Well it was a bit of a wait

But visiting the unemployment office in person got the extension taken care of with a minimum of fuss.

Always bring a book when you know you will have a long wait, and you will be able to deal with it cheerfully.

Lets talk blame

Well it seems to me that we might now ask if we are going to attempt to blame the murder of Mr. Tiller on all those who disagreed with him and protested him, by that standard are we to blame the various anti-war movements for this shooting?

Granted the details are very different but how many years have groups on the left been shouting haditha or Abu Ghraib? Shall we now blame the Maine Cat Woman for this shooting? By her standard we should.

Both those arguments have one thing in common, the attempt to repress protected speech that the other doesn’t like, and both arguments are equally absurd.

…it’s so bad that when I called the extended benefits line at 888-998-8418 to get the ball rolling on extended benefits the automated phone message told me to call back on THURSDAY three days from today!

If I wasn’t waiting for a callback from a doctor over a broken wrist for a son of mine I’d hit the local office at once.

I do have an interview on Wednesday, so with luck all of this might be a moot point.

On the brighter side my son who just graduated high school has just gotten a job. He was laid off back in July of last year from the job he had since he was 14. (He started a week before his 15th birthday). He will be starting later this month. So maybe there is hope after all. He was laid off 4 months ahead of me. I hope that doesn’t mean I have to wait till November to find something.

…are likely very upset that GM is going bankrupt today and that combined with what appears to be a horrible air disaster (hopefully not but it’s very early in the reporting) could push their counteroffensive against the pro-life movement off of the lead story on the cable networks etc.

In terms of news Mr. Tiller’s murder is significant but next to GM’s Bankruptcy (which ironically took place as I typed this sentence) it is almost a non-story.

The Sotomayor nomination would have been a chance to re-introduce the news but the lefts own attempts to minimize her abortion position and her “poor choice of words” assure that this will not become the big abortion fight.

Again this is very cynical, but true. I don’t think the Tiller assassination (and it WAS a vile act of assassination) is going to break through but it will be taken out of the lefts pocket as needed in the future.
