic group will appeal to each nationality’s pride and shows respect. It’s a smart thing to do…which is why I don’t expect anyone to do it.

Reality: I’m going to tear down your safe space, I shall smash it with glee.

Cartman: Who is that?

Reality: You can’t stop me from getting inside. I am cold and dark and my name…is reality!

South Park: Safe space , song: In my safe space 2015

I’m rather amused at the left’s insistence that the primary problem they are having is messaging.

That because there are two primary factors hurting their messaging.

The first is reality.

It doesn’t matter getting a standing O at the Kennedy Center if people are paying twice as much for Gas as there were a few month before and their grocery bills are though the roof even as the supply chain falls apart.

Nor does it help when people you have cheered as heroes just a year or two ago (Cuomo) end up either resigning or being fired for offences against decency.

Furthermore it’s hard to ignore rampant crime to the point where local TV stations are giving advice on how not to be carjacked.

All of these things are being actually experienced by actual voters, primarally in actual blue cities. The reality is so pronounced that it’s very hard to spin it away.

And I’ve not even mentioned Afghanistan or even Joe Biden’s inability to speak or move without constant supervision.

But that’s only one component of the problem. The 2nd is almost as deadly.

For a long time the primary MO of the left and their media allies was to avoid talking about their actual beliefs and goal.

Now we have members of the left openly calling for no bail for criminals.

We have people openly supporting socialism and communism

We have an AG calling parents attending school board meetings domestic terrorists

And most important we have Democrat governors and mayors openly pushing mandates at work at school and even at home that are not working while at the same time the primary non-trump villain in your drama (DeSantis in Florida) is doing the exact opposite with a wide degree of success.

While this stuff might play inside the Democrat media bubbles of academia and media outside of those safe spaces they just don’t advance the cause.

Now given the methods used to win the last national election it may well be that it doesn’t matter what the voters think but in midterm elections at a time of heightened scrutiny this is a danger.

The Democrats, the media and reality have come out as what they are, alas for them it’s unlikely that they can be fit back into their bottle.
