Both Kathleen and the commentators at Amy Siskind post seem to be asserting that Sarah Palin was asking for it.
I’d like to ask how I’m supposed to teach my sons respect for women when stuff like this is defended even by women?

(I can’t prove it, of course, but apparently she has no problem with such vicious statements, whether true or not. And she’s a public figure, so who cares if she objects or wants to protect her family? Kathleen Parker’s just asking for it.)
Your point is taken but I had to take the liberty of editing your comment because it would not have been appropriate for the blog, particularly considering the argument I’ve made concerning standards and women.
I didn’t want to totally remove it since the double standard point you were making is solid. If you would prefer it removed because it doesn’t convey your point to the degree you want just let me know.
