Robert Stacy, Michelle and oh just look at memeorandum thread and start clicking if you want details and it is all over it.

What I have to say is indirect commentary, much less important than the actual act but very telling…

In the first hour or so of Morning Joe today Mika was simply giddy with the idea that Mike Huckabee said on camera that he will likely not run since he doesn’t have the support of the base, she snidely talked about him not passing the “purity test” of the GOP and stressed it as an insult.

At this point Joe and Willie brought up events in Seattle and the fact that the killer was released by Mike Huckabee’s and will become his Willie Horton Moment.

You should have seen Mika’s face, it twisted and changed as if someone had run over her puppy. However later in the show the subject of “purity tests” came up again without the Huckabee connection and she was herself again.

Although the blindsiding of Mika, famous for wanting to deal with “hard news” was funny the real story was the fact that Joe and Willie knew all about what was going on in Seattle and it wasn’t making the news, the Houston Chronicle headline was shown but no further discussion.

Was it due to the race of the subject? Was it because it was concerning a released felon? I think it is because it has no bearing on their media template or ability to hit conservatives in general. It can only hurt Huck and they perfer Huck after all he is very beatable, even by Obama.

Today they briefly mentioned ACORN wanting to change it’s name, the dumping of documents? Not a word.

This is really about the News selection, the people at ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN et/al they KNOW about these stories, (Charlie Gibson not withstanding) and they choose to pretend otherwise or are ordered by their bosses to do so.

They are some of the best of the media’s coffee clatch crowd but are still part of that crowd and want to stay there. There is only so far off the reservation you can go and still be welcome at the parties and get the attention for the shows. That is the tightrope that they choose to walk. Re-admittance to that crowd was Andrew Sullivan’s reward for his change, would he be a regular on Chris Matthews’ show without it?

That’s why Sarah Palin drives them all nuts, she believes what she believes and you can take it or leave it , same with Rush he believes what he believes and doesn’t care what others think about it. They refuse to let others define them. It is a threat to the entire world view of the media culture.

I think their Radio show is going to be interesting, what will they choose to cover?

Note as I’m finishing this post there is 30 min to go in the show and they have hinted they will touch the topic again. Lets see…

Update: Nope Joe didn’t cover it but other liberal outlets are. The Huffpo commentators in particular see Huck’s Christianity and are charging like bulls toward a red cloth.

Meanwhile the Washington post says what I just did:

In a new Washington Post poll, Palin beats other GOP leaders on two questions: who best represents the party’s core values, and who Republicans would vote for if the presidential nomination battle were held today. But she has particular appeal to the loyal followers of Limbaugh and Beck, two of the most popular conservative talk show hosts in the country.

As long as she is unafraid her foes will be.

Commentator BSR defends Mike Huckabee non-endorsement of Hoffman in comments and links to this post. It is worth quoting:

If Huckabee agrees so much with Hoffman, the conservative bloggers wail, why doesn’t he officially endorse him?

I answer that question with a question of my own. Would these same bloggers be asking that question if it were a Democratic candidate that was the more conservative in this race?

No. They wouldn’t.

Mike Huckabee is the leading contender for the 2012 Republican party nomination. If he officially endorsed a non-Republican candidate he would be running counter to his party – indeed some would say such action serves to legitimize and strengthen a rival party – and you can bet your next paycheck he’d be hearing about it in 2012.

It’s not Huckabee’s fault the party can’t field a respectable candidate in New York. Furthermore, Huckabee is a man of the people who is fully aware that his personal opinion is plenty (heck, it may even be better) to help voters make a decision.

So, the story remains, Mike Huckabee didn’t endorse a non-Republican.

Not a bad point if want to stay in good with the party, Mitt Romney for example is staying out of it, but the party is less popular than conservatism. There is a much better point to be made that my fellow Blue State Republican does NOT make.

The point would be the timing. Any endorsement would be appear to be a “me too” endorsement so at this point it is moot.

A great example is Pawlenty v Palin. When Palin endorsed Hoffman was in 3rd place but showed promise. She was talking a huge political risk, not only in angering the main party but in backing a losing horse and not only a losing horse but a THIRD PLACE horse in a three horse race. If Hoffman came in a poor 3rd the media would be jumping all over her. As I blogged Stephen Stromberger at the Washington post was practically giddy at the possibility. Margaret Carlson gives another example:

Scozzafava fails to meet Palin’s requirements for a good Republican because of her moderate position on gay marriage and abortion. While she says she won’t vote for new taxes, Palin doesn’t believe her. Friending Hoffman on Facebook, Palin wrote that the best thing about him is that he’s “not been anointed by any political machine” and stands for bedrock Republican principles. Invoking Ronald Reagan, Palin added that he knew that “blurring the lines wasn’t an appropriate way to win election.”

Put aside that Palin is violating Reagan’s cardinal rule not to speak ill of a fellow Republican. Palin isn’t a stickler for details. Her incursion into NY-23 puts into stark relief the schism in the party that’s been brewing like a tea bag since the party’s loss in November.

One-time rogue Newt Gingrich, in the midst of his periodic dithering over whether to run for president, went nuclear over her purity test. “This idea that we’re suddenly going to establish litmus tests, and all across the country, we’re going to purge the party of anybody who doesn’t agree with us 100 percent — that guarantees Obama’s reelection. That guarantees Pelosi is speaker for life.”

Yet despite Google’s love of all stories anti Palin Hoffman is now poised to win giving her the rewards from the risk. Pawlenty seeing that the game had changed found himself forced to follow her lead as did other republicans. They became followers. It made him look like Moe pushing Curley and Larry into a room.

Huckabee meanwhile made his preference to Hoffman clear so a official endorsement will only make him weak while his holding back will help him with the establishment. Strategically the status quo is his best move and it is not dishonorable…

…he is still not going to win in 2012 although the MSM will favor him over Palin if she runs, and will favor Romney over him if she doesn’t.

Vote Hoffman!

It’s an interesting contrast between events in the NY-23 and in Rome concerning the Anglicans. The first is happening quickly while the other has been happening over decades and centuries. Yet in the end it is the second that will be more important over the next century.

A lot of people on the left are grinning over their pseudo Palin book, but how much must it gall them deep inside to know they could never hope to have book sales of their content without her?

I was talking to a serving Military Friend of mine. He is really disappointed at the direction LGF has taken over the last few months. I suspect among other serving soldiers who follow this stuff that is not an unique thought.

Tangentially I think it is a huge mistake for both Rush (concerning the NFL) and Robert Stacy (concerning Charleston WV Gazette) to not promptly go with legal action, particularly for Robert Stacy who doesn’t have Rush’s millions. I don’t know what the statutes are concerning libel and defamation in terms of timing but I can’t see letting it go much beyond election day without action.

I got a bill from one of the medical providers I deal with, and called to pay it over the phone. In the sequence (for this for that business) there was the message:

“If you can’t speak English and need an interpreter press 4”

That struck me as very funny

I mentioned Beatles Rock Band that my kid got for his birthday. During that night when they were having their Jam my wife was sitting at the PC in the same room. She didn’t react. The moment I was handed the mike to sing she turned on her mp3 player and plugged in her earphones.

She used to turn on the radio whenever I would sing in the car when were dating too.

What would Doctor Who fans do without Rich’s comic blog? I know I say it a lot but it’s true every time I do.

Speaking of Dr. Who my son is a new series fanatic, on a history test he missed where Versailles was. He couldn’t believe he missed it and forgot about “The Girl in the Fireplace“.

And Yes I hit publish before I meant to.

I started this blog 8 days after Hiwired went under. The blog is now 5 weeks away from it’s 1 year anniversary. If you told me I would still be unemployed at this point I wouldn’t have believed you.

The fact that I’m still not working is a source of great embarrassment and shame to me. It has been one of the most depressing things I’ve ever gone through.

The fact that my pal Dave has been out of work almost as long as me is even more surprising.

You know I never much cared for Glenn Beck but I find myself watching it once in a while, I still think he’s too over the top for me but if it wasn’t for the idiots at the White House I wouldn’t watch it at all. I’ll wager that there are thousands like me.

I’ve been coughing for over 3 weeks now. I finished my Z-pack on Sunday and when the cough didn’t go away the family got on my case to call the doc. I did that Tuesday and they said it still takes the full 10 days for the drugs to work. The only reason they use the Z-Pack is because people who seem to feel better by day 7 tend to stop taking the drugs and then get worse. They’d rather deal with people angry that they are still sick on day 8 because they know they will get better, I hope so.

Considering the lack of sales I’ve managed for support you would think I’d feel like a sucker for my 18 month Log-me-in subscription but every time I help a friend and don’t have to spend hours there it pays for itself.

Burger king finally figured out that the customers didn’t like paying $2 for a double cheeseburger that McDonalds charges $1 for. I was wondering how long that would take.

I made a joke concerning a walking stick to a friend of my son, when he told his friend a silly story concerning said walking stick, a meat clever and an elf hat. I started questioning said friend of my son who else they would associate said story with. Every person she listed is a member of my gaming group. That was kinda sad.

What was sadder is she is absolutely right.

The more I see of the new Robin Hood series the more I appreciate the 1950’s Richard Greene series Communist writers not withstanding.

Speaking of Robin Hood, the best adaption is still the 1938 movie. One of the greatest movies ever made.

Olivia de Havilland who played Maid Marion is still alive and still has more class than anyone anyone I can think of in Hollywood.

Speaking of class considering the egg on their faces over Acorn Philly its a wonder that media matters, Bertha Lewis or the MSM can show their faces. Whatever Soros is paying these guys it isn’t enough.

And you can’t control a message when a youtube video is only an e-mail away.

Acorn should thank it’s lucky starts that the Phillies are going to the series.

I’ve been seeing more of the 1-20-2013. I still don’t like them, like the 1-20-09 stickers I think they are whiney.

You know I like Sarah Palin, I am looking forward to supporting her in 2012 or 2016 or 2020, but I do worry about going all obamacult over her. I see it in others and don’t want it for myself.

And her hips are STILL all wrong.

Have you noticed that whenever Liberals decide to fight for something they are encouraged by the media but whenever conservatives fight they are told to moderate?

I remember from Tip O’Neil’s Autobiography his frustration that Jimmy Carter wasn’t big on following up to push his agenda, every time I read that I feel so relieved.

Tip was right though you have to keep pushing things, that’s why I still write about media bias etc, because you would be surprised how quickly people manage to forget things in front of them.

For all the crazy political stuff going on in Massachusetts you still can’t beat the foliage.

And it is home.

It never ceases to amaze me that people still make the same mistakes that infect systems.

And the longer I live the less surprised I am about various outrageous things people do.

The Amazon vine general newsletter is due today, I have two books already on the way from the Vine that I ordered last week therefore I might not be able to order this week when all the stuff goes up. I haven’t decided if that is a good or a bad thing.

I suspect the Palin book won’t be there.

Once I get a job I wonder how much less I will be blogging?

And will anyone care?

Still no idea why I can’t get trackbacks from Hotair or Michelle.

But on the plus side I’ve been much more regular on my Rosary.

Considering my situation I’ve been very lazy on my prayers, I should really know better.

And on that note back to real life.

You don’t get much bigger than this:

The votes of every member of Congress affect every American, so it’s important for all of us to pay attention to this important Congressional campaign in upstate New York. I am very pleased to announce my support for Doug Hoffman in his fight to be the next Representative from New York’s 23rd Congressional district. It’s my honor to endorse Doug and to do what I can to help him win, including having my political action committee, SarahPAC, donate to his campaign the maximum contribution allowed by law.

Via The Other McCain more from the endorsement:

The federal government borrows, spends, and prints too much money, while our national debt hits a record high. Government is growing while the private sector is shrinking, and unemployment is on the rise. Doug Hoffman is committed to ending the reckless spending in Washington, D.C. and the massive increase in the size and scope of the federal government. He is also fully committed to supporting our men and women in uniform as they seek to honorably complete their missions overseas.

And best of all, Doug Hoffman has not been anointed by any political machine.

Doug Hoffman stands for the principles that all Republicans should share: smaller government, lower taxes, strong national defense, and a commitment to individual liberty.

Political parties must stand for something. When Republicans were in the wilderness in the late 1970s, Ronald Reagan knew that the doctrine of “blurring the lines” between parties was not an appropriate way to win elections. Unfortunately, the Republican Party today has decided to choose a candidate who more than blurs the lines, and there is no real difference between the Democrat and the Republican in this race. This is why Doug Hoffman is running on the Conservative Party’s ticket.

Republicans and conservatives around the country are sending an important message to the Republican establishment in their outstanding grassroots support for Doug Hoffman: no more politics as usual.

Hot Air comments:

One note of warning: Although its congressional seat has traditionally been solid Republican, NY-23 did break for Obama last year. There is a Democratic presence there, which means there’s a risk that conservatives won’t be the only party base galvanized by her entrance into the campaign. For better or worse, some of her clout’s on the line here too, especially now that The One’s thrown in for the Democrat. Good luck, Palinistas.

The confirms the report earlier today. She has crossed the Rubicon now this does several things.

Media coverage of the race will increase.

The other 2012 contenders will have to take a stand.

The NRCC now has to make a choice to fight her or support her.

The left will pour everything they can in this race in the hopes of defeating “her”.

If Hoffman wins it will be a Palin win, if he loses then they will paint her as a “loser”.

If you want to lead you have to be willing to get up front, she is!

I wish I was in Robert Stacy’s shoes right now!

Update: How much do you want to bet that Glenn Beck is kicking himself for not having Hoffman on today as scheduled?

Update 2: Can someone explain to me why Robert Stacy’s post isn’t the lead one on Memorandum since he beat the standard by at least 20 min? I should have checked the time stamps rather than the 10 min ago on memorandum my bad!

Update 3: A John Adams moment:

Update 4: Why does the Dump Dede site have this news with a question mark?

The only person more depressed tonight than Dede Scozzafva has to be Newt Gingrich.

Update 5: I guess this beats my breaking news about conference in Egypt doesn’t it?

Update 6: Anyone what to make book that tomorrow on Morning Joe the panel will go on and on how this hurts the republican party and will emasculate Palin if Hoffman loses?
