I have to disagree with this argument at PJ media on Pete Buttigieg on scripture. I think he understands scripture just as I think Andrew Sullivan understands scripture and Fr. James Martin does and the idea is the same.

He wants to remake scripture in general and God in particular in his own image in order to redefine sin because as I can tell you from personal experience it’s a hell of a lot easier to redefine sin to meet your behavior that to change your behavior to avoid sin.

One interesting thing about the Dave Chappelle special on Netflix is that there is a 2nd special that emphasis his close relationship with liberal icons.

Don’t think for one moment that it wasn’t included as insurance against cancel culture.

Didn’t work though.

I confess took too much pleasure from this story of a bunch of vegans getting beaten up by rabbit farmers when they tried to storm their locations and set their livestock free.

All I could think of was the famous scene from the Spencer Tracy move Captain’s Courageous that I’ve written about before when the wealthy brat whose been recused from the passenger liner that he fell overboard from keep disrupting the fishing schooner he’s on.

Troop finally concludes: “I guess there’s nothing left for it.” He rears back and gives Harvey a slap that knocks him flat. Harvey for perhaps for the first time in his life doesn’t know what to say:
You HIT me!
“Now you just sit there and think about it.”
It is here, with the establishment of discipline, that the movie begins to shift.

I suggest those vegans just sit there and think about it.

When will the left learn that no matter how loud they are they aren’t going to change the fact that the number of people who like the taste of Chick-fil-a vastly outnumber the woke who show up for die ins?

Each one of these protests get a lot of media but it keeps getting bigger and bigger. But there’s STILL not one in Fitchburg!

Finally speaking of food something just struck me about this story concerning an academic who suggests we can save the planet by eating each other (in a non-sexual way of course).

For several years we have been teasing the least about all the people who have supposedly died from Donald Trump’s tax cuts, his dropping out of the Paris accords, his court appointments etc etc etc and have sarcastically asked, if all these people have been killed by Trump where are the bodies?

Now we know.

Heathens aplenty right here

by baldilocks

I’m having one of those moments again. So I’ll do what I always do: point you to something interesting.

Man tries to save the souls of carcass-worshipers.

In a recent Facebook post, musician and investigative writer Daryl Davis described how he’s been treated by others and members of his own race [he’s black], from being called a “sellout” to every imaginable racial slur. Until this week….

Davis was part of a panel in Philadelphia aimed at reducing hatred and violence in the country. This included both right and left wing people who he states were successfully getting along. However, he says that Antifa members upset about the conference refused to join the party, accusing him of being a “white supremacist!”

Davis has been the subject of the documentary Accidental Courtesy: Daryl Davis, Race & America and a Ted Talk about his adventures. He’s traveled to over 50 countries and played music in 49 states as a professional blues musician.

For decades, he’s interacted with and interviewed people with opposing viewpoints. He has even convinced a couple hundred KKK members to disjoin. He’s interviewed members of all different hate and extremist groups, both black and white. His most famous story was about his relationship with Klan leaders and was the subject of his book, Klan-destine Relationships.

Read the whole thing and watch the videos.

And know this: there’s an element in these United States that has a vested interest in keep Americans of different races at each other’s throats. Those who hate this man for reaching out to his perceived enemies feed on anger, hatred and fear. They are addicted to it; if they could shoot it into their veins, they would.

Mr. Davis is a hero.

Stop making excuses for your kids diet

Ice Cream for Breakfast? Sure, why not, what could go wrong?

A few years back my family hosted a friend from a few commands back at our house for dinner. She brought her daughter with, and we had a simple dinner: pizza, salad, and brownies for dessert. Yes, not the healthiest thing in the world, but something that would please most people.

Apparently not. The daughter would not eat the pizza or dinner. She didn’t like the “texture” of those foods, and had been diagnosed with “Avoidant Food Intake Disorder.” If you didn’t know that was a thing, don’t feel bad, because I didn’t either.

She would eat the brownies though! And, apparently, according to her mom, whenever she didn’t want to eat something, she would simply eat ice cream instead. After they left, I pinched myself to make sure I wasn’t in some sort of weird dream world.

Today I read this article about a teenager in the UK going blind due to eating only “potato chips, sausage, French Fries and white bread” for almost a decade. Same diagnoses about “food textures.” No surprise in the outcome.

Look, parenting is hard. My first child did not want to eat dinner, and I don’t know how many times I had to send her to bed hungry, with all the screaming, wailing and gnashing of teeth that accompanied it, until she broke and ate dinner like a normal person. It sucked. But, it was important, because now my kids eat a balanced diet and will at least try new foods when we travel. It’s far more enjoyable to take them places and know I have almost unlimited dining options.

Rather than sucking it up and just doing the job, parents seem inclined to find a medical diagnosis to make up for their lack of parenting. Whether its food textures, food neophobia, fear of going down the playground slide, requirement for a service turkey, or some thing I simply can’t imagine right now, it boils down to having an excuse.

Now, that fear of food texture might be totally real. I won’t deny that. But it doesn’t matter. If you want to live in this world, you need to learn how to eat a balanced diet, or expect to suffer and die young. Providing excuses won’t make up for the nutrition your body needs.
