Well we’ve now got our 18 teams and the Dynasty draft league for the 1970 season is starting to roll. It began with our Expansion Draft. We had four new players two of which took existing teams vacated by other players (Cleveland and SF) and two who took new franchises (California & Philadelphia). Those two teams participated in an expansion draft choosing players from existing teams. Each existing team was allowed to protect 7 players from the expansion draft and an additional five if a player was drafted from their team. Once any team lost 3 players (LA Dodgers) no further players could be drafted from it.

Here were the draft results by round

Having drafted 10 players in the expansion California will draft 16th in the full scale version ahead of Seattle & Behind LA. Because they took the full 12 players allowed the Philadelphia will draft last at 18th.

The Final Draft order for the 1970 continual draft league:

  1. Atlanta Braves
  2. NY Yankees
  3. San Francisco Seals (Giants)
  4. Cin City (Cincinnati Reds)
  5. St Louis Cardinals
  6. Boston Red Sox
  7. Washington Senators
  8. Oakland A’s
  9. Pittsburgh Pirates
  10. Baltimore Orioles
  11. Montreal Nos Amours (Expos)
  12. Minnesota Twins
  13. Cleveland Indians
  14.  LA Dodgers
  15. California Angels
  16. Seattle Pilots
  17. New York Day Traders (Mets)
  18. Philadelphia Phillies

Given that the actual draft will be 18 players from all over the country from NY to CA it will take at least a couple of weeks. I expect us to get started by the end of may or beginning of June, sooner if I can manage it, but we’re playing 162 this time and it’s going to be fun.

And if you like what you see, well we can always go to 20 teams next season.

UPDATE The rules for keeping players after the next season are as follows:

  1. World series winner 4 players
  2. World series runner up 5 players
  3. Division winners who don’t go to the series 6 players
  4. Division winners who don’t make the Pennant round 7 players
  5. Wild card teams who don’t go to the series 8 players
  6. 11th and 12th best records 9 players
  7. 13th and 14th best records 10 players
  8. 15th and 16th best records 11 players
  9. 17th and 18th best records 12 players

With 18 teams the divisions are going to be as follows

AL EastAL CentralAL WestNL EastNL CentralNL West
Seattle PilotsCleveland IndiansBoston Red SoxAtlanta BravesNY Day TradersLos Angeles Dodgers
New York YankeesCalifornia AngelsOakland A’s
Philadelphia PhilliesCincinnati RedsPittsburgh Pirates
Baltimore OriolesMinnesota TwinsWashington SenatorsMontreal Nos Amours (Expos)St Louis CardinalsSan Francisco Seals (Giants)
Bold indicates defending division winner from last season Bold Italic Pennant winner Bold italic underline World Series Champion

Divisions were set up with the following priorities in order

  • Division winners not to be put in the same division
  • Whenever possible players are placed in divisions with opponents living in the same time zone
  • If not possible traditional rivals are put together
  • Actual geographic location of the franchise

Thus since the Red Sox (Colorado), the A’s (Arizona) and the Senators (Nevada) all live out west they were put in the same division since with an unbalanced schedule (18 in division, 12 out of division 6 interleague) so alas the Redsox and Yankees will not share a division as the Yanks live in the east

two of the three AL central teams live in the central time zone while four AL team managers live in the east. California and Seattle were the obvious candidates to go to the central but as Cleveland is defending a division title and so is Seattle California was the default as it was the closest geographic choice.

The NL was more complicated four NL teams live in the east, four in the central and only one (Pittsburgh) on the west coast. Thus one eastern player and one central player had to go west. The obvious choices were the Giants and the Dodgers as they are both actual west coast teams and are also traditional rivals.

The conservatives at Disney

Only in Florida…California Disney requires a four year degree from a liberal school!

I just came back from a family visit to Disney. Yes, yes, I’ve been watching the news about Disney’s stupid comments about Florida’s anti-grooming laws. Yes, I know some people totally went on a Disney boycott and canceled their vacations. But that’s not me. I’d been planning a Disney trip since March 2020, and now two years later I wasn’t going to tell my kids we couldn’t go.

So we drove the nearly 12 hours to Disney, stayed at a nearby Marriott and went to Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot.

Did I see any crazy wokeism.

Nope.

I was looking for it to. Sure, the guy handing us our parking pass to Epcot had a really, really nice manicure (although black really isn’t his color!), but otherwise I didn’t see anything overt. All of my kids interactions with characters were…normal. Elsa didn’t try to persuade my son he was really a girl, nor did Alice in Wonderland try to talk my daughters into kissing other girls. Heck, we even heard “Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls!” when we were at Magic Kingdom.

Even stranger was the interaction I had with a security guard. Since I was pushing the stroller with two little kids, I went in a separate line to get screened. The guard noticed the Navy command on my hat (which is not obvious, so he was paying particular attention to me) and asked if I was in the service. After I told him I was, he asked me a strange question:

“Are you a fan of the former President?”

To which I replied “In fact, I am.”

Then he knocked me to the ground with a chop across my back, handcuffed me and yelled “F%^&ing J6 insurrectionist!” right in my face!

Just kidding, that didn’t happen. Instead, he reached into his pocket, pulled out a coin and handed it to me.

Yup, I was not expecting that. That coin is now proudly displayed in my coin rack at home.

Now, I’m not making excuses for Disney’s actions. They’ve had a woke problem for years. It’s sad because Walt Disney himself was a pretty great American. At the parks there is a museum devoted to Walt Disney’s artistic talent, and I was surprised by the large number of war related propaganda and cartoons he drew. The man was truly American, and to have to watch lesser men take his company and its legacy and flush it down the toilet to please a bunch the alphabet people is just sad.

But perhaps there is some hope for Disney. Removing their special governance was a solid shot across the bow. Perhaps we’ll see more conservative shareholders and more conservative employees voice their displeasure, and maybe Disney will get back on track. If nothing else, there are far more fellow conservatives at Disney than I would have given it credit for.

Oh, I am heartily tired of hearing about what Lee is going to do. Some of you always seem to think he is suddenly going to turn a double somersault, and land in our rear and on both of our flanks at the same time. Go back to your command, and try to think what are we going to do ourselves, instead of what Lee is going to do.

General US Grant Battle of the Wilderness 1864

You have done this deed in secret, but I will bring it about in the presence of all Israel, and with the sun looking down.

2 Samuel 12:12

Several things have come to mind with the fall of Disney, the Fall of Netflix and the upcoming fall of Twitter.

The first of course if how empires tend to fall, slowly then all at once.

The 2nd is how much of a difference fighting back means. The left was positive that nobody would resist them. The LGBTQ+ lobby were so powerful that even a company as powerful as Disney backed down, but once DeSantis stood up to them suddenly Disney, a company that employees over 30 lobbyists in Florida was unable to stop their privileges’ from being revoked and the further tanking of their stock

The 3rd is how thin and weak the left’s power actually is

Don’t think it’s not a coincidence that Exxon Mobil is rethinking the flying of the LGBTQ+ and BLM flags in front of their headquarters once people see that the cost letting a tiny minority intimidate you is higher then paying the Danegeld, the Danegeld will no longer be paid.

After all why do you think Kaepernick is begging for a chance at a football paycheck these days, the woke money is all gone.

The 4th is how contagious courage is: Once GOP pols see that this plays well with the voters, Particularly Latino voters who the left all assumed were radical activists, you’ll see these laws repeated and more Democrats howling off camera because they never were taught how to deal with defeat or negotiate with someone who disagrees with them.

But the biggest lesson of all of this is for the Deep state types and the activist types was is this:

None of this happens if they had made deals with Trump.

Note I didn’t say: “None of this happens if they don’t steal election 2020” I said none of this happens if they make deals with Trump.

Let’s go back to 2016. My biggest fear concerning Donald Trump was that he was a dealmaker. He was all about having specific goals for America and getting them done and right from the start he was willing to make deals with the Democrat left to get these things done.

This was no surprise, after all he had built hotels in blue cities and blue states and had been making deals with these guys all his life. He knew who and what they were and didn’t care. Their petty power trips, their perverted proclivities and their hereditary hubris where meaningless to him, except perhaps as something to note for future reference.

He wanted to get things done and as long as they helped him to do or stayed out of his way as far as he was concerned what they were doing wasn’t his business.

If Pelosi and Schumer and the rest of the left had played ball with Trump early they would have been in clover. He would have given them and their social agenda support to get his programs through. Not only would they have shared credit but all their nasty shit would have stayed under the radar. Time would have taken care of the Trump years and the deep state and all within it would have continued on unseen and unopposed except by a few of us.

I was very afraid they would figure this out, that they did not is one of the most unrecognized consequential moments in the history of America in the 21st century.

None of this happens without that failure, as a backup they could have chosen to not steal the last election then they would have had to endure only four more years of Trump and things would have been back to normal.

Now with the public reverses they have suffered they will find that having sewn the wind they will reap the whirllwind.

The Lord sure moves in mysterious ways.

Hi Ho Hi Ho Off Disney’s Tax Breaks Go…

If you’re not old enough to buy a Margarita you’re not old enough to decide to become ‘Margarita’

My Pastor at Breakfast yesterday

E.K Hornbeck: Tell me, uh, what do you think. of all these Monkeyshines?

Hotdog Vendor:  Got no opinionsirOpinions are bad for business.

Inherit the Wind 1960

Think about it.

Just sixty days ago if anyone had said there was even the slightest possibility of Florida Pols voting away Disney’s State tax breaks they would have laughed you off the face of the earth. After all as Breitbart noted in their article on the subject:

It should be noted Disney employs 38 lobbyists in Florida and has a strong hold on state Democrats and establishment Republicans.

Yet within 24 hours both the Florida Senate and the Florida House passed bills revoking the Ready Creek Agreement that made Disney a self governing organization within the state.

How could this be? Well the 1st cause of this was the bubble. That’s one of the few advantages of being a conservative Catholic living in one of only four states that give Joe Biden a positive approval rating. You can’t insulate yourself things that are right in front of your face.

Alas for Disney this is not the case for their board. They live in the liberal, twitter LGBTQ bubble and within that bubble the rules are very strict and if you don’t jump when you are told you risk being pushed out of your comfortable space within said bubble.

So when the left decided that they could not abide 5-8 year olds not having Queer theory pushed on them and dubbed Florida’s law on waiting until at least age 9 before such things were taught to kids they framed their narrative in such a way that CEO  Bob Chapek feared retaliation for saying nothing:

Mind you he didn’t fear retaliation from stockholders or customers, nor did he fear retaliation from employees or the people of Florida who MSNBC contributors not withstanding both supported the bill in question (a full 58% of Florida democrats did) no he feared personal retaliation and being others within his own social group.

But in the end no matter how bad it gets for Disney shareholders, no matter how much things tank, no matter how much it costs the company and or their employees, Bob will know that the people who matter, the leftist elites will still invite him to the right parties.

And for leftists and those who fear them who live in the land of the bubble that’s what really counts.
