Thus the word of the LORD came to me: Son of man, I have appointed you a watchman for the house of Israel. When you hear a word from my mouth, you shall warn them for me. If I say to the wicked man, You shall surely die; and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his wicked conduct so that he may live: that wicked man shall die for his sin, but I will hold you responsible for his death. If, on the other hand, you have warned the wicked man, yet he has not turned away from his evil nor from his wicked conduct, then he shall die for his sin, but you shall save your life.

If a virtuous man turns away from virtue and does wrong when I place a stumbling block before him, he shall die. He shall die for his sin, and his virtuous deeds shall not be remembered; but I will hold you responsible for his death if you did not warn him. When, on the other hand, you have warned a virtuous man not to sin, and he has in fact not sinned, he shall surely live because of the warning, and you shall save your own life.

Ezekiel 3:17-21

Jay Nordlinger once said that sooner or later you have to just accept that people who vote for Democrat rule that destroys their cities actually would rather have their cities go to hell than have a conservative be in charge.

Black Residents of Chicago’s south side have apparently decided that allowing mostly Hispanic border crossers come into their neighborhoods is a bridge too far.

How DARE those horrible republicans in Texas not allow themselves to be stuck with the problems that woke Democrats fostered on them!

Oddly enough I suspect nobody is going to call them racists

In San Francisco Yet another business has decided to take a hike:

In October 2022, after completing a multimillion-dollar renovation, Australian furniture and lifestyle retailer Coco Republic opened its flagship San Francisco location at 55 Stockton St. in Union Square.

Seven months later, a Coco Republic spokesperson told SFGATE that its flagship San Francisco location is set to close in the next few months, citing a familiar reason: lack of customer foot traffic, which the company pinned in part on unsafe conditions — or at least people’s perception of unsafe conditions — in the surrounding area.

Of course the real story is they actually thought opening their 8 months ago was a good idea. I mean look at the train system:

The day after the report was released, as if to emphasize the heart pounding intensity of possible encounters with fellow BART passengers, there was this guy with a meat cleaver…

A man wearing a balaclava and pacing up and down a BART train this afternoon slashed a fellow passenger across the back with a meat cleaver, and caused more than a dozen other riders to scurry away in fear, according to a witness to the scene.

I love the verbiage, “scurried.” OMG, you know they were running for their frickin’ lives to whatever end or car they could crawl over the person in front of them to get to first.

There’s a reason why only 17% of riders feel safe on their system.

The old saying “neither rain nor snow nor dark of night shall keep the postman from his appointed rounds” apparently doesn’t apply in Seattle

Some south Seattle residents are claiming a significant ‘mail fail’ is occurring as the United States Postal Service (USPS) has halted mail delivery due to a rise in recent vandalism and theft.

A sign at a nearby U.S. Postal Service office in Columbia City is telling residents in the “98118” zip code to pick up their mail in person at an annex office, located at 5920 Martin Luther King Jr Way South. The zip code covers around 49,000 people — but it’s unclear how many of them are not getting their mail delivered.

Well who needs the US mail anyways? After all if you’re worried about crime or walking the streets the lack of mail isn’t going to phase you at all.

Kim Gardner’s resignation is due to go in effect on June 1st. but she’s going out as she came in.

Saturday May 6th, there was a Cinco de Mayo parade held in St. Louis. Lots of people, lots of drinking and at one point some people in the street got into a fight. Two people watching the fight from the sidewalk pulled out guns and started shooting.

As the party on Cherokee street was winding down, gunfire broke out at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

According to police, a man was grazed in his upper thigh and a woman was shot in the leg. Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital and are in stable condition.

An investigation found the victims were watching some men fight from an intersection when one of the suspects started waiving a handgun.

The two shooters, a man and a woman, were quickly identified because there was video showing them pulling out their guns and opening fire.

The shooters on camera drawing their guns, can’t get more open and shut then that, except Gardner has released them and refused to press charges. The obvious question is asked:

The piece concludes, “Gardner could end her time in office better than she conducted most of it by publicly explaining this.” That was published yesterday but so far no explanation has been offered.

I’m struggling to think of an explanation for allowing this woman to walk. Maybe there is a good explanation for this, but given that it was all caught on video it’s hard to imagine how lack of evidence could be a problem here.

Oh there is a good explanation, just not a just one.

Finally in Portland the place where I had my honnymoon 35 years ago and almost moved to because of how beautiful the country was, things continue to go downhill as the drugs take over this whitest of white towns.

Last year they set a record for deaths by Fentanyl overdoses.

This year said: Hold my beer:

According to new data, overdose deaths are up nearly 50% so far this year compared to last year.

Last year, there were a record 158 overdose deaths in Portland. This year will almost certainly surpass that peak. There have already been 85, a 46% increase from this time last year, PPB spokesman Nathan Shephard tells WW.

“Keep in mind that the numbers for this year are actually only preliminary because the Medical Examiner will continue to process toxicology reports that will only increase the number of deaths considered overdoses,” he added.

The new data was released today after a deadly weekend in which 8 people in various parts of the city died from suspected fentanyl overdoses. Two of the deaths happened last Friday. There were five more deaths Saturday and one on Sunday. Police believe the victims bought street drugs which they believed was cocaine but which was actually fentanyl.

Anyone want to make bets on next year?

Quick closing thought. All of these results in all of these cities were a choice, these cities CHOOSE to put in people that advanced these results. They have been warned repeatedly that this has been the case and we have been ignored. Thus have they reaped what they have sowed, but as Daniel cried when they were leading Susanna to be stoned for a crime she did not commit:

“I am innocent of this woman’s blood.”

Daniel 13:46 (New American Bible)

I and those of us who have warned of this result are innocent of what has gone down

I keep reading that the polls for Trump are great since the indictment. I think that doesn’t matter. I think what matters is how Kari Lake’s lawsuit in Arizona is doing, because since the laws are being enforced selectively what is the incentive for the left to not steal the election in the same key districts that they did the last time?

Seriously even if you think the last election was on the up and up what is there any disincentive for the left to try to steal this election, seriously do you see one.

I alluded to this yesterday but let me say it bluntly. I don’t want any help for San Francisco from the feds. Not a single penny and not a single federal officer to help enforce the law.

This city and this state elected the people who made the laws there that bred what they got, let them clean it up.

Until there are consequences for their actions, consequences that require then to act, nothing will change.

I’m still trying to wrap my head around Bud Light deciding that Dylan Mulvaney is the perfect face for the brand. Cripes it’s not like there are not a million beer choices out there these days for people choose and doing so a week after a transgender shot up a Christian school speaks volumes.

In fairness to Bud lite I suspect their brand was not high on the Transgender’s customer list before today and in even more fairness everywhere I go Bud lite is the cheep beer offered at a discount. Perhaps they’re figuring that teenagers who want to get drunk cheap are more interested in price then they are politics. They’re likely right but I’d love to see how the distributers are reacting to this.

I wish I had come up with this one but I have to give credit to DaWife who saw this somewhere on facebook:

Ask not why the children shouldn’t see drag queens, ask why drag queens crave an audience of children

In fairness before Christianity took hold, the sexualization of children was the norm so the secular left is just going back to their pre-Christian roots.

Finally in the wake of the WPGA Australasian locking down their twitter account after a biological male won his first WPGA tournament I want to quote swimmer Riley Gaines concerning people’s reaction to her vocal opposition to fake women in women’s sports.

None of those people giving thanks had the courage to do what she did, speak the truth out loud against opposition. This is the goal of the left consequences for speaking the truth aloud and no consequences for pushing a lie, but a few people have the courage to fight against it.

It’s those few who prove that courage remains the primary virtue that all others depend on.

I thought this story was an excellent example of cause and effect:

San Francisco is requesting assistance from the federal government due to an “unprecedented police staffing shortage” in the liberal California city.

Three years ago San Francisco Mayor London Breed joined Democrats across the nation and announced a plan to defund the police.

It backfired in every way imaginable and Breed eventually reversed the budget cuts but the damage was done.

The city is full of crime, filth, and open-air drug markets and Breed can’t solve the problem because the city is in the “midst of an unprecedented police staffing shortage.”

Local Police in SF, much like their counterparts in Seattle and Portland knew what was coming and many headed for the exits while the getting was good and now no level of funding is attracting the number of people needed to actually enforce laws, assuming they plan on allowing such a thing to happen.

I must admit my first reaction to the story looked a lot like this:

But then something hit me about the request, Why didn’t San Francisco ask for help from the STATE rather than the federal government?

After all the state has it’s own police force that could be deployed in SF at once. SF has a lot more representation on the state level and the use of state police and resources would mean more local control rather than oversight from 3000 miles away.

I don’t think the story is the whole “defund the police” business turning a city until an unlivable cesspool where people aren’t safe, the laws of human nature and cause and effect meant that was coming. The story is that she’s running to Joe Biden boys instead of Gavin Newsom’s crew.

So the question remains, why did she not check with Gavin Newsom or the state AG to see if they could provide relief for the state, either in terms of manpower or funding?

Discuss.

Yesterday Instapundit put a link to Ann Althouse who had a very interesting take on the Paul Pelosi story and how the NYT spun Elon Musk tweet answering Hillary Clinton:

The main thing Musk did there was ding Clinton for throwing out baseless speculation. He was emboldened — just kidding, he seems to have felt emboldened — to swing wildly because he was swinging back at her wild swing. She wielded the hammer of self-serving accusation and he grabbed it and demonstrated how badly you can hurt someone with it.

The article alleges that Mr. Pelosi was drunk and in a fight with a male prostitute.

Oh, my lord, now the vivid allegation is right there in the NYT. It was fit to print. Why?! Because Musk merely pointed at it in a tweet that was — as I read it — designed to tell Hillary Clinton to back off with the political propaganda.

Mr. Musk’s tweet was later deleted, and it was not immediately clear who had deleted it.

But this is a news story. Musk linked to something, then deleted it. I’m inclined to speculate that the reason the NYT is elevating this story is that the drunk-fight-with-a-male-prostitute story is not beyond the pale. It needs to be rendered toxic so no one will pass it around. Don’t dare say it!

Kurt Schlichter also had a few things to say on the subject:

An official investigation? Yes, please! This is a serious matter, we’re told. After all, the regime media and Democrats such as Ilhan Omar are out there making charges like “A far-right white nationalist tried to assassinate the Speaker of the House and almost killed her husband a year after violent insurrectionists tried to find her and kill her in the Capitol, and the Republican Party’s response is to either ignore it or belittle it.” Heck, Our Democracy is at stake, so the incoming Republican majority must get to the bottom of this alleged act of political violence.

I somehow think the Democrats will be reluctant to help, though Speaker McCarthy should not let any Democrats on the panel in the first place as payback for the 1/6 kangaroo committee. But why not investigate? These are serious charges, albeit from unserious people. Omar, a commie ingrate whose stupidity is exceeded only by her dishonesty, could not resist trying to leverage some cheap advantage from this grody scenario, but she should have passed on strategic if not moral grounds. By trying to place the blame for this on us, she triggered the Streisand Effect just when Democrats least needed to be associated with even more weird nonsense than they are already. Blaming Republicans for what appears to many people to be a sex tryst gone sour guarantees the wrongly accused – us – are going to hammer the Democrats unmercifully about it.

Well there are some obvious questions to be answered. Jim Treacher leads of his piece at Substack with the one most obvious:

The Pelosis are worth somewhere north of $100 million. Nancy Pelosi is the speaker of the United States House of Representatives, and second in the line of presidential succession. You’re telling me her husband Paul was alone in a house with no security or surveillance cameras? This lunatic David DePape just walked right up to the house and broke in?

In fairness if you told me ten years ago that San Francisco would have “poop maps” I’d have found that pretty unbelievable too.

Those are all interesting takes but the most sensible take on the subject comes from a tweet from Byron York who is the king of sensible takes.

This of course is a good idea if you want to establish the actual facts. This is however why Don Surber believes this is unlikely:

I imposed the 24-hour rule on the attack on Paul Pelosi, 82, on Saturday. Today I impose the 24-year rule because we never will learn the truth because San Francisco’s police are not as depicted by Karl Malden and Michael Douglas a half-century ago. The cops put on this case are political operatives whose duty is to shield the truth from the public.

The left says Trump did this and cites social media posts which conveniently portray the assailant as a QAnon fan, et cetera.

The right says this was a lover’s quarrel.

The suspect was born and raised in Canada

None of this adds up. Nobody knows outside a few cops and those who were there. Pray for Paul Pelosi and move on. Forget it, Jake. It’s San Fran town.

Now the truth is charges not withstanding I don’t know what actually happened and neither do any of you but I hereby make this prediction: If the 911 audio, officers body cam video, the Toxicological tests the various reports and the camera footage from the Pelosi house and any surrounding cameras in the neighborhood support the media’s narrative then they will all be released pretty soon.

If they are not then I strongly suspect Don Surber’s 24 year rule will kick in, unless the GOP forces the issue as Mr. Schlichter suggests.

Now when it comes down to it regardless of which narrative if any is correct and whatever the fellow was actually doing at the strangely (particularly given how the left has been insisting that there have been an unrelenting wave of right wing violence over the last year) unprotected Pelosi residence assaulting the old man is wrong and we of course hope for his recovery.

This is a story that is generating a lot of buzz but if you want to know what story SHOULD be all over everyone’s tongue it’s this one also via Insty:

IF THEY REALLY NEED HER THERE, IT’S BAD NEWS FOR THE DEMS. IF SHE’S BEING SENT THERE TO KEEP HER OUT OF THE WAY, IT’S BAD NEWS FOR HER. Kamala Harris to stump for Maura Healey, Democrats, at rally Wednesday.

The story proper

The Biden Administration will lend its weight to Attorney General Maura Healey’s campaign again this week, when Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to hold a get out the vote rally in Boston.

“On Wednesday evening, Vice President Kamala Harris will attend a campaign rally in support of the statewide Massachusetts Democratic ticket. Massachusetts voters have the opportunity to make history by electing the first woman as Governor of Massachusetts with Maura Healey, the first all-women executive office team in the country with Healey and Lieutenant Governor nominee Kim Driscoll, and the first Black woman elected statewide in Massachusetts with Attorney General nominee Andrea Campbell,” the Healey campaign announced Sunday night.

Think about this for a second. It’s the final week of the campaign with critical races to defend the Senate and House for the Democrats and the Democrats find it necessary to send the VP to campaign in friggen Massachusetts to help Maura Healey in a race considered so safe for the left that they don’t even bother to list the 25.5 Democrat spread on the two pols they have listed at RCP.

No wonder the left/media would rather go all in on either the “Right winger attacks Pelosi” or “Right Wingers spread Pelosi conspiracy theory” stuff instead.
