Archive for the ‘blogger for hire’ Category

First of all thanks to everyone who checked out my examiner articles it’s makes a different and covers a bill or two.

Second I’m no longer going to be keeping the running totals at the top of the blog, I’m just going to put up say 3 posts a week like this one to let you know what’s happening on the Pa-12, Ga-4 front. So here goes…

On the Pa-12 front I have seen absolutely no interest from people. In terms of contributions I’ve picked up nearly…nearly 1. So I am still $440 away from spending my birthday watching Tim Burns win in Pa. UPDATE $390 to go now He sure will with ads like this:

If you think Stacy & Roxeanne are right hit DaTipJar and help get me down there. Maybe I can even talk Roxeanne into coming too. (specify Pa-12 in comments). The clock is really ticking fast on this one. For every extra $150 over the amount over the $440 I’ll stay an extra day (Roxeanne permitting).

As for the Atlanta trip. My pal Vinnie has offered to put me up so lets call that worth $250. That leaves me $880 to go, the one problem is the closer I get to the travel date the more the price can change. If you want to kick in toward that one again hit DaTipJar and put Ga-4 in comments.

I’ll put up about 3 of these updates a week for now. On June 1st I’m going to go all out to find out just how much I’m worth compared to Andrew Sullivan. Stay tuned.

Update: The Call for help in Pa-12 is sounded by Robert Stacy, can you help me get there to see it?

My latest article for the Examiner A Tale of Two Groups is now online. It is a comparison of two different Boston protests a peek:

One group saluted troops, bringing a Gold Star Mother on stage.

The other wrapped people in trash bags representing body bags and protested in front of a military recruitment center.

Read the whole thing and if you’ve missed any of my previous Examiner articles you can find them here. Remember every click on these articles has the effect of a few cents to DaTipJar, so share them with your friends, in fact share them with your enemies maybe they’ll become friends.

Stacy McCain continues to beat the Bushes to find the details in Pa-12 and some of these seem to be familiar:

While I was at Burns campaign HQ Friday, I interviewed a registered Democrat from Fayette County who stopped by the office to pick up a yard sign. This was a blue-collar working man who had voted for Murtha in the past, but who has no use at all for the agenda currently being pushed by Obama and Nancy Pelosi.

Again we have a situation where a district was comfortable with a longtime member of congress and perhaps looking the other way on certain things because he brought home the bacon and had power, but now that he’s gone people will now vote their own interest.

Where have I seen this before?

I was kinda busy this weekend so I missed Robert Stacy’s & Roxeanne’s suggestion concerning PA 12.

I don’t mind doing the drive down there although the election is on my Birthday so the family might be a tad annoyed, but if the time to panic is at hand any kind of thing that generates income is welcome.

So if you want to the DaTipJar to send me to PA 12, that’s great. (Specify PA-12 in the comment) Stacy’s calculations leave out any kind of Hotel or place to sleep but we are talking 10 hours down and ten hours back. Assuming I can get a cheap hotel for $50 a night. If I can Get $500 by the end of the week to DaTipJar then I’ll head down. If by the 8th I have said $500 I’ll pick a day to head there. For every extra $250 a day that comes in I’ll add an extra day. (That covers hotel plus my fee).

It’s all up to you guys. Should I stay or should I go, or to put it another way: Is what I do here worth it to you? Excitable Andrew actually managed to raise $80k a year to blog independently from his readers before he got his Atlantic gig. What would this on site reporting be worth to you?

Just called in my unemployment and was informed I had no more weeks left. This seems to contradict what I was told back in January. Monday I will be running to the unemployment office to find out for sure. If this turns out to be correct then to say I’m in huge trouble is an understatement. I’ll cut what I can from the budget (there isn’t much left to cut) but from this point we start burning savings and selling off stuff.

The examiner gig so far has paid about $30 a week based on hits. That leaves $510 weekly to try to make up for Unemployment or $770 to make up from my old pay.

I’ll of course keep up my various plans that I’m trying to put into place but unless anyone is dying to hire a blogger/writer at once it’s pretty much going to be come hermit time or massive telethon time a-la Andrew Sullivan before he got his Atlantic gig. And of course anything I can grab I will but I don’t know how much George Bailey I have in me.
