Mark Steyn is one of today’s great writers. His comment on the Wilders situation deserves its own post:

The PC nellies of the Canadian “Human Rights” Commission, happy to hound the last neo-Nazi in Saskatchewan posting to the Internet from his mum’s basement, won’t go anywhere near Abou Hammaad Sulaiman Dameus al-Hayitia, the big-time Montreal imam whose book says infidels are “evil people”, Jews “spread corruption and chaos”, and homosexuals should be “exterminated”.

Instead, the state’s response to explicit Islamic intimidation is to punish those foolish enough to point out that intimidation. You don’t have to be as intemperate as Minheer Wilders can sometimes be: In the Netherlands even the most innocuous statement can get you into trouble. To express his disgust at Theo van Gogh’s murder, the artist Chris Ripke put up a mural outside his studio showing an angel and the words “Thou shalt not kill”. But the cops thought this was somehow a dig at the local mosque and so came round, destroyed the mural, arrested the TV news crew filming it, and wiped their tape. The Dutch have determined to commit societal euthanasia, and dislike fellows pointing out it might not be as painless as they’ve assumed.

Democracies tend to die of suicide, lets hope that’s not the case.

Used up a gift card and pickup up a batch of Big Finish Dr. Who’s from Mike’s comics.

By picking up some used or scratch and dent cases managed to get 3 8th doctor cd’s a pair of Davidson’s including the newest featuring the Key 2 Time series and the BBV Rani adventure that they had on sale.

I’ll be giving these a listen for the next day or so I’ll put up some reviews.

Odd enough the release date of Judgement of Isshar is Jan 31st. Mike’s must get them early.

Now THAT’S an ad

This is one of the best pro life ad’s I’ve ever seen:

It’s just the type of ad that would appeal particularly to the young black population that accounts for an inordinate amount of abortions. Margaret Sanger would be rolling in her grave. Good!

Upon my oath!

The Chief’s Justices flub of the oath was an embarrassment that he will be teased for, but it seems some constitutional scholars don’t want to take any chances.

Several constitutional lawyers said President Obama should, just to be safe, retake the oath of office that was flubbed by Chief Justice John Roberts.

The scholars suggest that it can be done privately and believe it might have already done so, meanwhile Jed Babbin has some fun with it:

If this were ancient Rome, Barack Obama would be huddled in a temple wondering what went wrong and the Roman Senate would be trying to choose a new Caesar. The crowning of the liberal Sun King ran behind schedule, and that was the best omen for Obama on the day of his inauguration.

It can’t help hurt to re-do it but we are going to have to put up with a lot of nonsense over it till then.

Update: should have said can’t hurt, and apparently it didn’t.

Apparently Barack Obama must read the blogs, or listen to constitutional lawyers on television. The new President took some free advice and re-took the oath of office today, just to be on the safe side:

Well at least with the extra practice Roberts will be ready for 2012.
