Mark Melman: Wisconsin governor is waging “internal struggle” against unions

Well actually his opinion piece is actually titled titled:

Wisconsin governor is waging jihad against unions

And the piece starts so:

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s (R) jihad against public employee unions is about 30 years late and likely to make Republicans even less popular with voters, who endorse collective bargaining rights for public employees — professionals for whom they have abiding respect.

But but I thought Jihad was an internal struggle and we in the west totally islamophobic if we suggest otherwise? Let me give Mr. Melman a clue. This is Jihad:

This is not

I await to see Melman’s reaction when the next Islamic act of “internal struggle” takes place.

Update: I didn’t have to wait long

German officials said shots were fired “near or on” a bus carrying US soldiers Wednesday, killing at least two people.

An airport spokesman said shooting took place in front of Terminal 2 of what is continental Europe’s second-biggest hub

and the people involved?

The German police arrested a 21-year-old man from Kosovo on suspicion of involvement in the shooting.

Well of course this man must be involved in the Republican Party in Wisconsin, after all that’s where Jihad is taking place, right Mark Melman?

Or maybe its the return of the Flemish Menace?

The left’s perception filter on Union thuggery

Take a look at this video via Little Miss Attila:

This morning I haven’t seen anything on the news (but plenty of good coverage from the blogs about this scene)

Attila asks the first question:

Heroic action by Rep. Brett Hulsey saves the day, and possibly Sen. Grothman’s life. What would have happened if Hulsey hadn’t been wearing that union T-shirt? Would enough people in the crowd have recognized him by sight for him to still have turned them back?

For those who want to defend this as “democracy in action” lets play a game: Pretend that Sen. Grothman was an abortion doctor and the crowd around him were opponents of abortion. How many times would this video be replayed? Would even Charlie Sheen being found in bed with Gaddafi and Snooki be able to keep this from being the media story of the week?

As AOL noted today concerning union actions “Not one of those outrages was apparently worthy of much in the way of news coverage.” I suspect this one will not either.

The media and abortion

Roderick P. Murphy notes an oddity in the Telegram :

Democrat-controlled legislatures usually want to regulate anything that runs, breathes, smells, makes payroll, burns, flows or is productive.

However, when it comes to abortion facilities, these same lefties are against anyone daring to do so, even for women’s safety. But the recent, soaring number of criminal cases involving abortion “clinics” has exposed this hypocrisy with regard to women’s health.

He then brings up Dr. Kermit Gosnell. What? You’ve forgotten him already? I’m not surprised. You see if Dr. Gosnell’s practice involved anything other than abortion you would see the MSM reporting breathlessly on it with the biggest names in media asking how this could be.

But Dr. Gosnell’s business is abortion, that means the media is determined to make sure you never hear of him again.

The idea that your daughter can’t get her ears pierced or a tatoo without parental permission but can get an abortion without one is insane. The idea that people can occupy a state capital and disrupt business is free speech but if you come within x amount of feet of an abortion mill carrying a protest sign is not is akin to the Gag Rule that John Quincy Adams fought for decades.

I still predict that the day will come when future generations will look back at this era with amazement.

…but after seeing all the exchanges from Attila’s post and Ace’s update combined with Stacy’s post last night reminded me of this story from my youth.

There were two different crowds I hung with, one was a Massachusetts crowd from high school and one was a NH crowd I met in college. The NH crowd was less sober but generated a whole bunch of very interesting stories.

They would do various pickup stunts. One of the guys would try to pick up a girl at a bar, when she turned him down the others standing at the door would loudly hum the Old Spice theme, toss him a bottle, He would put on the Old Spice and as the girl was laughing he would ask her out again (still didn’t work but it was a laugh)

One of the most interesting stunts they would do was to find a woman at a bar, go up to her and directly ask her if she would sleep with him.

Before the girl could hit him or tell him to get lost, he would ask to explain. He would say that normally he would make small talk, maybe buy a few drinks, perhaps a meal and invest an entire night and only at the end of it find out if he was going to actually get laid, which was the whole idea.

This way she has no illusions about him and he doesn’t waste the whole night on a wild goose chase.

Two things would always happen after this. The girl would agree he made sense, and would tell him to get lost.

Given the times I wonder what the result would be today?
