Yet another example of a Mass Pol discovering that decisions have consequences so to speak:

Massachusetts State Rep. Michael J Moran was rear-ended by a 27 year-old illegal immigrant on Friday. Boston’s Fox25 reports,

It gets more interesting he has apparently voted consistently for any kind of legislation to preserve, protect and defend the ability of illegal aliens to remain in the state and get benefits at the expense of the Massachusetts Taxpayer.
Meanwhile the person in question isn’t worried:

“I’m going to go back to my country, Mexico -Nothing is going to happen to me, man!”

Smitty has this to say about the potential coverage:

That said, it will be interesting to watch this “unfortunately undocumented societal victim of Bush-era injustice” move through the system.

Since it is difficult to pursue journalism while pandering, I’d expect this story to get rear-ended by a propaganda-drunk media.

Alas now I’m in Georgia so I can’t get to the bottom of this mess now but it will give me something to do when I get back.

In 2008 there was a question on the Massachusetts ballot to repeal the state income tax. It lost spectacularly by 40 points.

However a lot has changed in Massachusetts in the last 14 months to Carla Howell who spearheaded the last attempt to roll back taxes is back again. This time with an attempt to roll back the sales tax to 3%

I met her at the Post (tea) party Summit and she consented to an interview:

Things being a tad different in Massachusetts these days anything could happen.

Better luck next time.

I was all ready to cover Governor Patrick’s scheduled appearance in Fitchburg at J & R Glass on water street to talk about healthcare and it’s effect on small business. Had my photos of the place, photos of the sign “Welcome Governor Patrick” and the lot.

Employees talked about cleaning up the place and getting it all ready on short notice, tables were set up with pads and papers ready to begin, when the word suddenly came that the Governor had to cancel due to two arrests connected with the Times Square bombing.

Presume the governor is heading back to Boston to be ready to give a statement. Local stations are reporting searches in Watertown and Brookline.

Apparently after the arrest at 39 Waverly Street in Watertown Mass police raided two gas stations in Brookline. The two gas stations that are being searched are owned by a fellow named Elias Ali Audi (can’t vouch for the spelling) and is active and well liked in the community. A car registered to the Waverly Street location was found at one of the stations. Mr Ali apparently has a lot of family working at both locations but there is no word if he or is family is connected in the search or if the person taken into custody simply did business in these locations, although a neighbor at the Watertown location said there was always both a large quantity of men going in and out of the house and they were constantly working on cars.

Although one can’t assume any connection to Mr. Ali’s family the fact that both stations are being searched rather than simply the one where the car in particular was found might be significant.

Apparently the people were arrested for “immigration violations” no word on if LA will choose to boycott Massachusetts over these arrests.

All of this info is very preliminary at this time. I’ll give you more info as I get it.

Update: While I was waiting at the glass place the Jammie Wearing Fool was blogging it

My latest column for the examiner is up an excerpt:

…with the April meeting pending; organizer Justin Brooks started contacting democrats either in office or running for office. He left messages or talked to a half dozen different candidates eager to get another perspective, without success. Most office holders and candidates never got back to him, others had conflicts but when the April 26th meeting came around only a single candidate republican Mary Connaughton spoke to the 46 people assembled at the Border Grille & Bar in Leominster.

More details on the meeting are available here.

Remember hits on my examiner articles are the next best thing to hits on the DaTipJar.

Update: Instalanche on the Examiner article. Thanks muchly Glenn! Hits there are a lot more valuable to me than hits here.
