Remembering Nicholas Courtney, the Brigadier

One of the most important figures in the history of the Dr. Who series was the Character of the Brigadier. Nicholas Courtney played the character since 1968 both on TV and in the Big Finish audios the last 60’s and had previously appeared in the series with the first Doctor as a different character.

Late last year he shot a piece for the DVD version of the Doctor who movie.

Last Week Nicholas Courtney died at the age of 81. Despite decades of acting before being cast in Doctor for millions around the world, he will always be the Brigadier, the ultimate stoic Brit, courageous in the face of danger, unwavering in his loyalty and devoted to his duty. As Tom Baker said:

‘Of all the characters in Doctor Who there is no doubt he was the most loved by the fans for his wonderful portrayal of the rather pompous Brigadier,’

and he continued having visited him just before his death:

‘The lady in charge said he was very stoical. And indeed he was. It was so distressing to see him so weak and yet so strong in resignation. My jokes were received with a generous effort from Nick to smile.’

Stoical , weak yet strong in resignation. That sounds just like the Brig.

Nicholas Courtney will be missed, but in video audio and fiction Brigadier Alister Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart will live forever.

or not.

The left hates violence

Unless they lose an election that is:

Now remember the federal government doesn’t give collective bargaining rights so does that mean that Mr. Alexander is also supporting violent retaliation against the feds? Against Obama? Inquiring minds want to know.

Now the most interesting thing about this stuff is this is going up on the net, right on twitter. No attempt to hide it, spoken openly.

Why because the left counts on the media to ignore it. If you want to see the face of the left take a look at the comments left for Andrew Breitbart’s on twitter.

The reason why the internet explosion has been so bad for the left is it allows them to be seen for what they are.

Oh as for Scott Walker, well that election doesn’t count because….

Never mind that he won and that the only reason “debate” is not taking place is because the senate democrats ran away.

This is the unapologetic left. They are afraid right now because they are losing and the more afraid they get the less guarded with their speech they get.

Go and take a look at our exchange on Twitter and see what happens when his arguments fail. It is instructive.

Update: Instalanche: I would have thanked Glenn sooner but I hit the sack early.

The Big Picture is all a flutter with this headline:

Roger Ailes to be Indicted

OMG this is a story that will rock the nation! Let’s take a look at the basis for this incredible story:

Someone I spoke with claimed that Ailes was scheduled to speak at their event in March, but canceled. It appears that Roger’s people, ostensibly using a clause in his contract, said he “cannot appear for legal reasons.”

I asked “What, precisely, does that mean?”

The response: “Roger Ailes will be indicted — probably this week, maybe even Monday.”

That’s it? This is what makes a story a headline on Memeorandum?

Barry I don’t know you but C’mon!

I predict that the left will get all Fizsmasey over this nonsense and will be sadly disappointed when nothing comes of it.

You heard it here first.
