It has been many decades since actual civics was taught is schools here in the United States.  Instead, school students were taught social studies, which is nothing more than a watered-down Marxist indoctrination scheme.  This was done to make Americans far more malleable.  If Americans are ignorant about the true nature of the United States Constitution, it is far easier to strip away their rights, and we are way less likely to stand up against a tyrannical government.  Today American students are taught a more insidious and despicable form of indoctrination.

Here are four Constitutional truths that have been erased so completely from school curriculums that even many conservatives are confused about.

1. Just because some individuals may “abuse” a right, it is absolutely wrong to strip that right away from everyone else.

At all levels, individuals are constantly prevented from doing things that they have every right to do.  The rational for this trampling of everyone’s rights is the claim that certain individuals may, or may not, do something wrong, or harmful, with a particular right.  That is a form of collective guilt.

Our constitutional system is founded on individual guilt.  Collective guilt goes against everything our nation was founded on.  Only those individuals who are guilty of a particular crime may be punished for that crime, and only after they have been found guilty in a court of law.

2. The Constitution only restrains the federal government and states.

The US Constitution does not reach down to individuals.  It is a document that only binds the hands of the federal government.  The Constitution also prevents the states from squabbling with each other.  Progressives have perverted the Constitution into an instrument that grants the federal government the authority to trample on the rights of every individual.

3. Supreme Court Precedents are nothing more that the opinions of Supreme Court Justices.

Supreme Court Precedents are treated as the supreme lay of the land.  They have been elevated above the plain text and meaning of the Constitution itself.  According to the Constitution, Supreme Court Precedents have absolutely no legal merit or weight at all because they are not mentioned in the Supremacy Clause, which is is Article 6 Section 2 of the Constitution.

4. The United States is a Constitutional Republic, not a Democracy.

Probably twenty times a day I hear or read some talking head state that the United States is a Democracy. That is absolutely false.  The Framers of the United States Constitution hated and feared the form of government known as a Democracy.   They knew that Democracies are nothing more than mob rule where the rights of individuals and minorities are trampled on by the majority.

In a Democracy the acts of Parliament are the Supreme Law of the land.  In our Constitutional Republic the Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land.  The rights and property of individuals are protected by the Constitution.

The Federal Government is divided into three distinct branches, which check and balance each other.  The Prime Minister and courts of Democracies are weak offshoots of Parliament.

Democracies are top down nations where provinces are just minor administrative districts.  The States here in the United States were meant to be mostly sovereign nations, tied together by a weak and limited federal government.

In a Democracy, Parliament wields the ultimate political authority.  In our constitutional republic, all political power rests in we the people.

Got my first oil bill for the season, it was for 60% of a tank but was higher than the bills for a full tank in years past.

That’s bad enough but thanks to the Biden peak the overtime that I usually get at this time of year that could have helped to pay these increased bills has turned into days off, in fact I was offered today off because volume is so down.

Nothing like getting the economy that you vote for.

Sports radio is all a flutter about where Tom Brady might land next year when his contract with Tampa Bay is over.

What’s most interesting about this conversation is it differs greatly from what we were hearing three years ago.

Back then a fair amount of sports writers were wondering aloud if Brady was worth a contract, if he might be too old or all done.

Now he is 45 and I’ve yet to hear a single person on the radio claim that a 45 year old Tom Brady is not worth signing.

The NHL has gone all in with the transgender mental illness (that’s what it is) and sponsored a game of transgender players playing each other.

Unfortunately biology doesn’t care about your mental illness so when one of the “woman” made a perfectly legal hit on one of the “men” that “man” ended up with a concussion.

There was a time when people were willing to speak up about this kind of thing and when sports organizations didn’t play these games but the watchword for the day is “cowardice”.

On that same subject let me give men who are looking for a potential wife some advice. Show your bride candidate this tweet:

The perfect “Should this woman be the mother of your children?” test.

If her reaction is anything other than revulsion then run like you were being chased by the very devil himself because you do not under any circumstances want a woman who approves of this to be the mother of your children.

In fact that’s a pretty solid rule on marriage, treat any potential spouse as auditioning for the role of mother or father of your children and if they don’t pass the audition drop them quickly.

Life is too short to waste on such people.

Finally just got the word that the South Side Grille and Margarita Factory will be Closing for good shortly. It along with Happy Jacks (formally the Boarder Grille) had been around long before I was married. I’d gone there before I had a family, after I had a family with my little kids for their magic shows and with my teenage and adult sons. We were so much a part of the place that one year they invited my family to the employee Christmas party.

They survived all that the world could throw at them for 35+ years but could not survive two years of the Joe Biden Presidency.

Elections have consequences and stolen elections even greater ones.

Saw episode 1 of the third season of the Chosen and was impressed, the sermon on the mount was really something in terms of delivery but for me the most memorable moment was the exchange between Nathanial and Simon Peter after Peter got home and was finally going to have some time alone with his wife.

On this feast of St Lucy (Our Lady of Guadalupe was yesterday my bad) it hit me that this is an excellent illustration of how to identify what is drama and what is scripture or in the tradition of the Church in the series using a simple web search

For example, if you do a search for “the sermon on the mount painting” in brave this is what you come up with under images:

…you will find pages of paintings of this moment from scripture all over, however if you do a search of “St. Peter wanting to bash in St. Nathanael’s head in with a rock painting”

Not a painting, let alone a renaissance master in sight.

I submit and suggest this is a pretty solid method to separate the Drama and the reality.

It still was pretty funny.

Update: Today is the feast of St. Lucy, Our Lady of Guadalupe was yesterday, my bad but the rule stands, if it’s a biblical or a church tradition odds are some Renaissance artist painted it.

SHREVEPORT – For the first time since 2006 Shreveport, Louisiana has elected a white Republican mayor. Attorney Tom Arceneaux was elected in a runoff election Saturday.

I am astounded yet also extremely cautious exactly HOW conservative this mayor-elect actually is given that he was endorsed by the much loathed, ineffective outgoing Democrat mayor and two other locally prominent Democrat politicians.

His opponent is longtime veteran state senator Greg Tarver who has a colorful political and personal history.

The abysmal voter turnout of 30% has a lot to do with the outcome of this election and local pundits point to the fact that in a primarily black city, those voters did not turn out for Greg Tarver.

Shreveport has been circling the drain economically for decades and we have been losing our young, producing citizens for decades. There is literally nothing to hold upwardly mobile young people here except family ties. There are no jobs, no industry. Even the casinos are stagnant. With Dallas, Texas three hours away why would these young people stay here when there is so much more on the table so close by?

Crime is, of course, at an all time high with shootings, murders, and other violent crime literally a daily occurrence.

This is, of course, not unique to Shreveport. Many cities, small and large, are suffering the same plight. Is a new Republican mayor a step in the right direction?

Meh. Who knows.

Is it too late?

Maybe.

Am I skeptical? Definitely!

Tom Arceneaux will take office December 31. I sincerely hope he has an impressive start and generates a lot of optimism and hope in this town. I would say that it can’t get much worse, but of course it always can.

Color me disillusioned.
