Some have objected to the award to president Obama because he doesn’t have achievements to back things up.

Lets take a look at the Nobel statement:

Oct 9, 2009 Olso:

“Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future.”

Hope for the future, well we have seen this before:

Jan, 3 BC. Jerusalem

“Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in sight of all the peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.” (Luke 2:29-32)

Maybe Andrew Klavan was right.

I don’t know what is worse, the idea that a series of colored blocks is considered art or that someone decided it was worth copying?

I don’t see how this is worth a lot of debate but lets talk some basic facts:

1. Yes this is a copy of the first picture

2. The reason this is not brought up in polite company is the same reason why Professor Mary Lefkowitz needed to be attacked for her two books. Amazon reviews here and here.

3. The people who cry Racism at that suggestion are not to be taken seriously by intelligent people.

4. There is nothing insidious in the White House displaying this picture or putting it up to be seen

I think it is an indication of bad taste more than anything else, but the point of any kind of “art” is. “Does the person who possess is or view it like it?”

If you like it than who cares what anyone else says about these things?

Personally compare this:

Watusil escargot

With this

La Donna Velata

Just because I recently reviewed a book on Art history it doesn’t make me an expert but I’d take the 2nd over the first two combined.

In fact I’d take either of these two over the first pair:

Brave and bold 124

Warlord 3 grell

I don’t know art but I know what I like.

From Kos to Talk Left to the American Spectator to Too conservative.

Then again if the turns it down to the terrorists win?

Yourish thinks he won’t

And the truly frightening thing is: I’m betting Obama thinks he deserves it.

Lets see what the president says….I’ll liveblog his speech.

They keep stalling and stalling bringing him out. Maybe he will turn it down. If he does it will be the most presidential thing he has done yet.

Update:
Here he comes…

“This isn’t how I expected to wake up this morning.”

I guess not

“I don’t view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments”

Ya Think?

“This prize reflects the kind of world we want to build.”
And what kind is that?

“I will accept this award as a call to action.”

To do what?

Apparently this is a mandate on Climate Change and nuclear disarmament.

“We can’t accept a world where people are denied opportunity”

Are we going to see an international stimulus plan?

“This award must be shared with everyone who strives for justice and dignity.”

Well it should have been shared with SOMEONE!

I think this is a real screwtape moment concerning reality.

Yourish wins!

via the Politico:

“This fully exposes the illusion that is Barack Obama,” Limbaugh told POLITICO in an e-mail. “And with this ‘award’ the elites of the world are urging Obama, THE MAN OF PEACE, to not do the surge in Afghanistan, not take action against Iran and its nuclear program and to basically continue his intentions to emasculate the United States.”

Limbaugh continued: “They love a weakened, neutered U.S and this is their way of promoting that concept. I think God has a great sense of humor, too.”

The world is a very strange place.

Update: The DNC thinks it sees an opening:

“The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists – the Taliban and Hamas this morning – in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize,”

I’m not making this up.
