Every time I post quotes by Thomas Jefferson on social media, something I do quite often because he has always been the founding father I most closely identify with, my Progressive friends trot out their customary talking points with maximum smugness.  I’m absolutely sure you know which ones I’m talking about.  The ones condemning Thomas Jefferson for owning slaves, which he inherited and tried desperately to free but could not because of Virginia law. and being a white supremacist.  Jefferson very hard to free all slaves on several occasions but failed. He was no white supremacist either. Neither charges are valid and are discussed in these two books: Jefferson Lies and The Real Thomas Jefferson. Both are extremely well documented and chock full of quotes.

As Independence Day rolls around every year liberal news agencies bash Thomas Jefferson for hypocrisy because they claim he only included white people when he wrote the Declaration of Independence, that he did not touch on slavery at all. They are dead wrong on this.   The original and complete text of Declaration of Independence, as originally written by Thomas Jefferson, is proof of hollowness if these charges.

The truth of the matter is that the original complete text of the Declaration of Independence is proof that Thomas Jefferson was actually a failed abolitionist.  When he wrote the Declaration of Independence he included a clause condemning the King of England for England’s role in slavery. That criticism of slavery in our most seminal document would have ended slavery in the this newborn nation.  The clause was eliminated by the members of the Continental Congress who were from colonies that supported slavery.  Here is the deleted clause.

He has waged cruel war against human nature itself, violating its most sacred rights of life and liberty in the persons of a distant people who never offended him, captivating & carrying them into slavery in another hemisphere or to incur miserable death in their transportation thither.  This piratical warfare, the opprobrium of infidel powers, is the warfare of the Christian King of Great Britain.  Determined to keep open a market where Men should be bought & sold, he has prostituted his negative for suppressing every legislative attempt to prohibit or restrain this execrable commerce.  And that this assemblage of horrors might want no fact of distinguished die, he is now exciting those very people to rise in arms among us, and to purchase that liberty of which he has deprived them, by murdering the people on whom he has obtruded them: thus paying off former crimes committed again the Liberties of one people, with crimes which he urges them to commit against the lives of another.

As a bonus here are the standings of our face to face draft league which first began playing in 1987 in Fitchburg Massachusetts. We have two divisions with 4 teams each playing a 60 game season every other Saturday at Zeda’s Pizza in Fitchburg MA. The individual leagues are named for deceased members of the league. Five teams make the playoffs, the best record gets home field throughout and 2nd best record of the division leaders gets a home series against the best non-division winner while the final two teams play a one game playin for the right to face the best division winner in the playoffs.

The Biden administration’s pullout of the U.S. military from Afghanistan is deployable and disheartening.

After 20 years in the country, the United States left Afghanistan’s Bagram Airfield by shutting off the electricity and slipping away in the night without notifying the base’s new Afghan commander, the Associated Press reported.

“We (heard) some rumor that the Americans had left Bagram … and finally by seven o’clock in the morning, we understood that it was confirmed that they had already left Bagram,” Gen. Mir Asadullah Kohistani, Bagram’s new commander, told the AP.

Before the Afghan army could take control of the airfield, which lies about an hour’s drive from the Afghan capital of Kabul, it was invaded by a small army of looters, who ransacked barrack after barrack and rummaged through giant storage tents before being evicted, according to local military officials.

The sprawling air base was at the center of America’s war to unseat the Taliban and hunt down the al-Qaida planners of the 9/11 attacks on America.

Used by the U.S. and NATO forces, Bagram includes two runways and more than 100 parking slots for fighter jets known as revetments because of the blast walls that protect each aircraft. The base also consists of a prison with about 5,000 prisoners, many of them from the Taliban.

The U.S. forces reportedly left behind thousands of civilian vehicles, many of them without keys to start them. The departing troops took heavy weapons and blew up ammunition on the base.

The military did leave tens of thousands of bottles of water, energy drinks, and military ready-made meals, known as MREs, which will prove of little use in the fight against the Taliban.

The AP spoke with Afghan soldiers at the base that had once seen as many as 100,000 U.S. troops. The Afghans criticized how the United States left Bagram, escaping in the night without telling the Afghan soldiers who patrol the perimeter.

“In one night, they lost all the goodwill of 20 years by leaving the way they did, in the night, without telling the Afghan soldiers who were outside patrolling the area,” said one Afghan soldier.

Biden plans to pull out all U.S. troops by August, leaving a vacuum that will almost certainly lead to the Taliban taking power once again.

In northern Afghanistan, for example, district after district has fallen to the Taliban, and most analysts think the group will retake the country.
Although I concede that the United States stayed too long in Afghanistan, the departure of troops under the cover of darkness sends a clear signal to allies that the United States can no longer be trusted.

A Fair Black for Black Trade

This week we had the pleasure of black Americans who have reached the pinnacle of wealth, influence and fame in America again go off on how oppressed and unfree black Americans are in this country. In addition we’ve had the media left treat these claims as if they are credible rather than the nonsense they are.

It is often said to such people that nobody is stopping them from leaving and that is true but if you really want to illustrate the lie that they are saying and their knowledge that what they are saying is a lie I propose the following.

A simple exchange:

I propose that Cori Bush or Torre or any member of the Black community that believes they are oppressed in the United States of America exchange their citizenship and location with a Black African who is currently on a waiting list to immigrate here legally and wishes to come to America and make a new life.

I think it’s a perfect plan, the person on the immigration waiting list gets to come to the country they have wanted to come to for years and the people who are loudest in their declarations that the USA is bad place for black people get to escape the oppression that they suffer so. Everyone wins!

Furthermore in the USA people like Bush and Torre are at best C list elite or celebs here in the US but in the countries they would be traveling to they would likely jump straight to A or at least B list. In fact an ordinary American with a small bit of saving might be considered elite in many places where such an exchange might take place.

And why limit it to black elites or activists who claim America is evil, let’s exchange an Italian family for Alyssa Milano’s an Arab family for Talib’s the possibilities are endless. In fact let’s swap any celeb who keep saying how awful America is or that they will leave if X is elected with a person from their ancestor’s country of origin waiting to come here.

It’s a win win win, the people who claim to be oppressed are happy, the people who want to come here are happy and I’d certainly be happy and thanks to the miracle of social media they can still diss America from wherever they are to demonstrate their superiority.

Now what could be more fair than that?
