This is evil

As you should have figured out by now, I don’t believe in “Gay Marriage” (thus the quotes). I think it like a lot of the cultural excesses of today are massive exercises in narcissism. As a Roman Catholic it would also be considered sinful.

That being said appalling is not a strong enough word for this:

Unfortunately, the Iraqi government is neck-deep in the gay butchery themselves. Interior Ministry police hunt down gays in Baghdad, raid parties, hunt them online by using fake foreign IP addresses (as Iran does), then tortures and exterminates them in the worst possible ways. Just as Iraqi Spiritual Leader Ali al-Sistani declared they should be, in his 2006 fatwa of death against Iraqi LGBTs. Though removed from his website after controversy, the fatwa is still in full effect.

Allow me at this point to question the spirituality of a religious leader favoring any pogrom, or stating that ANYONE should die in the ‘worst possible ways’.

Here is one former Mahdi Army member who now makes a career of being a gay death squad ’surgeon,’ cutting out the cancer of homosexuality the Americans brought with them to Iraq. His words, not mine. Also, one particularly subhuman technique of killing gays, now quite popular with Iraq’s most pious Shiite extremists, is to super-glue a gay man’s anus shut, pump him full of a diarrhea-inducing compound, and have a few laughs as the victim suffers unbelievable agony before dying. The Iraqi tribes also now have carte blanche to exterminate any Iraqi LGBTs they find.

Job one is Iraq is of course the defeat of any Al Qaeda elements that could threaten either Iraq or the US. The author forgets this, eyes on the prize and all. Still it is our responsibility to do all we can to stop this slaughter and we can actually do quite a bit. To hold the Iraqi’s to a lesser standard would be a bigoted action against them as if they were not civilized enough to know better.

The question is what will the administration do? It is incumbent on us to ask the question.

I must confess to my shame that I had absolutely no idea this was going on in Iraq. With knowledge comes responsibility to speak. So I’m speaking but Mr Simpson gets credit for speaking first.

I’m not much for Gay rallies but if I lived in San Francisco I’d attend the rally of the 17th. If you are in the area you should too. As Americans and as Catholic we need to speak against this evil

And a quick suggestion to our friends on the left. If you want people on the right to attend and support said rally keep it a rally in support of LGBT’s in Iraq and not a rally either against the war or against Christianity or against prop 8. We can argue about those things when people aren’t being slaughtered for their sexual sins.

And in case you are a person who says good riddance, as the moral argument won’t work with you let me make the practical one: If a society can slaughter people over sin, you’d better hope that said society doesn’t decide to make your perceived sins capital ones.

The Pope walks

You know everything the Pope does gets worldwide attention. When he lifted the excommunication on the St. Pius X society “bishops” the press took the opportunity to jump on him as an anti-Semite. I wonder what they will say after today:

Taking the podium after the pope without being on the original list of speakers scheduled for the evening, Tamimi, speaking at length in Arabic, accused Israel of murdering women and children in Gaza and making Palestinians refugees, and declared Jerusalem the eternal Palestinian capital.

Following the diatribe and before the meeting was officially over, the pope exited the premises.

Apparently a few years ago the guy tried the same thing with John Paul II.

Damian Thompson comments:

I reckon the Holy Father responded appropriately. He didn’t precipitate a diplomatic incident by refusing to shake the speaker’s hand, but by leaving before the meeting was over he made it absolutely plain that the Vatican does not take sides in the Israel-Palestine dispute.

The American Papist comments and notes a parallel:

Pope Benedict is a model of Catholic dialogue. Evidently there are some cases of “dialogue” that are actually “false dialogue”. If Pope Benedict is willing to walk out of a dialogue he sees as unfruitful and even harmful, what should that tell us about avoiding situations of dialogue that contradict our Catholic principles?

Oh and PS … the “Notre Dame Center”?!

Nothing yet from Atlas or Yourish but Isreallycool has coverage of the trip and reveals that apparently the pope can’t please anyone, certainly not the former chief Rabbi of Israel:

“A few points were missing in the pope’s address,” said Lau. “There was no mention of the Germans, or Nazis, who carried out the massacre. There was not a word of sharing the grief or of compassion or pain for the six million victims.”

“Instead of the word ‘murdered,’ as the previous pope John Paul II used,” Lau continued, Benedict XVI used the word ‘killed.’ There is a very clear difference between the two verbs,” the former chief rabbi stressed.

What was the Pope expecting? Hasn’t he read the Quran? This was pious speech! As if these savages were capable of “peace” — it is an anathema to islamic doctrine. They will never accept a Jewish state.

It’s not a question of what do you expect. The pope since he is the pope is going to treat everyone he meets with Christian love and respect. It’s up to that person to earn it. This one didn’t.

The other McCain throws a shot at LGF:

Some forums are complaining that the pope didn’t leave in the middle of the speech. Some are complaining that he shook the sheikh’s hand on the way out. I say give the Holy Father props for maintaining the absolute minimum diplomatic courtesy to a very discourteous person and then absenting himself from this evil. I say give him some props for appearing to be the last man on the international stage with some both dignity and moxie.

I don’t take issue with Don Suber often

but I have to disagree with one thing he says here…

If they did not want him to win, they should have quit.

And they should have told the mainstream press.

They are lower than low — meaning below John Edwards.

First of all the mainstream media KNEW about this stuff and didn’t release it so telling them means nothing.

Second if they quit and said something they would have been “disgruntled former employees”

Third of all I think they were telling ole George a line. This is a variant of the we all belonged to the resistance bit. Years later safely out of the way they are trying to protect their own reps. I see Hot air agrees.

Fourthly they even if they are telling the truth (lucky for me I wasn’t drinking what I typed that) they are exactly what John Edwards AND HIS WIFE deserved.

As Mickey Kaus point out all of them including John and Elizabeth Edwards were willing to publicly destroy the reputation of Andrew Young (not the mayor):

You say Hunter had no right to disrupt your marriage. “Women need to have respect for other women.” But during the campaign an aide and friend of John Edwards, Andrew Young, stepped up and claimed paternity of Hunter’s child. Andrew Young has a wife. How do you think she feels about this? How do her children feel about it, and what other kids say about it, when they go to school? Do you really not care if she’s going through whatever she’s going through because she’s playing her part in a lie constructed in service to your husband’s, and your, unstoppable ambition? How are you respecting her and her marriage?

Elizabeth Edwards gets sympathy for her cancer, it’s something we an all relate to, but liars and phonies get cancer too.

These people played the public, Elizabeth Edwards in her desire to see her husband be president was an accomplice and is STILL playing the public for the same reasons to get John ahead.

People call Elizabeth Edwards a victim, I call her a misogynist. She used her sex to manipulate people particularly women to support her husband. Now she is manipulating women and the grand poo bah of women the Oprah to sell books and to sell her husband for her own ends.

If that’s not misogyny I’d like to know what is.

This is one of the least charitable posts I’ve written that didn’t involve murderous Islamic barbarians. I should likely be more forgiving as befits a Catholic but this really gets my goat.

Morning Joe All Hail comedian Obama

It’s a love fest!

6:40 “It’s like a bunch of teenagers at a Bay City rollers concert.” That line dates Joe, and my understanding of it dates me.

6:46 It seems to be all about how wonderful it is that the “Black” Obama family is in there.

…not since Don Imus roughed up Bill Clinton at the annual event has a comedian been so mean-spirited…But, unlike Imus or Colbert, Wanda Sykes didn’t lay a glove on the sitting president Barack Obama. Instead, she reserved her barbs for people who weren’t there: Dubya, John McCain, Dick Cheney, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity… But even watching the WHCA dinner on television, viewers saw the room grew very quiet and then erupt as Sykes seemed to cross the line with what was more harsh partisanship than funny comedy. At one point, the C-SPAN cameras caught Fox News commentator Glenn Beck sitting stone-faced after Sykes had singled out one conservative after another for her insults. Even Obama seemed to look uncomfortable at times.

The Tim Geithner line was classic.

6:55 a.m. The sports news was all good. Celtics, Bruins and Red Sox. Big Baby gets a line.

6:58 a.m. The swine flu line is pretty good, so is the Air Force one line. Although Althouse has a point.

7:00 a.m. The person of color joke was an inside one but Donny is right he could have said the cat sat on the mat and the media would have loved him.

7:07 a.m. I already commented on the fact that stopping in ’91 was a huge mistake. Joe in on record disagreeing.

7:09 a.m. Dick Cheney believes what he is saying says Joe. BBC’s finest thinks it is setting them up if they fail.

7:11 a.m. When it comes to getting info from these guys, we’re out of business.

7:14 a.m. Oh joy another comission.

7:18 a.m. To paraphrase Glenn Reynolds, Wanda; Rush Craps a whole lot bigger than you.

7:20 a.m. Of course it won’t be trouble for them, with this media? She could have said cut off all their heads and they would have applauded.

7:26 a.m. The media is a difficult crowd for Barak Obama? Tim Russert would have never been able to say that line with a straight face David.

7:31 a.m. He only won by 7 points. That should be said every time he is mentioned.

8:11 a.m. Chris Matthews actually hits the nail on the head with his point. If you are in a situation where life and death is on the line you do what you have to do, but once you change the rule book the line will move.

8:16 a.m. Al Hunt defending Dick Cheney, and he believes that he is acting in what he thinks was right.

8:18 a.m. Donny: “If this was Sept 12th they would be calling for steak knifes.” (Maria is Italian, I suspect that she has a very tough line quietly, at least that’s what I see in her eyes)

8:24 a.m. Hey Cheney is was more loyal to Powel than Powel was to McCain.

8:28 a.m. 13th century my a**.

8:30 a.m. Maria gets it. She is willing actually to challenge this administration.

8:37 a.m. The money is slow coming out. She says confusion and poor (not mis) management. I think it is by design.

8:46 a.m. Maria is asking the question and making the statements that people are not saying.

8:48 a.m. The congressman job for life business. Maria shoots them down. I LIKE this woman.

8:54 a.m. Hollywood certainly had a good time.

8:58 a.m. Mika seem the type that could cook.
