Why the Left is so Willing to Shatter Norms of Courtesy, Trust Decent Behavior and Fair Play in One Sentence

Yesterday we got a verdict in the RaDonda Vaught case, a case that, in my opinion should never have been prosecuted. The Judge sentenced her to the minimum allowed 3 years but also under Tennessee law was able to, due to mitigating factors give her instead three years supervised probation after which the case is revisited and if the now former Nurse who accidently gave the wrong drug to a patient causes no offense will no longer face imprisonment.
The real story from this case comes from the Judge Jennifer Smith’s speech during sentencing in reply to the prosecution who clamed that the legislature meant to not allow “diversion” (that is reducing the sentence due to circumstances) which said in part:
This court does not have the authority to look beyond the plain language of the statute.
That there are still judges who base their ruling on what laws say rather than on what people want them to say is a really hopeful sign. The sad think is that we’re reached a point where a judge doing this is really something.
The real travesty of this case is that when Vaught realized the error she immediately reported it but Vanderbilt university hospital covered it up and only came clean after their Medicare money was in jeopardy. They were very happy to make her take the fall on something that was a pure accident.
Nurses haven’t taken kindly to this:
I would not want to be the person in charge of recruiting nurses at Vanderbilt.
The real problem here is the making of a criminal case of a medical mistake. The DA thought to score brownie points in bringing this case forward and it has, at least for the moment paid off politically as he’s won his primary and is unopposed for re-election.
But what nurse in Tennessee is going to do what Vaught did and immediately report an error when such a move might result in a criminal record and jail time? I suspect not many.
This is going to cost lives.
None of this changes the fact that a 75 year old woman is dead who might have been alive otherwise. I must say that while I think this case is rotten and they deserved the settlement that Vanderbilt gave them which stipulates they may not discuss the death.
That there is no prosecution of the Hospital speaks volumes, either way if the family is pissed over this I can’t blame them. I know if it was my wife it would take a lot of effort to turn off the Sicilian desire for blood and replace it which the Christian Virtue of forgiveness.
This case really united Nurses around the country. I suspect every single one of them sees this cases and says “There but for the grace of God go I.
Given the shortage of Nurses overall (not helped any by the firings due to the vaccine mandates) Nurses have a huge amount of leverage if they choose to exercise it. It’s practically an army and where it marches healthcare will go.
Oh and if these figures are right those fired unvaccinated nurses will be able to name their own return price in a few years too.
Media Matters and the White House: Laugh and Laugh again at these clowns
Posted: May 13, 2022 by datechguy in News/opinionTags: dishonest left, dishonorable left
Today has been a pain of a day as my plans were dramatically changed due to vaccine mandates at a Massachusetts state college (surprise, surprise) but fortunately there have been a few things to laugh about to make things better.
First the folks at Media Matters the single biggest dispenser of falsehoods in the media world are calling for the firing of the fact checker for the Washington Post:
Now in fairness given the overall accuracy of the Washington Post fact checker this would not be an unreasonable request except for that he is upset because he actually accurately checked a fact.
In fact that’s a bit of an exaggeration.
When it was originally reported by the Free Beacon that the White House safe smoking kits included crack pipes he dismissed it as relying on “assumptions”. So when the Free Beacon went out and got some of those kits distributed in several cities and displayed said kits for the world to see
, which indeed had crack pipes included, rather than correcting his original article, he simply retweeted the free Beacon piece.
No correction no retraction, just retweeting the actual fact that proved him wrong.
But even that small act was a bridge too far for media matters. Communicating actual facts that show the left for what they are isn’t what Soros and company are paying for.
Do otherwise and you’re an un-person.
The second clown to laugh at is Joe Biden and his White House that put out this tweet yesterday:
the only problem of course is that the vaccine was available when Trump was still president. Here comes the Washington Post Fact checker again…
In fact you have multiple Biden and “office of the president elect” releases on the subject.
These fools need to be pointed to and laughed at but the real joke is on us for letting these people get away with stealing an election. So in one sense the clowns are us.
Closing thought: I predict that in five years when the true side effects of the vaccine can’t be so easily hidden the media will be rushing to call it the “Trump Vaccine”.
Five Thoughts Under the Fedora: Brought to you by Pfizer, Jason Who?, Invisible Black Women, Unnewsworthy Gay Men and a Coincidence too Far
Posted: May 12, 2022 by datechguy in under the fedoraI’m old enough that I still listen to the radio when I drive and suddenly there are ads playing regularly warning of the signs of clots that can become aneurisms that I had never heard before.
All this ads are brought to you by Pfizer.
A coincidence I’m sure.
I was on my lunch break during the 4th quarter of gave five of the Bucks and Celtics game where the Bucks after being down as much as 12 in the 4th came back to tie it with under a minute to go and then win it when they got a rebound off a missed free throw and put it in and then stole the ball from the Celtics.
Over the last 3+ Minutes there was one name I didn’t hear during those last three minutes: Jason Tatum.
We’ve been hearing for weeks that he should be considered a superstar yet for some reason he didn’t touch the ball.
Just a coincidence I’m sure.
With a week to go before the Pennsylvania primary a GOP candidate who is surging to the point that she might pass the Trump endorsed Doctor Oz suddenly had her Wikipedia page taken down.
Wikipedia claims that she is not notable enough. Commenting on the matter she said:
Barnette posted a photo of her deleted page on Twitter with the caption, “When they cancel me, they’re cancelling you. Wikipedia just pulled my page down with a week left to go in the election.”
You would think they would promote a candidate different from whoever Trump endorsed however it seems that she would not only be the first black woman to serve in the senate from Pennsylvania but a big part of her story is that she was conceived in rape and her mother choose not to abort.
Yet apparently that’s not good enough to be noted. You would think cancelling a black woman would be consider beyond the pale these days but it’s apparently not.
Again another coincidence.
Speaking on something you don’t see every day a politics site in Florida broke the story of a sexual harassments scandal of a rising political star accused of sexual harassment, and then encouraged people not to report on it or bother the candidate about it. As Don Surber put it:
While it broke the story, Florida Politics asked others to go easy on Alexander. A confederacy of dunces followed and the rest of the media in Florida largely ignored the story.
The Tallahassee Democrat, the only newspaper to report on it, hid its story behind its subscribers only paywall.
For the record the “rising star” Ramon Alexander a married father of two, is both a Democrat and is being accused of harassments by a man who Alexander claims he had a “consensual sexual relationship” with.
Boy the coincidences are just pouring down today aren’t they?
Finally yet another associate of Bill Clinton, Mark Meadows has died at the relatively young age of 59.
Given the spate of sudden deaths since the vaccine one might say “coincidence” here but for this paragraph in the Daily Mail story:
One of Bill Clinton’s former special advisors who helped cement his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein has died at the age of 59, becoming the latest associate of the former President to die young. Mark Middleton’s family said that he passed away on Saturday in a statement which did not reveal the cause of death. (snip) During that time Middleton admitted Epstein to the Clinton White House on seven of the at least 17 times the late pedophile visited. Middleton also flew on Epstein’s plane and appears to have acted as a conduit between the two men.
I’d close with a sly line about coincidence but I don’t think there is anybody left who would by it in this case.
