If you live in a swing state, a pestilence is headed your way this autumn.

Leftists from Illinois–and other liberal states–are on their way to tell you who to vote for in the 2024 presidential election.

Some of them might show up at your front door.

Politico’s Illinois Playbook, a gossipy left-wing email newsletter, asked its vainglorious readers, “We asked how you’ll be hitting the campaign.”

Nearly all of the respondents replied that they’re heading to Wisconsin or Michigan. Longtime leftist gadfly Terry Cosgrove said his presidential campaign goal is to be “up to Wisconsin as often as possible knocking on doors with Operation Swing State to help Kamala Harris win.”

Last weekend, Illinois’ Democrat governor, J.B. Pritzker, was in New Hampshire campaigning, throwing his weight around. Besides the states I just mentioned, if you live in Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, or North Carolina, expect an onslaught of haughty know-it-alls from Illinois and other failed blue states, including California, calling you on the telephone while you’re sleeping or having dinner.

And yes, they might show up at your front door.

The horror, the horror!

Cosgrove, with his arrogance and his Harvey Fierstein-like gravelly voice, might actually help the conservative cause in Wisconsin.

But others might be more persuasive with low-information voters.

Just today, Matt Martin, a Chicago alderman, boasted on X that liberals in his ward were headed to Wisconsin. There are 49 other wards in Chicago.

If you are reading Da Tech Guy blog, you are well-versed in following the campaign. You won’t fall for the fatuous “joy” campaign platitudes of the Kamala Harris campaign. But you can break the opposition.

Being friendly is no longer an option. Our country is at stake.

These blue state invaders need to be demoralized.

Because I live in Illinois–someone has to document its decline-and-fall–I’m going to focus on what to say when that Prairie State progressive shows up at your front door. If you get a call and the accent isn’t quite right, or they mispronounce your hometown, assume it’s a blue state liberal ruining your day. Your task is to respond as I recommend.

First, a little background on Illinois:

The Democrats have controlled both chambers of Illinois’ state legislature–often with supermajorities–since 2003, thanks to egregious gerrymandering. During that time span, there has been a Republican governor for only four years.

Illinois’ largest city, Chicago, hasn’t had a Republican mayor since 1931.

The many problems of Illinois are the creation of Democrats. Remember that.

I don’t expect you to remember everything listed here. If you can, then great

So, your doorbell rings, and it’s, let’s say, it is Terry Cosgrove from Illinois and Operation Swing State who bellows, “I’m Terry, and you must vote for Kamala.”

Now comes the fun–but important part.

Your best reply is, “Why should I vote for the Democratic candidate for president when you leftists destroyed Illinois?”

You’ll hear some lies about how Illinois is the closest thing to heaven on this planet, but then you need pounce back.

Remember. we want to break these leftists. Think of Emperor Palpatine using the Force to destroy Luke Skywalker.

So you answer back:

  • If Ilinois is as great as you say it is, then why has the state been losing population annually for ten years and counting?

As longtime Chicago White Sox broadcaster, Hawk Harrelson, used to say after the South Siders scored a run, “Don’t stop there!”

More replies for that leftist:

  • Illinois has the nation’s second-highest gasoline taxes. Where does that money go?  Illinois’ roads suck. Oh, you intrusive leftists: make sure you fill up your gas tanks before you head home.
  • Four of the last ten elected governors in Illinois have served time in federal prison, Illinois is corrupt. Keep political graft inside your hell hole.
  • Chicago is corrupt too. Every sixteen months or so a Chicago City Council member is sentenced to prison.
  • Crime is out of control in Chicago. For the last eight years, a George Soros-funded prosecutor, Kim Foxx, has coddled criminals. We don’t need Chicago-style mayhem here.
  • Illinois cares more about criminals than crime victims. Illinois is the only state that bans cash bail. For the last 12 years, more people were murdered Chicago than any other city–and New York and Los Angeles have many more residents.
  • The public pension plans in Illinois–and Chicago–are among the worst funded in the country. Clearly, Democrats can’t manage money. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have driven this point home.
  • Chicago faces a nearly $1 billion deficit for 2025.
  • Will a Harris-Walz administration propose Illinois and Chicago bailouts?
  • Illinois has the second-highest unemployment rate in the nation. I like earning paychecks.
  • Illinois is failed state, the Venezuela of the Midwest.
  • Go back to Illinois and stay there.

If the commie at your door brings up reproductive rights, meaning of course abortion on demand, reply that Donald Trump has repeatedly promised not to implement a federal abortion ban. Unlike most politicians, Trump generally keeps his word. For instance, every major presidential candidate for decades promised to move our embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Only Trump followed through.

The usual retort used by leftists to explain the Illinois Exodus is one word, “weather.” If that’s true, then why is every state that borders Illinois–and Michigan–gaining population?

For you swing state voters, remember. No more Mister Nice Guy. Save America and protect yourself from blue state failure.

Break them.

Captain Mullins: [Forgetting he’s holding the lie detector handle] That’s enough! Break it up! [to Shemp] Now then, what were you doing at eleven o’clock last night?

Shemp: I don’t know. What were you doing at eleven o’clock?

Captain Mullins: Uh, I was at a lodge meeting. [The lie detector beeps very loudly, startling the Stooges the pen travels wildly in a crooked line then the machine suddenly stops]

Officer operating the lie Detector: That last question seems to have broken the machine, captain.

This story is slightly old but If you want to find something that perfectly encapsulates what the Democrat party has become, this is it. Apparently there has been a problem with Truthfulness among people testifying before NH government committees. Folks have been saying one thing and then it’s been revealed to be, as the committee member put it “infactual”. Fortunately under NH law there is a solution. Any State Senator or Rep receiving testimony on a committee member can do what Rep Sandra Panek did here:

Pursuant to RSA 1414, which states that any Senator or Representative, while acting as a member of the committee, of the legislature, may admininster an oath to any person who may be examined before such a committee. I would like to require an oath of the witness and all witnesses testifying before this committee. The testimony we are taking is concerning a very serious subject matter, and we must ensure truthfulness.

Now you might think members of the legislature would welcome truthful testimony being made before them, but apparently not if they are Democrats who immediately objected noting that they have not seen this happen in the nearly two decades on such a committee.

I presume this is why the issue of “infactual” testimony has become a problem and if there is one thing that we’ve seen from our friends on the left over and over from crossing the border illegally to blocking highways is a complete rejection of the idea that actions might have consequences.

Unexpectedly of course

There is a story about how the special rare style of eclipse that will be viewed from Texas is going to produce issues with Texas’ power grid renewable side because said eclipse will be so long.

This highlights one of the things that sane Red States need to address. As people flee to them the demand on basic services from Electricity to water are going to increase which means you have to build the infrastructure to handle said increases. This means power stations, dams etc which will mean some expense for state budgets.

Of course they might decide not doing this will keep the liberals out.

There was a story out of New Zealand that I referenced briefly yesterday that based on their specialties Doctors were given Covid Vaccine exemptions but only if they did not reveal said exemptions is yet another “post Christian” horror story where the general population was kept in the dark for fun and profit but there was a stat in the story that I must confess throws me off. To wit:

The most highly Covid vaccinated nations in the OECD are in order Portugal, Chile, Canada, Iceland, New Zealand, Spain and Australia. Their average percentage of the population vaccinated is 91 per cent. Their average rate of excess deaths so far in 2023 is 12 per cent above the five-year historical average.

The least Covid vaccinated nations in the OECD are Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Poland, Estonia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Switzerland. Their average percentage of the population vaccinated is just 63 per cent. Their average rate of excess deaths so far in 2023 is 0 per cent compared to the five-year historical average. In other words, they have averaged a normal death rate.

The great difference between excess deaths is not a surprise but the 0% figure from countries that have a 63% of the population vaxxed is. 63% is a solid majority of the population. I’m no doctor but the math seems inconsistent that there would be no statistical excess deaths given that more than 3 in 5 of the population took the jab if the jab is the cause.

I’d be interested in seeing the historical rates of some of the known COVID jab side effects pre-covid in those countries vs the others and I wonder what the booster rates were in those countries. That might be the difference.

Stacy McCain took on the Trevor Bauer story on great Major League pitcher who insisted on his innocence and had the courage and wisdom to hold out till said innocence could be proven.

While I suspect the lawsuit against MLB will be epic as his suspension cost him tens of millions of dollars the bottom line is that by not embracing the Church’s teaching on marriage and sex Bauer put himself in that situation. However as many young rich men won’t listen to that point Stacy pointed out some basic facts both about there statistical odds of a genital herpes but more importantly a basic fact of life that might make a more effective argument:

If a woman is very attractive, why is she still single at age 27? Why is she still in the dating market? What’s wrong with her?

Now if you’re date her for a while with the thought of Christian marriage you might be able to find out the answer to that question but if you’re out for a quick lay these are the risks you take.

God’s laws aren’t just the right thing they’re the smart thing.

Thursday I was at a stop light in Fitchburg with a large truck on my left next to me. The light turned green and because I was running early I paused before going because our two lanes were going to merge into one not wanting to bottle neck.

It’s a good thing I did because the very next moment a car from the lane whose light just turned red passed just in front of me at high speed, jumped the curb and crashed into a parked car at the bank parking lot where I had been five minutes earlier.

If I had been a second or two faster in moving forward that car would have hit my drivers door square and you would be reading something else this morning.

I seem to have run into a lot of things over my lifetime where the difference between life and death was a split second away. I guess all those Rosaries make a difference.

“First we must cross the river,” Benito was saying.  “Do you believe me now when I tell you that you must not attempt to swim it, or even get wet from it, or must you try that too?”

“What happens if I just dive in?”

“Then you will be as you were in the bottle.  Aware and unable to move.  but it will be very cold, and very uncomfortable, and you will be there for all eternity knowing that you put yourself there.”

Larry Niven & Jerry Pournelle Inferno 1976

Lately we’ve been seeing a lot of posts about Democrat panic as things continue to get worse in the country and more and more of what the left has been doing continues to come out.

But then actual reality slips in and that’s when you get nailed:

Bonchie at red state puts it in perspective:

The GOP challenger was James Guzofski, a local pastor who once proclaimed from the pulpit that the prophets told him Trump won the 2020 election. He lost by 12 points in a district that current Republican Gov. Chris Sununu won by 22 points. In other words, this wasn’t some long-shot blue district. This was a district the GOP was supposed to easily compete in, if not be favored to win outright.

Moreover this puts the GOP majority in the house on a knife edge:

There are now 198 Republicans, 197 Democrats, two Independents, and three vacant seats in the state House.

Now you would think that going into an election with a 2 seat majority in a 400 member house the state GOP would have been all in concerning this election.

It was not.

There are several lessons here the first is this:

It doesn’t matter what the national pols are saying, if you are losing districts like this, that you absolutely have to win then you aren’t going anywhere.

People can get excited by Biden’s falling poll numbers all they want but if you can’t win a seat like this it those numbers are meaningless.

But more important consider this:

Guzofski is a Northwood selectman and a chaplain for the Northwood Fire Department. He has been in the ministry for 34 years. Guzofski said, “I have been elected twice to the office of selectman in Northwood dedicated to keep your taxes low. As selectman I have implemented plans for better communication between town officials and you. … For years I have served our Nottingham and Northwood community, fighting for your needs in town.”

Sounds like a person who is well known in the area and might have plenty of local pull particularly in a district where there former rep was a republican and the republican governor won by 22 points. But there is also the youtube video of him proclaiming from the pulpit that the prophets told him that Trump won the 2020 election.

Now it’s one thing to believe that election 2020 was stolen based on the evidence as I do, it’s another to proclaim that the prophets told you that Trump won in 2020.

One might think that the saints might be more interested in the state of a person’s soul vs the results of a national election but let’s stay on topic a sec.

How many voters who voted GOP in the past looked at that video and bluntly told themselves: “I don’t want this loony at the state house?” I’m guessing more than the 331 votes margin he lost by.

What does that tell me? Just this:

It doesn’t matter how many people show up at rallies in deep red states or just how inept Joe Biden is, there is a portion of the GOP vote that simply will NOT vote for Donald Trump or people associated with him and no amount of national polling or wishful thinking or saying how foolish this is will change that.

And it’s worth remembering this fellow had a long local footprint. He was the fire department chaplin, he was a local selectman he is known in the community but that didn’t matter. There are those who simply will not vote for a Trump associated candidate no matter how much of a local footprint he has:

I wish this was not true, but wishing that it’s not true or saying how unfair it is doesn’t change things.

I’ll give Bonchie the last word:

I may not be that smart, but I’m capable of learning from past mistakes, and I’m not going to blow smoke up anyone’s backside and suggest this special election result doesn’t matter. Clearly, given what happened in 2022 with special elections, it matters, and if something doesn’t change quickly among the Republican electorate, 2024 is going to be another swift kick in the teeth.
