Today’s First Reading at Mass was Abraham asking God if he would spare Sodom & Gomorra if he could find at least 50, then 45, then 30 and finally 10 people and God answering

“For the sake of those ten I will not destroy it.”

With the mass migration of normal people from blue states and areas I have a sinking feeling that cities like San Francisco, Chicago, Baltimore, NYC and DC have a bureaucrat whose job it is to make sure that the population of actual faithful Catholics living in the city limits never falls below ten.

I suspect this job has become more vital over time

A Town in North Carolina police force has resigned en masse over a new city manager citing a “hostile work environment”

The new town manager has a history of employment in liberal cities and I suspect brought a lot of that with her to this town in NC, but I suspect the new woke agenda isn’t playing here:

“It is with a heavy heart that I take this action. I have been with the town since 2004 and fully expected to finish my law enforcement career with the Town of Kenly. Unfortunately, there are decisions being made that jeopardize my safety and make me question what the future will hold for a Kenly Police Officer,” wrote officer G.W. Strong.

There are a lot of liberal cities bleeding police and heading to departments big and small in Red States. I suspect none of those police will be heading to Kenly North Carolina.

If I’m a thief or gang member from Raleigh or Goldsboro I’d be planning on an excursion to Kenly in a couple of weeks as there will likely be easy pickings, but if you want your small town to become more “progressive” you can’t do it without cost.

I noted that Glenn Reynolds in his linkage of a Johnathan Turley piece on the latest from the Jan 6th committee ended with this comment:

Also, if things keep going the way they’re going, the January 6 “insurrectionists” will ultimately be looked back upon as martyrs who tried to prevent a tragedy.

All of what has happened has been due to cowardice. The unwillingness to bluntly state that there were shenanigans in the last election that the establishment left and their allies in the judiciary in the blue states and regions they took place in were unwilling to call out in fear of rocking the boat has had huge consequences for this country and caused incredible pain to hundreds of millions of people.

I shudder to think what the result will be when they try this again in 2024, I suspect the result will not be as peaceful.

I really can’t do better than Stacy McCain in his takedown of Edenborough University over them cancelling David Hume (d 1776) for not being sufficiently woke by 21st century standards:

defaming the dead is easy work. Hume was a man of formidable skill in argumentation, and if anyone at the time had found fault with this footnote in his essay, certainly Hume would have been capable of defending himself. As it was, of course, no one in 18th-century Europe had any reason to question Hume’s judgment on this matter. How many avid believers in racial equality were there in England in 1758? Few, if any, I’m sure, and probably they had more important matters to deal with than accosting a Scottish philosopher about a footnote.

Really, why was this deemed important enough to rename a building at the University of Edinburgh? Is it any wonder that donors are canceling their bequests? What a silly tempest in a teapot — “Ban the dead racist David Hume!” — yet the Eminent Scholars in charge of a university evidently took it seriously.

Well they likely didn’t need those 2 million pounds of bequests cancelled so far anyways did they.

The media keeps breathlessly going on about Monkey Pox however they have not yet been able to report on what for them would be the holy grail for Monkey Pox. An outbreak among monogamous straight people.

Put simply for all the hysteria concerning Monkeypox if you want to avoid the disease here is the secret:

Cheney 2024? She’d be Running for the Cash & Status

I don’t understand the confusion about a possible Liz Cheney run for the GOP nomination for President.

But on what planet does Cheney think she would seriously have a shot at the nomination in 2024? She could obviously try to run as an independent and wind up on the back page like almost everyone else who has tried it. But to run as a Republican, she would have to win primaries in a lot of states where Donald Trump remains very popular, including her home state. Not every Republican voter is a Trump fan, it’s true. And there are still many who probably wish he would stay on the sidelines and let the party move on without the constant circus atmosphere that Trump always generates. But that doesn’t mean that they want to see him being trashed by Cheney in prime time every night on CNN.

The mistake here is the thought that she actually thinks she could win the nomination or that getting elected would be her goal.

The reality is that money would flow to from the left to her campaign, because her every appearance would be trashing Donald Trump. She would be constantly on TV not as a former congresswoman but as a former GOP presidential candidate. Furthermore those campaign funds can be used to enrich herself and or others to allow her influence.

Cheney likely has decades of life ahead of her, and apparently wants to delay her comfortable retirement as a person wealth but no influence for as long as possible. Once she is of no further use to the left she will discarded as all useful idiots are for the left who will not forgive her for opposing abortion and of course she will not be welcome on the right either.

So a 2024 Stop Trump campaign will be the best shot to delay that decent into irrelevance at least till she hits 60

John Cleese being interviewed by the Babylon Bee was good, but I have to give the Keven Downey Jr the nod for the best bit about what the left has become:

The dirty little secret is that is that I suspect they have actually always been the Red Guards or at least the Red Guards wanna bees but never felt safe enough to be open about it, not even to potential allies in Hollywood back in the day.

Bogart, much like his Hollywood persona, was a mercurial fellow. You didn’t backstab Bogie. Already a loose fuse, he grew redder and redder as the facts on Hollywood’s communists rolled in, and then he detonated. “You [expletive, plural] sold me out!” he yelled at Danny Kaye.

Reminder to National Review, Trump Predicted All the Results of a Biden Administration before the election

I have a son who is discerning a vocation as a religious brother and in pondering it I found myself re-reading the book of Samuel.

At one point in the book of Samuel the people of Israel demand a king to rule over them and God tell him to grant this but before you do warn them what it will mean and as the Lord commanded Samuel tells them:

Samuel delivered the message of the LORD in full to those who were asking him for a king.

He told them: “The rights of the king who will rule you will be as follows: He will take your sons and assign them to his chariots and horses, and they will run before his chariot.

He will also appoint from among them his commanders of groups of a thousand and of a hundred soldiers. He will set them to do his plowing and his harvesting, and to make his implements of war and the equipment of his chariots.

He will use your daughters as ointment-makers, as cooks, and as bakers.

He will take the best of your fields, vineyards, and olive groves, and give them to his officials.

He will tithe your crops and your vineyards, and give the revenue to his eunuchs and his slaves.

He will take your male and female servants, as well as your best oxen and your asses, and use them to do his work.

He will tithe your flocks and you yourselves will become his slaves.

When this takes place, you will complain against the king whom you have chosen, but on that day the LORD will not answer you.”

1 Samuel 8:9-18

That instantly came to mind when I saw this:

The reason this reminds me of that passage from Samuel is that the results of a Biden Presidency was not only predictable but were directly predicted by Donald Trump. One example:

This is of course just one example. He predicted the crash of 401K’s gas prices, failures abroad, etc etc etc but this is just one post

This is why btw the left and the media and big tech are so big on censoring content, the truth of these failures are so self evident that even the NeverTrumptm Principled ConservativeTm are acknowledging them.

That being said you can be sure of three things:

  1. Every single one of those folks would not trade their vote for Biden for a Trump vote in 2020
  2. In a 2024 rematch between Trump and Biden they will remain all in on Biden
  3. If the GOP nominates someone other than Donald Trump whoever it is whether it be Ron DeSantis, Ted Cruz, Kristi Noem or even a Prune Danish they will decide that said person or pastry is even worse than Donald Trump

In fact the media’s acknowledgement of these failures is only in the hopes of replacing the no longer useful idiot in the White House with a useful one.

But be aware that all of these failures and all of these pains are a direct result of the willingness confront the reality of a stolen election and like the Democrat cities that are unwilling to confront the realities of gangs and the Israelites who were unwilling to heed the warning of Samuel we shall continue to pay the price.
