UPDATE: Israel Acts Because the World Won’t Defend It. I’d say a lot of the world is actively working toward its destruction, or at least cheering those who are.
I am a minor and obscure blogger, Reynolds is the blogfather. I’m apparently not the only one who has been seeing this stuff and so I ask the question again: Why is the left so obsessed with Israel and Jews to the exclusion of other stuff? Why are death and destruction not worthy of protest if a line can’t be drawn to either Israel or America?

Since I’m not Jewish I don’t have the same perspective that you do on this. I don’t doubt that there are people out there with an irrational hatred of Jews. I’m saying that there are a fair amount of people without that irrational hatred that don’t seem to think on it. It’s their explanation I need to understand.

I would personally think the saner the person the more willing to admit fears and hates.
Look our Islamic friends have reasons for their hatred, most of the reasons stink, a lot of misinformation and propaganda and manipulation are involved but they are at least reasons that a rational person can understand. I don’t agree with them but I can understand them.
Our non-islamic friends are another story, particularly on very liberal settings like universities. As mentioned in this post Israel is on their side on issues that they would attack me as a Catholic over, while Islam trends more toward Christian belief on this one. Under an Islamic state I would be able to pay the tax and live, our friends on the left would be fish food. I am unwilling to support such a direction not only because I won’t be a slave but because I won’t see people slaughtered simply because I disagree with them or because they choose to sin. Such slaughter is not only a far greater evil as a Catholic but as an American such slavery and theocracy are abhorrent to me.
I can’t understand why westerners in general and American’s in particular can support such things. For example as a Catholic I believe homosexual acts (but not homosexuality itself) is a sin, I don’t think it should be punished by law. In Iran you are stoned for it. Why then would a city like San Francisco full of activists support Iran and its proxies? It is very possible that it is just hatred of Jews as you believe but even if that was the case and it was denied one would make an alternative explanation to cover themselves. I’d love to hear it.
I think however that Americans are by nature fair minded I think that people are persuadable. If our positions are correct they should be able to stand up under fire, I would think if their positions are supportable theirs would too. So lets see the defense. That’s the only way one can change minds.
It may be a fools errand. If so then in the words of my wife, I am that fool!
Having lived in america for many years and thinking i know what America thinks. I’ve actually never been able to put my finger on why people act as they do! I’ve found that many of the supporters of the “BAD GUYS” will support anyone who is not on the other side. they go from group to group trying to fit in so they can cause trouble at that next rally. they are they first ones to toss a bottle at a cop. the first ones to attack, Why?? well one guy who was interviewed by a Miami reporter during the “world Bank” meetings said “CAUSE IT’s FUN”
