Blogging will likely be stopping shortly till late tonight as I have a job interview this afternoon. Ironically one of my references will be interviewing at the same place tomorrow. I hope they have two openings.

Wish me luck. Or if you’d rather not, wish him luck, he’s a nice guy.

Big BIG news in religion

If you have been following events in the Anglican communion as I have you would know that as western branches of the church have embraced non-biblical teachings. (Hello bishop Gene Robinson) or deferring to Islam (hi Rowan Williams) have shrunk while African churches that have held to scripture have thrived.

Well the successor’s of Henry VIII have created an opening and Pope Benedict is driving a truck right through it:

The Pope is preparing to offer the Traditonal Anglican Communion, a group of half a million dissident Anglicans, its own personal prelature by Rome, according to reports this morning.

“History may be in the making”, reports The Record. “It appears Rome is on the brink of welcoming close to half a million members of the Traditional Anglican Communion into membership of the Roman Catholic Church. Such a move would be the most historic development in Anglican-Catholic relations in the last 500 years. But it may also be a prelude to a much greater influx of Anglicans waiting on the sidelines, pushed too far by the controversy surrounding the consecration of practising homosexual bishops, women clergy and a host of other issues.”

Would they keep their structures? Yes:

If the Pope agrees, the TAC, which has a large number of married bishops and priests, would answer to the Pope but keep their existing structure, clergy and some elements of Anglican identity.

This has been in the works for some time. Damian Thompson makes a prediction:

My guess is that, if this happens, Anglo-Catholics in the C of E will move to Rome in unprecedented numbers under a similar arrangement.

I guess all those who said the Catholic Church was doomed because they didn’t change like protestants had it backwards. A society that expects instant gratification not a place to go for advice when you are a church that takes a view over centuries. That’s why Christ built it on a rock that still stands strong.

Shouldn’t the Democrats be happy?

You know If I’m the democrats and I really believed that this bill was a great idea and would work; I’d be thrilled.

I’d be thinking that I can take full credit, when the solution comes New Deal 2 earn the love of the country. This will keep us in power for decades and be written in the history books as a triumph!

I wonder my that isn’t the case? Actually I don’t wonder. If you do re-read my posts here and here.

Update: Rush backs me up.

The more I see the more I’ve convinced that MSNBC needs Rush Limbaugh to be the big dog in the yard.

All of MSNBC is setup as an adversarial network. Fawning over someone will not bring ratings. If Rush can be the star of the show then they have something to push back on.

Just a thought.

Morning Joe seems to be all over Rush today.

Update: That changed after the 7:00 hour the Rush word hasn’t been said.

7:27 a.m. If Russia and China is blaming the US for their financial worries does that mean it was our fault when they were doing good?

8:01 a.m. What is in this bill that would make a republican vote for it? Nothing says money party.

8:04 a.m. There is an argument that the tax cuts create deficits while money party says argues that it is more efficient than borrowing.

8:05 a.m. This is why Morning Joe is the best morning show you get a discussion. It’s the only worthwhile show on MSNBC.

8:08 a.m. They had them for dinner, he had them for drinks, he was nice to them says Andrea Mitchell yet they didn’t vote with him. How dare they not sell their principles for a few drinks.

8:11 a.m. I’d rather have Obama than Limbaugh to be afraid of.

Can someone explain to me why voting against this bill is an act of fear by republicans while democrats voting for a bill they haven’t read is not an act of fear of not doing something?

8:24 a.m. Vanden-Huval is being contested I love it.

8:25 a.m. The president is new but he is doing something? Isn’t that just the job description?

8:27 a.m. The guy who froze to death should have declared himself a bank holding company. She’s right about that.

8:29 a.m. TARP money spending was wrong, oh God she’s talking sense…until she follow up with Capitalism has failed and need replacing. When your goal is socialism or worse everything is a reason to go for it.
