German Officer: [Bringing in dummy paratrooper] General this is what they dropped/ They explode when they come in contact with the earth. In the dark they look like soldiers.
Aide: Perhaps they are what General Richter saw, not real paratroopers.

General Erich Marks: No. When you create a diversion, it’s for a reason.

The Longest Day 1961

We’re heard a lot of things concerning Jan 6th from the left and we’ve seen Americans whose crime was to walk into a public building with police allowing them in treated worse that those burning down their cities because they have the same unapproved opinion on the honestly of Election 2024 as I have.

But if you really want to understand what actually happened and who is telling the truth, you can’t do better than the clue provided by this bit of breaking news.

Hotair puts it this way:

Fox News reports that the House Committee that was supposed to inherit the files from the January 6th Committee was handed a jumbled mess of unorganized files and computer records, and as they have been sorting through them they discovered that about 1/2 the records are missing.

This is illegal for a number of reasons, both due to laws demanding the preservation of records, and by the rules by which the committee was established. Many January 6th defendants have been requesting some of these records for their defense, claiming that they contain exculpatory evidence, and the House simply cannot provide them due to their absence.

To me it’s a very simple equation:

If you are doing things above board and the evidence supports your conclusions naturally you preserve all your records as required by law so that any mere blogger who questions it can be quickly shot down as a crank.

But if you destroy those records, it’s for a REASON. And the logical reason for it is that the evidence it contains contradicts and or disproves what was being presented. Which is why no republican who might object to such things or demand that such evidence be preserved was allowed on the committee.

The logical conclusion of his is the folks on the January 6th committee are corrupt bastards who should never be allowed in any office of trust and that the entire narrative we have been sold on it is and always has been a lie.

And to those on the left who still insist that all of this is above board and claim I should not say such scandalous things, I say in the same frame that Harry Truman answered the Russian ambassador: Stop acting in the scandalous way and I’ll stop calling your behavior a scandal.

A note: The reason you have both the tweet in question and the image of that tweet in this post is because for some strange reason wordpress didn’t like that tweet embedded when I tried to do it at first. A few years ago I would have automatically assumed it was a tech issue and pulled the duplicate but since being repeatedly falsely banned by twitter during November and early December of 2020 and being kicked off of youtube for suggesting the fix was in on the last election I must confess I’m a tad jaded these day so I’ll just keep the screen shot in, just in case.

Andrew: most of us go through life with blinders on, madam. Knowing only that one little station to which we were born. But now you, madam, on the other hand, had the… rare privilege of escaping your bonds for just a spell. To see life from an entirely new perspective. How you choose to use that information, madam… is entirely up to you.

Overboard 1987

At Hot Air David Strom bluntly says it aloud:

In less than 1 week the administration has shredded the already tattered reputation of the Justice Department.

  • Last Wednesday a US Attorney tried to convince a judge to give what amounted to a plenary pardon to Hunter Biden for all crimes he had committed in the past.
  • On Thursday Donald Trump was indicted yet again.
  • Then Sam Bankman-Fried was let off the hook for funneling $90 million of stolen funds into the pockets of Democrats.
  • Then the Justice Department demanded a judge jail a whistleblower who has revealed that Joe Biden was deeply involved in Hunter Biden’s influence peddling.
  • Then the FBI reveals it contracted illegally with a spyware firm…
  • And on Tuesday Donald Trump got indicted yet again.

As I said, they aren’t even trying to pretend they are anything but corrupt tyrants who are convinced they can get away with anything they want to.

The infuriating thing is that they are right.

You see for a long time the deep state has been slowly boiling the frog in America and slowly moving toward a uniparty neo-feudal system whereby the connected in the world may do all (read Epstein & his clients) slowly but surely they were moving things. Their great advance was in the Obama years when under the dazzling light of the chosen one many foot soldiers of their cause found their way into government service.

The election of Trump so shook these people and his potential re-election shook them even further. In normal times they would have just put things on slow motion and waited for the worm to turn but he shook them to the point where they went all out to destroy him fearing all would be exposed and ruined.

The irony of course is they misread him. If they allowed him to accomplish what he wanted and helped a little they could have taken partial credit and then once the eight years were up continued on their path without any loud noises of warning. Instead by going all out they frankly caused all of these things to come out in the open and exposed who and what they are to the American people. Why if it hadn’t been for Trump people would still think Merrick Garland was a squishy moderate.

The real gift of Trump has been to bring all of this out in the open. That is the key. Now none of it is hidden and we as a society must decide which path we take.

Without Trump we don’t get this choice, may it be a wise one because the fate we choose will be the one we deserve.

Closing thought: I’d like to remind everyone that

Rejecting the left’s attempt to subvert justice and the electoral process

and

Deciding someone other than Trump would be the best GOP nominee

are not mutually exclusive.

The hair on fire commentary on the Trump indictment continues but for all the bluster from the left and NeverTrump on Trump as criminal or idiot and all the anger on the right over folks who steal election proving to be dishonest in other things not to mention the double standards being applied, there is one argument keeps getting advanced that I think is nonsense so I ask this question:

In what way does the Corrupt and dishonorable actions of the Biden Administration in moving forward on the indictment of President Trump automatically mean that Trump is the best qualified candidate for me to choose for the GOP nomination for president?

There are plenty of reasons to support Trump for the nomination, based on my analysis at the time of Biden Inauguration I had him ranked 4th among president behind Washington, Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt. Since then the revelations of the extraordinary steps taken to hinder his presidency have only added glow to his accomplishments in the sense that it makes it more extradentary that he accomplished anything let alone what he managed. On the minus side you have his failure to check Fauci and company which proved to be a huge mistake harmful for the nation. Taken in all I still rank him 4th or maybe even third all time and that kind of record is certainly a reason to vote for him.

But being oppressed by democrats and opposed by NeverTrump is not, particularly if there is a better alternative. If we are going to choose a nominee based on the unjust persecution by the Biden Administration then there are several pro-life Catholics and J6 Prisoners who deserve the nomination over Trump.

While there is not a GOP candidate in the race I can’t vote for and a few who I might vote for someday. At this moment my choice is between Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis. I’ve noted the case for Trump above and it’s a good one. Personally I’m leaning toward DeSantis on these grounds:

  1. His record on the state level is as impressive as Trump’s on the Federal one
  2. There is (fairly or unfairly) a group on uninformed Americans who will vote against Trump simply for being Trump (That’s not fair but neither is life) thus giving DeSantis a better chance of winning or at least making the election slightly harder to steal
  3. He can serve two terms if he wins in 2024
  4. While Trump is in fantastic shape for his age DeSantis is younger and less likely to physically decline in office.

DeSantis hasn’t closed the deal for me yet and Trump of course has his excellent record and his ability to bring out a base of excited voters in his favor, most votes every in history other than one candidate whose “magic ballots” that appear after midnight are still suspect. As I’ve said before Trump vs DeSantis as the nominee is like choosing between Ted Williams & Stan Musial to start in left for your team. Both are excellent players with excellent records and proven results but different styles it’s a question of which one is likely to help your current team win a particular game.

It’s not going to be because the Biden Administration are a bunch of corrupt asses and choose to act as such, nor to piss of the left and Never Trump, and anyways given their temperament they’ll be pissed off anyways. Even the most milquetoast GOP candidate can do it.

I’d feel comfortable voting for either of these men in the primary or the general but when I make my decision it’s going to be based on my judgement on which candidate is the best for the job and most likely to win period, and frankly you should too and if my judgement is different than yours, that’s OK.

So Pilate said to him, “Then you are a king?” Jesus answered,

“You say I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.”

Pilate said to him, “What is truth?”

John 18:37-38a

As Christians mark Good Friday and Catholics around the world at their churches read the exchange between Jesus and Pilate on Truth we saw an example of the question of what is truth from the Miami Herald. Concerning Rebekah Jones she of the Everybody Blog About Rebekah Jones Day and her son.

Apparently Rebekah was a tad worried about some things her son was doing and called police. Police took him into custody.

Immediately Jones decided that Ron DeSantis had her son arrested and proclaimed such to the world.

Now unstable people making wild accusations is one thing but apparently the Miami Herald decided that the chance to attack Ron DeSantis was too good to pass up and thus:

Alas for the Herald there is this thing in twitter these days called community notes that can explain what truth actually is:

And VIOLA the headline at the Miami Herald changed:

Apparently while the Miami Herald didn’t know what “truth” was they could be educated with a bit of help, although the designation of Jones as a “whistleblower” is at best iffy.

Closing thought: Speaking of Pilate and the press here is a headline from Hotair.com:

Krugman: even if Trump is innocent, this is justice

As I recall Pilate decided it was the best thing to hand a man he knew was innocent of the charges against him to the mob too.

Update: Hotair has more, it’s worse
